What stood out most were the robatayaki (charcoal-grilled fireside cooking) fatty sardine and shrimp. Both were cooked to just the right point with the power of charcoal, with fragrant skin, tender flesh, and a smoky aroma that really whets the appetite. The sardine and shrimp are a must-try skewer.

I had been curious about this robatayaki (fireside-style grilling) place for a while, so I made a reservation and visited. The restaurant stayed full the whole time, with customers coming in one after another. The staff had a great vibe, worked quickly, and made it a very comfortable place to be. On top of that, the food was excellent. It was fantastic.

かなログちゃん

The robata (fireside grill) gives it a nice, toasty char, but there is no bitterness or harsh edge, and you can really taste the ingredient’s own sweetness. It also looks gorgeous. The color balance is very beautiful, and the dish itself felt like art✨.゚・*..☆.。.:*✨.☆.。.:. *:゚

I was glad I could enjoy the meal while watching the food being prepared right in front of me at the U-shaped counter. The drinks were also All you can drink, with a wide selection, and they had lots of unusual wines too. At the end, they even served a dish that was not on the menu, and it was nice to be able to spend time there while relaxing at an easy pace.

This restaurant brings together the best of robatayaki (fireside grilling), yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), and kaisen ryori (seafood cuisine) in a relaxed setting. We had an assortment of sashimi and various charcoal-grilled chicken skewers. The atmosphere is casual yet calm, making it a good choice for drinks with friends or a Banquet.

The grilled large shrimp with salt also had plump, springy flesh and was very satisfying to eat. The salt seasoning was just right, and it was so good that I wanted to eat one more. I expected the yakitori Rice bowl to be about one rice bowl serving, but I was surprised that it was actually a full donburi bowl serving. We shared it and enjoyed it.

Since it is a robata (fireside grill), it was fun to have all kinds of kushiyaki (grilled skewers) and other grilled dishes, but the sashimi assortment, the wara-yaki (straw-seared) assortment, and the instantly smoked roast beef appetizer were especially good. You can also order the sashimi to match your group size, and it is nice that ordering is done on a smartphone. The food was delicious, the robata atmosphere was great, and we had a very nice evening.

Robata to Oden Koronagirai Umeda Ten

Robata to Oden Koronagirai Umeda Ten is a place where you can casually enjoy robatayaki (fireside grilling) and oden (Japanese simmered dishes). It is located on the 4th floor of a building about a 5-minute walk from JR Osaka Station.

There are also many kinds of robatayaki (fireside-grilled dishes), including seafood and vegetables.

The photo shows the colorful “ginzake (coho salmon) no ikura (salmon roe) oroshi-gake,” with grated daikon radish and ikura on top of ginzake. Ikura is salted salmon roe, known for its poppy texture. You can enjoy the contrast with the flaky ginzake.

澤田のすすめ

What I personally found the most delicious was the ginsake (coho salmon) with ikura (salmon roe) and grated daikon. The salty flavors of the ginsake and ikura were an intense match. It really made the drinks go down easy. This is one dish I definitely want you to order. As for the atmosphere, even though it was the middle of the week and the restaurant is on the 4F of the building, it was completely full. From oden counter seats to Semi-private room table seating and Sunken kotatsu seating for Banquets, this is a place you can use for a wide range of occasions.

The main robatayaki (fireside-grilled dishes) were all fragrant and delicious! Today’s kama-yaki (grilled fish collar) was buri-kama (yellowtail collar), with a crisp outside and flaky, juicy flesh inside that made it very satisfying! The deeply seasoned fried daikon radish had the dashi flavor soaked all the way through to the center while still keeping the nice aroma of the fried coating, and it was excellent!

The sashimi assortment is all seasoned, so you don’t need soy sauce. The ikura oroshi (grated daikon with salmon roe) also comes with plenty of real ikura (salmon roe), which is a real treat. As for the jaga-butter shiokara (potato with butter and salted seafood), the fluffy and sweet Hokkaido potatoes combine with the saltiness and rich flavor of the shiokara and the richness of the butter, creating an explosion of happiness in your mouth!

Even though it was a weekday, it stayed full the whole time and seemed to be a popular spot☺️The sushi, sashimi, and grilled dishes were all delicious! I was also happy that there was robatayaki (fireside grilling) on the first floor, and I got to watch it cooking and looking more and more delicious as it grilled!

It is pretty hard to get a reservation for the first-floor seats, but this time I got lucky with the timing and was able to go. They grill a lot of items right in front of you. The grilled dishes take some time, but the large shrimp are very satisfying and plump. The sake harasu (salmon belly) had crispy skin and flaky flesh, and I finished it in no time.

"Chikuwa Cheese Pork Belly Maki" is a robatayaki (fireside grill dish) made by wrapping high quality chikuwa (tube shaped fish cake) with cheese inside in pork belly.

The combo of crisp and fragrant pork belly, soft chikuwa, and rich melted cheese is said to be excellent.

だいやめ太郎

A major draw of this restaurant is its dedication to "grilling" and "sake." Its signature dish, otoro iwashi (rich fatty sardine), uses fatty ma iwashi (Japanese sardine) delivered directly from Hokkaido and is slowly grilled over an irori (sunken hearth), giving it a plump and juicy finish. The drinks are distinctive too, with a lineup that will please alcohol lovers, including craft shochu and original shochu highballs.

Compared with central Umeda, the location feels a bit more relaxed! The atmosphere is also very nice. Since it is a robata (fireside charcoal grill) restaurant, we ordered mainly grilled dishes. The chicken and grilled vegetables like renkon (lotus root) were very tasty, and we could really taste the charcoal aroma, so we were very Manzoku. If I had to say one thing, grilled dishes take time, so it took a little while for the food to come out, but it was a good restaurant that made me want to visit again.

They grill it slowly over low heat, leaving the outside crisp and the inside tender. The counter seats are appealing because you can also enjoy the live cooking atmosphere.

The "Tokudai Ebi (extra large shrimp) ~served with homemade tartar sauce~" uses extra large shrimp, and the plump, sweet shrimp are said to pair perfectly with the tartar sauce.

In the foreground of the photo is the "chateau-buritan," a thick cut beef tongue grilled over charcoal. It is said to be seared and fragrant on the outside, tender inside, and so good that juices spill out with every bite.

They also offer a wide range of courses with All you can drink. You can enjoy not only robatayaki (fireside grill dishes) but also dishes such as kamameshi (rice cooked in an iron pot), another house specialty.

"Genji-yaki (traditional slow charcoal grilling)" is grilled carefully over low heat. This time, I had ootoro iwashi (extra fatty sardine) and tokudai ebi (extra large shrimp). The surface was crisp and fragrant, while the flesh was plump. The restaurant’s signature dish lets you enjoy that concentrated umami. "Chateaubri-tan" has a refined umami and juicy taste, with tenderness balanced by the pleasant bite unique to tongue, and it is simply irresistible♡

The straw grilled dishes are excellent! The kama-meshi (rice cooked in a pot) also takes time to soak up all the flavor! There is also a wide range of creative dishes on the menu! Both the meat and fish taste great! This is definitely the right place to enjoy what only a robata (fireside grill) restaurant can offer!

The assortment of grilled vegetables was fragrant, and it really brought out the natural sweetness of each ingredient. The fish dishes were excellent too, and the grilled fish was nicely cooked with a good aroma, making it a great match for Japanese sake. On this day, I especially chose Ushijima Honjozo. It had a clean, dry finish that really lifted the savory flavors of the food.

The doteyaki (beef tendon stewed in miso), grilled vegetables, and dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet) were all outstanding, and the grilled vegetables were so good that I ended up ordering more right after the first round. The yamaimo (Japanese mountain yam) in particular had a great crisp texture. I’d definitely like to come back.

A small fish tank is built into the counter table, where you can fish for kuruma ebi (Japanese tiger prawns), then have them cooked or even eaten live odori-gui style, and they also serve grilled fresh fish and other robatayaki dishes, so this is a restaurant with lots of different ways to have fun!

The shrimp we caught were chilled on ice and eaten while still moving!! They had a nice springy bite and were so delicious!! Even the Doraemon chuhai (shochu highball) was full of humor, making this a really fun place! The sumibiyaki (charcoal grilled) menu was great, and the charcoal scented edamame was just right as a snack with drinks, so we ordered it twice. I recommend the fish even more than the meat!!!

We mainly ordered lighter dishes, but every single one had one or two thoughtful touches and tasted great✨Unlike regular robatayaki (fireside grill cooking), there were lots of dishes you can only eat here

An izakaya that stays open until early morning. Every ingredient they grill over charcoal was fresh and excellent. On this day in particular, they had shima-aji (striped jack), and they prepared it as saikyo-yaki (Kyoto-style miso grill). The chicken thigh tataki also had perfectly crispy skin and tasted amazing. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

In the lively dining room, the charcoal grilled fish had crisp and fragrant skin, while the flesh was tender and juicy, making it a great match for drinks. There is also a wide selection of Japanese sake and shochu, which you can enjoy with the food. The cheerful service from the staff also felt nice, and I thought this was the perfect place for a drink after work or a get-together with friends.

I made a reservation after hearing it was good value. The dashimaki (Japanese rolled omelet) was very tasty. They also had many great dishes that were both delicious and reasonably priced, such as Wagyu tataki (lightly seared Wagyu), hotate (scallops) grilled with butter, and grilled yamaimo (Japanese mountain yam). I would definitely like to go again.
