[Tokyo, Chuo City] Popular cake shops

Frederic Cassel Ginza Mitsukoshi Ten

This shop offers cakes by Frédéric Cassel, a France-born pastry chef who leads the pastry world. It is located near Ginza Station, on the B2 floor of Ginza Mitsukoshi.

This Takeout specialty shop lets you enjoy sweets that are popular at the France Honten in Ginza, Tokyo.

The specialty is "mille-feuille vanille (vanilla mille-feuille)." It is a dish that was also selected as "Best Mille-Feuille" at a contest in France in 2010.

This traditional cake layers crisp puff pastry with rich cream scented with vanilla. It also has a fragrant note like caramelization, according to reviews.

Like the “Millefeuille Vanille,” the “Chou Vanille” is also popular, filled with a rich cream made generously with Tahitian vanilla and packed into a cookie choux pastry shell.

They also sell seasonal cakes and baked sweets, all of which are said to have a refined, high quality taste.

・Mille-feuille Vanilla
Maybe because of its aroma, it was rich but not heavy, with just the right level of sweetness. Paired with crisp pie pastry with a caramel-like note, it picked up a light bitterness and a crunchy texture that made it impossible to stop eating. It was the top-tier mille-feuille just as rumored.

Mille-feuille vanille, choux vanille. They go on sale from 12:00, but lining up before then is not allowed, and a line forms as soon as it turns 12:00. Vanille is worth lining up for. It is filled with plenty of rich cream, but it is not too sweet and tastes great. Both the pie layers and the choux pastry are crisp. It is one of those treats that makes you want to buy it every time you go to Ginza.

Toshi Yoroizuka Tokyo

This patisserie is run by Toshihiko Yoroizuka, one of Japan’s leading pastry chefs, who honed his skills in Germany, France, and Belgium. The restaurant is located inside Kyobashi Edogrand, directly connected to Kyobashi Station.

On the first floor, there is a sales area for cakes and chocolates, along with a casual cafe space.

The second floor is a dessert salon. You can sit at the counter and enjoy a course of beautiful desserts finished right in front of you.

Appetizers include cake, and for the main menu you can choose from several parfaits or dessert plates. People say the dishes look gorgeous and the live preparation adds to the fun.

One of the popular cakes is "Jean-Pierre." It is a glossy dome-shaped chocolate mousse. It has the aroma of cacao and a rich, deep taste, with pistachios and nuts adding a nice accent.

Many of the cakes are not just sweet, but also have hidden accents in texture and flavor.

あおちーず

I wondered if “Appetizers” meant vegetables would come out, but instead they served a black tea cake and orange sauce. So stylishーーー! I don’t usually get to eat things like this. It had a rich, sticky texture, and the full aroma and flavor of the black tea went well with the light citrusy orange sauce. So good〜. Next was the Keigetsu chocolate ice cream, jelly, and orange parfait. It looked like a work of art from the moment it arrived.

ミニクーパー クラブマン

・Jean-Pierre
The reason it feels so satisfying even though the sweetness is kept low. Rather than relying on sugary sweetness, it leans on the rich flavor of cacao, nuts, and butter. That makes it easy to keep eating even if you do not have a sweet tooth.● The use of nuts is excellent. Finely tucked into the sponge, the nuts work perfectly as a textural accent against the rich cream.

Wako Cake & Chocolate Shop

Wako, located in the clock tower building that stands as a landmark in Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo, is a shop that sells luxury goods such as watches and accessories.

On the 1st floor, they sell chocolates and other items made with Special ingredients, while the 2nd floor has a calm tea salon space.

The cakes are made in the atelier on the floor above the tea salon, while the baked sweets and chocolates are made in a dedicated atelier near Ginza.

Chocolate, which needs careful temperature control, is their specialty. They also offer cakes made with chocolate, selling rich cakes with a smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture.

What they began selling when the chocolate specialty shop opened in 1988 was "Chocolat Frais." It is fresh tasting, smooth nama-chocolate (fresh chocolate).

A popular item is an assortment of small chocolates that pair cacao with ingredients that go well with it, such as liqueur and nuts.

ジョリ太郎

Every cake lined up in the showcase looked delicious. The petits fours caught my eye, but this was for a birthday cake. When I asked what they wanted, they said Mont Blanc, so I went with the Mont Blanc. The rich chestnut flavor was excellent. Everyone was very happy with it, and it made me feel I was right to choose a cake from Wako.

ウロタコ

It melts away and disappears in an instant, but the cocoa aroma and smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture are amazing. You will fall for Chocolat Frais. Above all, the Truffe Champagne. It has the aroma of champagne and a soft texture. From the moment it touches your mouth, you are wrapped in a bright aroma. Sevilla, the pairing of orange and praline is excellent. Every chocolate is truly delicious, delicate Chocolat Frais.

Qu'il Fait Bon Grand Maison Ginza

A tart specialty shop whose name means "What lovely weather" in French. It is located near Exit 6 of Ginza-itchome Station.

The first floor is a shop for Takeout, and the basement floor is a luxurious salon. It is such a popular place that lines form on weekends.

One of the main features is that they use plenty of seasonal fruit sourced from Japan and abroad, chosen for being at its best at that time.

The tart is topped with beautifully arranged fruit and finished with a glossy sheen. The flavor makes the most of each fruit’s sweetness, acidity, and aroma.

Some tarts are beautifully topped with a single kind of fruit, while others are arranged with several kinds of fruit. It seems many people also buy them in whole sizes for birthday cakes.

With the balance of flavor and texture in mind, they also change the tart crust depending on the fruit.

ミツ^_^

The fruit tarts, made with plenty of seasonal fruits that change throughout the year, look so gorgeous that they instantly make your heart skip a beat. Layers of crisp, light tart crust, smooth cream, and fresh fruit with an excellent balance of sweetness and tartness come together for a taste that brings happiness with every bite.

It has the presence to take center stage at a special occasion or party. When you press in your fork, you feel the pleasant crispness of the tart crust, and with one bite, the fresh tang of berries spreads across your mouth. A perfect tart, both in looks and in taste. As expected from Qu'il Fait Bon.

The company handles everything in house, from sorting the cacao beans to roasting them. It is popular for chocolates and cakes packed with the appeal of cacao.

エロテロ

The Wacha Opera is a Japanese-style gateau opera made with matcha. Its vivid green look and the rich flavors of matcha and chocolate were really delicious✨The set also comes with one piece of chocolate. Smooth chocolate with a refined sweetness...one of the best pieces I’ve ever had! Wonderful⭐️

Eat for life

I visited on a weekday afternoon and got in without waiting. I ordered the gâteau set with a chocolat mont blanc and coffee. The combination of chocolate, chestnut, and hazelnut had more depth than a typical mont blanc, with rich layers of texture and flavor, and it was wonderful. I’d love to come back again.

Sweets & Deli

Palace Hotel Tokyo is near Otemachi Station. This pastry shop is located on the basement level 1 inside the hotel.

They sell hotel-made cakes and bread, as well as baked sweets and confiture that make good gifts. It is a Takeout-only shop.

The signature sweet is “Maron Shantii (chestnut Chantilly).” It is a traditional cake that has been loved for many years.

It has a simple combination of chestnuts and fresh cream. The chestnuts are coarsely strained, leaving some bits for a nice textural accent. The refined flavor of the fresh cream is another highlight.

The shortcake made with sponge cake, strawberries, and fresh cream is also popular. They also have a roll cake type centered around ichigo (strawberries).

They sometimes sell the end pieces when the roll cake is sliced. People say they are packed with cream, taste just as good as the rest, and are a great deal even though they are the ends.

・Maron Chantilly
It has the look of a true work of art. One bite and roughly strained chestnuts come tumbling out from the light cream, and their rich flavor makes a big impact. Even the packaging and wrapping feel luxurious, with no compromise at all, making this a dessert with a very high level of satisfaction in every bite.

もぐ子のグルメ備忘録

Hashikko Roll is a roll cake made from the edge pieces left over when making premium shortcake. It started being sold a few years ago as a way to cut food loss, and I have bought it several times. You get about the same amount as 4 slices for roughly the price of 1 slice of premium shortcake, so it is a great deal!

Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki Paris Marunouchi Ten

Sadaharu Aoki is a Japanese pastry chef active in France. This shop lets you enjoy the flavors popular in Paris right here in Tokyo. It is located on the first floor of a building directly connected to Yurakucho Station.

The stylish interior has a refined look with white and dark brown as its main tones. Takeout is available, and you can also eat in.

The ingredients used in the cakes are said to be sourced with care, with the pastry chef personally visiting producers and purchasing only Special selections. The flour comes from France, and they value the savory flavor and crisp texture it brings when baked.

The combinations of the dough with the cream and fruit are also said to be excellent.

The item you can enjoy in the eat-in space is the "Degustation." It is an assortment of six bite-size pieces of popular cakes.

Even though each one is small, they still let you fully appreciate how good they are. Their beautiful colors also show in the chocolates and macarons.

BaiBaiYe_1008

・Paris-Brest
The pastry had a crisp, flaky bite and a clean finish, with just the right amount of saltiness. It wasn’t dry, but it also didn’t blend away into the cream, and the texture was spot on. The rich pistachio cream also had a firm texture, about as thick as buttercream. Even so, it didn’t feel heavy or overly rich at all, and left only the fragrant aroma of nuts behind.

甘いもの日和

I ordered the degustation and coffee, which let me try a variety of cakes little by little. It comes with 6 kinds of sweets in beautiful colors, and it feels very satisfying. The macaron was citron. My favorite was Saya, the bright pink one on the left. It was made with strawberry and pistachio, and the sweetness with a nice level of tartness was really good.

Depending on the season, the paired ingredients change, such as strawberries, chocolate, or peaches. Even with plenty of cream, it is said to be a cake you can enjoy with ease.

The cream puffs are also popular. The choux pastry is baked with layers of dough made by kneading together Domestic wheat flour and high quality butter, plus a crisp almond topping.

They fill it with rich vanilla cream right before handing it over. It has a satisfying weight and a taste that will make you want to come back for more.

Thh2024

・Japonais Chocolate
It was so soft and melty it felt almost drinkable. The sponge had a slightly chewy texture, and together with the soft cream and chocolate sauce, it tasted wonderfully satisfying. The amarine (strawberry) was sweet and tasty, and there was plenty of it on top. It had a different texture from any shortcake I had eaten before, and it was absolutely delicious.

いつでもはらぺこちゃん

Ryoko’s cream puff I’d been wanting to try for so long. It feels nice and hefty the moment you pick it up♡ From the very first bite, the choux pastry’s toasted almond aroma and crisp texture make you feel happy. The cream inside is piped in from the bottom and packed all the way to the top... It’s rich and refined without feeling too heavy. This is more like a cake than a cream puff

Atesuwei

This patisserie is in Kichijoji, Musashino, Tokyo, near Tokyo Woman's Christian University. The shop is located in a quiet residential area.

There is also a table set up in front of the shop, but it mainly focuses on Takeout sales. On some days, a line forms even before it opens.

Patissier Hideki Kawamura has also won international competitions. His cakes stand out for their delicate appearance and their rich yet light texture.

The popular item is the Mont Blanc. Its sharp, mountain-like shape gives it a distinctive look. It is made with smooth cream that lets you really taste the chestnut, making it a great cake for chestnut lovers.

The cakes decorated with delicate chocolate work are also popular. The balance of cacao aroma, the texture of the nuts, and the smooth cream is said to be just right.

They also sell baked sweets and chocolate treats. Assortments packed with many different flavors are perfect for gifts.

ゆーた0629

I love the cakes at this shop too, and everything is delicious, but what always impresses me most is the fresh cream. It has a very rich taste, yet it does not feel heavy at all. No matter how many times I eat it, that feeling never changes. No matter how full I am, I still want to eat the fresh cream here, and I can.

When people think of Atesuwei, this Mont Blanc is what comes to mind. It uses waguri (Japanese chestnut) cream made from chestnuts from Kumamoto Prefecture and marron cream from France. The natural sweetness of the chestnuts, the smooth cream, and the crisp meringue texture are all very well balanced, so you can enjoy it to the last bite without getting tired of it.

Avranches Guesnay

This shop takes its name from Avranches, the city in Normandy where pastry chef Koji Kamishimo trained, and from the name of the pastry chef he respects, Mr. Guénais, making it the very starting point of his career.

Located in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, near Kasuga Station. It is a Takeout specialty shop marked by its bright red exterior.

They also sell bonbon chocolat that look like jewels, and they seem to use chocolate in an outstanding way.

Their specialty is also a cake made with chocolate. "Renard" is a simply shaped cake filled with chocolate, nuts, and citrus, then coated with caramel.

The tarts made with seasonal fruit are cut into large pieces so you can directly enjoy the texture and aroma of fruit at its peak.

The cake that looks like pomegranate is framboise jelly. Inside, it has a spicy chocolate cream, giving it an enjoyable surprise.

• Renaru
It starts smooth and milky on the palate, then the richness of nuts and the acidity of citrus come through, and finally the crunchy texture of the base and sliced almonds brings it all together. The sweetness is not overpowering, and the bitterness and toasty notes add depth, making it easy to see why this is called a signature specialty.

I got a bite of the Epices framboise that my family was eating too. Inside the raspberry mousse on the outside? there were hidden layers of pistachio and chocolate mousse, and when eaten together, it was refined and delicious! It looked beautiful and tasted great too ◎ I definitely want to try the other cakes here as well. This patisserie never disappoints.
