Tori Yakiniku Toriichi Sakae Joshidai Ten

Toriyakiniku Toriichi Sakae Joshidai Ten is a restaurant with a homey and lively atmosphere.

Grills are also set up at the counter, so you can enjoy Yakiniku on your own. There is also Sunken kotatsu seating where you take off your shoes, making it a relaxing place to unwind.

The recommended menu item is “tori Yakiniku,” where you grill freshly slaughtered chicken yourself.

You can enjoy the branded young chicken Ena-dori and one of Japan’s three major jidori (free-range chickens), Nagoya Cochin, while they are still very fresh.

"Toriichi Meibutsu Maruchu" is a popular drink to go with the chicken Yakiniku. It is a lemon flavored shochu highball with frozen fruit inside.

As the cut fruit gradually melts, the fruity flavor is said to get stronger.

名古屋、ときどき全国。

The tori-yakiniku (grilled chicken) was especially good, with the seseri (chicken neck) standing out for its great texture ◎ The thigh was plump and packed with rich flavor too! The Beef Tongue was neither too thin nor too thick, just right for eating with green onion ♩ The tsukune tsukimi (chicken meatballs with egg yolk) could be grilled to whatever size you like, so I went for a big one and luxuriously coated it in the yolk before eating it.

Oicho Sakae Ten

Oicho Sakae Ten is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located an 8-minute walk from Sakae Station.

The interior feels clean and bright. The wood-grain counter and tables create a stylish space.

The popular menu item is yakitori made with fresh Kinso-dori (a brand of chicken), grilled over binchotan (high-grade charcoal) on a custom made grill.

The careful grilling and house made salt with no chemical seasonings are said to bring out the rich flavor of the chicken.

The drink selection pairs well with the yakitori and a la carte izakaya dishes.

The lineup also includes Japanese sake such as Horaisen Bi Junmai Daiginjo, a local sake from Aichi Prefecture, draft beer, and assorted varieties available of red and white wines.

I reserved counter seats and visited. The food here is always really good! Today, the tsukune (chicken meatball skewers) was unbelievably delicious, and I ended up ordering it again.

Overall, they use charcoal very well, and none of the skewers are overcooked or undercooked. The meat is tender, and you can tell they prep it with care. There is no flashy presentation, but this restaurant’s strength is that every single skewer is reliably good.

Alcohol options include homemade craft sours made with Domestic non-wax lemons, which are popular.

Among them, the "Meibutsu Nike Lemon Sour" made by crushing the lemon peel and seeds is said to have a refreshing taste.

CosCos

Well, Nagoya has Nagoya Cochin (Nagoya chicken) and hitsumabushi (grilled eel over rice), but the seafood is great too❗️This place serves nidone maguro (two-day aged tuna), and it was amazing to get to eat tuna aged for 2 days. (Each) dish was also delicious, and the lemon sour was especially good❗️

大魔王わんきち

The top drink recommendation is the original Nike Lemon Sour, and this one had no sweetness, with a refreshing lemon tang and really good carbonation. It goes down so easily that you may end up drinking a lot, so be sure to add the All you can drink option lol

Dote-ni (miso stewed beef and konnyaku) goes great with beer, with tender simmered meat and konnyaku (yam cake). The miso kushi has a crisp coating soaked with sauce. The tebasaki (chicken wings) are satisfyingly meaty. The Taiwan yakisoba is gently comforting, with moist noodles. The miso oden is simmered to a dark brown color, and the flavor is soaked in really well.

Uni Yokocho

Uni Yokocho is a rare place where you can fully enjoy shiomizu uni (saltwater-packed sea urchin) from Hokkaido.

Many reviews mentioned the staff's service. People said the service was very good and the hospitality was wonderful, so it seems to be highly rated.

The uni (sea urchin) they source through their own channels is "shiosui uni (saltwater sea urchin)," made without alum and with no additives at all.

The photo shows the "uni 3-kind assortment." It has no off-putting aroma or bitterness, and the natural sweetness of the uni spreads across your mouth. The texture is creamy, and the flavor is rich.

The Japanese sake lineup makes the most of this izakaya's strength as a uni (sea urchin) specialty restaurant. They have plenty of labels that pair well with uni.

If you want to enjoy both drinks and food, a course with All you can drink including more than 10 kinds of Japanese sake is just right.

Among the drinks, they have Taiwan Beer with flavors like mango and pineapple.

Some of the drinks are kept in the display case, and after ordering, you take out the one you want yourself.

タロ活

First, we had Kagoshima Kurobuta (Berkshire pork from Kagoshima) coarse-ground shumai and juicy soup-filled boiled dumplings. Both really brought out the rich flavor of the meat, and each bite was juicy. The shumai were a good size, making them just right as the first dish. The house specialty, Mao Zedong spare ribs, had an addictive crunchy texture and a nice kick of spice. They pair well with drinks, of course, but they are also highly satisfying as an A la carte dish.

・Hiden kawa-kushi (secret sauce chicken skin skewer)
The chicken skin here is more springy than crispy. Once you bite into it, you can really tell how rich it is in collagen. It feels like it would make your skin nice and bouncy. The sauce is slightly strong. Every bite brings out the sweetness of mirin, and in that moment, I love it!

I went with the course menu, and every single dish was delicious! I was surprised by how good it was. I’d love to come back. The drinks came out quickly, and the service was good too.
