Shigetake

Mototake is a tempura specialty restaurant with more than 100 years of history, and it is known as a homey place where you can enjoy high quality tempura.

Inside, there are 8 seats in total at a beautiful counter made from natural materials, and the friendly, warm service is also said to be good.

You can enjoy carefully crafted tempura, made by the fourth-generation owner while honoring the traditions passed down from the previous generations.

The tempura is fried in additive-free goma-abura (sesame oil) from a long-established shop, and is said to come out light and airy thanks to the crisp frying technique.

Many people seem to order the tempura Rice bowl lunch, which comes with aka-dashi (red miso soup), pickles, and fruit. They use Akitakomachi rice, and refills are free.

They offer a wide variety, including the "Vegetable Tempura Rice bowl," but if you are not sure, the "Tempura assortment Rice bowl" is a good choice. You can enjoy all kinds of tempura, including shrimp, fish, and vegetables.

おさけとぐるめ

The atmosphere of the restaurant was also wonderful and not at all stiff, and the chef's warm personality really came through. Every dish was excellent! The sashimi and zosui (rice porridge) besides the tempura were also fantastic. The matsutake (pine mushroom) tempura was matsutake gohan (pine mushroom rice) tempura, fried together with rice! It had a really nice aroma, looked interesting, and tasted like something I had never had before. I had such a great time that it made me want to come back again.

めぐでぐ

I ordered the anago tempura Rice bowl (conger eel tempura Rice bowl) (it came with 1 large anago and shrimp) with less rice. The anago was tender and nicely flaky, and it went perfectly with the tempura Rice bowl sauce. It really made the rice go down easy! I wanted to eat shrimp too, so I was happy to see shrimp in it lucky me. Broccoli tempura is pretty unusual! The light, airy batter was excellent.

Tempura Ginza Onodera Namiki-dori Ten

Tempura Ginza Onodera Namikidori Ten is about a 4-minute walk from JR Shimbashi Station and is known as a place where you can enjoy great tempura made with fresh seafood and seasonal vegetables.

It has an upscale atmosphere, yet you can still relax without feeling stiff, and from the counter seats you can watch the chefs' delicate techniques at work.

They use premium Taihaku goma-abura (light sesame oil) generously for the tempura, which gives the batter a refined sweetness.

Because it is unroasted, cold-pressed sesame oil, it has a light mouthfeel and is said to be less likely to feel heavy on the stomach. The tempura is served freshly fried one piece at a time.

The uni (sea urchin) shiso leaf tempura roll, which gets lots of positive reviews, is a popular dish you can only enjoy in the Namiki Course.

The fresh aroma of the shiso leaf pairs perfectly with the rich sweetness of the uni, making it a dish that leaves you wanting to come back for more.

TakeruIto

Not only is every dish delicious, but the service and atmosphere are also excellent, and honestly I can't find a single fault. The kobako-gani (female snow crab) tempura had a rich crab aroma, and as a big crab fan, I liked it so much that I would come back just for that dish. If you want to enjoy top class tempura and creative dishes, this place is a must visit!

biyouns

They are particular about the batter too, making it light by whipping the water, eggs, and tempura flour into a meringue-like texture. They use fresh prawns kept in a tank. Starting with the crispy front legs of the prawns, I fully enjoyed the sweetness and umami of the two prawns. The eggplant was sweet with a Creamy texture and was very delicious☺️

・Anago (conger eel) tempura
Even though it’s wrapped in batter, the skin is nice and crisp! I’ve had this kind of texture before in French sautéed fish, but in tempura?! And with anago?! This is a real pro’s technique!

トラトラトラ66666

A lovely tempura restaurant with a spacious counter. The seats are well spaced, so it feels very comfortable. The tempura has a thin batter and is super crisp! It is so light that I could have kept eating forever. Vegetables and fish like corn, asparagus, ayu (sweetfish), and hamo (pike conger) come out at just the right pace. I also liked that they changed the tempura paper very often.

I visited for Sunday lunch. This is a great place where you can enjoy tempura and sushi at the same time. Everything was really good, but the hotate (scallop) was especially thick and sweet, and absolutely delicious. The uni (sea urchin) was also sweet and fresh. It was my first time eating it on top of nori (seaweed) tempura, and it was very tasty.

食タグで美味探し!ウマタグ探検家

The first dishes we ordered, kampachi (greater amberjack) and maguro (tuna) sashimi, came in big slices and were amazingly fresh! With each bite, more flavor spread through my mouth, and this was seriously delicious. The ebi (shrimp) tempura was also nice and crispy, and the firm, meaty texture was hard to resist. The drinks went down fast too, and what was supposed to be just one beer turned into two, plus a lemon sour added on top (lol).

The tiger prawn tempura goes without saying—it’s bound to be delicious. The soft shell was especially good. The owner’s recommended way to eat it (Japanese pepper shichimi on the miso part) was seriously addictive. The finishing tempura Rice bowl and miso soup were also good. The rice was Koshibuki from the Uonuma production region, and it was perfect for the tempura Rice bowl.

When you hear “a counter-style tempura restaurant,” it can sound a bit intimidating, but this place is very easy to walk into, and the tendon (tempura Rice bowl) was surprisingly reasonably priced. It’s not just cheap, the taste is also the real deal. They fry it right in front of you after you order, so you can enjoy it freshly made at its very best. ミシュランPAC

First of all, the tempura batter. It has a solid thickness, yet the moment you bite into it, it breaks apart with a light crispness and has none of the heaviness of oil. You can tell how skilled they are in a single bite. The ingredient selection is also good, and the flavor of the shrimp and white fish in particular stood out inside the batter. Even though it is a restaurant that specializes in fugu (pufferfish), the tempura itself is finished to a very high level, and you can clearly taste the character of each ingredient.
