Pasta in Osaka, where wheat based food culture thrives! 10 recommended restaurants in the prefecture

Osaka is known for its konamon (wheat flour based dish) culture, where dishes made with wheat flour have long been part of everyday eating. Of course, okonomiyaki (savory pancake) is a classic example, and noodle dishes like udon also fall into this category. Pasta is not generally classified as konamon in Osaka, but this time the focus is on pasta, which is also made from wheat. Here is a roundup of well reviewed places in Osaka Prefecture that are known for serving great pasta.

Osaka Prefecture [Osaka City] pasta that makes the most of wheat! Recommended restaurants

First, start with carbonara or Bolognese.

Mazuhakarubonarakaboroneze, named after its signature dishes, is located inside Karahori Fukugo Bunka Shisetsu Moe, a 3-minute walk from Osaka Metro Tanimachi Rokuchome Station.

This casual pasta restaurant is set in a renovated kominka (traditional Japanese house) with a hidden gem feel.

The "3-shu no Cheese Kaoru Carbonara" is finished without using fresh cream. In addition to assorted varieties available cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano, it uses Spanish pancetta and eggs from Kyoto.

It can also be ordered as a set menu that includes salad and dessert.

The "Domestic beef Bolognese with a red wine aroma" is a dish where slowly simmered Domestic beef and the rich flavor of aromatic vegetables come together.

This authentic pasta uses ripe tomatoes from Italy and red wine. It is made with fresh ribbon-shaped pasta called tagliatelle.

・Carbonara with the aroma of three kinds of cheese
The carbonara I came for had a rich sauce with plenty of cheese and black pepper. It went perfectly with the tasty bacon, and this is exactly what carbonara should taste like! Both the bolognese and the carbonara are absolutely delicious dishes.

Shichiria Ryori Trattoria Aria

Sicilia Ryori Trattoria Aria, about a 9-minute walk from Osaka Metro Higobashi Station, is a restaurant where you can experience the food culture of Sicilia (Sicily) while staying in Osaka.

The interior is said to be a comfortable space with a calm, easygoing atmosphere.

The "Lemon no Spaghetti (lemon spaghetti)" has the highest repeat customer rate and is one of the restaurant's most popular dishes.

A whole lemon is placed right on top of the pasta, making it a striking plate. Because the ingredients are so simple, the great taste of the lemon really stands out.

Bronte, a village in Italy, is known as a production region for pistachios, and they make good use of pistachios harvested there in their pasta.

You will want to try Sicilian-style pasta dishes such as ones made with sardines and the simple tomato sauce "Pomodoro."

The lemon pasta was light and refreshing, with a good amount of lemon juice coming through, and the fresh pasta had a nice chewy texture and tasted great! The pistachio pasta smelled amazing from the start, and it was so good that I finished it in no time.

Homemade Meat Sauce potto

Jikasei Meat Sauce potto is a hideaway pasta restaurant about a 3-minute walk from Shinsaibashi Station on the Osaka Metro. It has not only counter seats but also open terrace seating.

There are three types of fresh pasta, and it seems you can also choose whole wheat or a low-carb type.

At first glance, it does not look like a pasta dish. It is actually prepared sukiyaki-style, with the pasta covered in Domestic Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) Spencer roll. You can also choose a carbonara-style version.

Besides this, you will also want to order the ishigama serial bread (stone oven cereal bread), which lets you enjoy every last bit of the pasta sauce.

The restaurant’s most popular menu item is the “Rich Cream Meat Sauce with the aroma of porcini mushrooms × 100% Australian grain fed beef meatballs.” For an additional charge, you can add extra meatballs.

The sauce coats the pasta well, and the pasta is said to be packed with the flavor and good taste of wheat.

This place is good. Everything comes out piping hot. It had been a long time since I last ate pasta while blowing on it to cool it down. That alone makes it worth it. Of course, the taste is great too. I was impressed.

I had no idea there was such a great spot in Morinomiya (Morinomiya)! I ordered a large size peperoncino with mentaiko (spicy cod roe), oba (perilla leaf), and squid as toppings. After a little while, the soupy peperoncino Rice bowl arrived. The fresh noodles were nice and chewy, and they tasted incredibly good with the soup! Mixing in my favorite toppings changed up the flavor too, and it was just delicious!

The stylish interior, designed by a space designer, is popular as a place where guests can relax and enjoy their meal.
