[Kumamoto Prefecture, Kumamoto City] Stylish Bistro
Photograph:GOLD0389
A bistro in Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City, on Oaks-dori, a camphor tree-lined street known for its many stylish shops. It also has an attached wine shop.
The interior has a stylish feel, with antique-like reclaimed wood worked in. It is perfect for casually enjoying wine and food.
Photograph:®️y
This popular spot has about 25 seats and is almost always close to full. There is also seating in the wine shop, which you can use when you just want a light drink.
If you visit during happy hour, they also offer a well-liked value set with 2 drinks and 2 light dishes.
Photograph:おフランスぶた
The food pairs well with wine across the board. There are also many dishes made with ingredients from Kumamoto and Hokkaido.
The "Cheese Shop's cheese assortment" is a popular plate. With cheeses from Hokkaido and from overseas, you can compare different kinds with varying saltiness, firmness, and flavor, and they say it makes the wine go down easy.

Every dish that came out felt carefully made and tasted great. I was glad I got to try all kinds of cheese! I was worried the fun might be cut in half since I can’t drink wine, but the other drinks were stylish and tasty too, so I was very Manzoku!! The staff were also very friendly, and I love the nice atmosphere inside. It’s become a favorite place, and I want to bring all kinds of people here.

Visited for daytime drinks. I was surprised that it was nearly full even though it was daytime. The tables are spaced well apart, so it was nice not to worry about the people around us. We ordered the apero set. A generous pour of sparkling wine and a mimosa. Both were easy to drink and tasty. There was also a wide selection of drinks, which made it a fun place to enjoy a drink.

A restaurant where you can enjoy body-friendly dishes and alcohol made with hakko shokuhin (fermented foods) and hakko chomiryo (fermented seasonings). It is located in central Kumamoto City, along Kami-no-Ura-dori, a charming street lined with old buildings.
The interior has a woody, casual bistro feel. It is a popular place, so reservations are recommended.
Photograph:エリンギ の菌床
Every dish is made without chemical seasonings and flavored with house made fermented seasonings and spices.
There are no course meals, only a la carte orders. Since each plate is on the larger side, it is best to visit with a group and share so you can try a variety of dishes.
Photograph:sohi22
The dishes feature some kind of fermented ingredient throughout, such as natural prawns roasted and topped with a sauce made from fermented black garlic, or blue cheese wrapped in gyoza wrappers.
They also offer house-made fermented drinks with flavors like lemon and peach. They also have a wide selection of Japanese wines.
Haru2678
I almost managed to try everything I had been curious about, and it honestly moved me to tears. Every single bite was amazing, and I savored each one. Everything was great, but I can’t forget the shrimp with black garlic sesame sauce and the blue cheese gyoza (dumplings). I’ll probably be happily thinking back on those flavors for a while lol. The drinks were full of unusual options too, so I think people who enjoy alcohol will have a good time as well.

Every dish used fermented ingredients, and while the flavors are hard to describe, everything was delicious. I liked it so much I wanted to reorder everything from the beginning and eat it all again. The blue cheese boiled dumplings were probably the most surprising dish. I recommend going with a larger group so you can order lots of different dishes and share a little of each.

This bistro is on the second floor of a building near Fujisakigu-mae Station, the station for Fujisaki Hachimangu, a shrine founded in 935 in Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City.
By reservation only, you can enjoy an Omakase course and natural wine. It mainly serves dinner, and lunch is offered on an irregular schedule.
Photograph:kame3kame3
The interior has a warm feel, with a wooden counter, cupboards, and simple table settings. It seems to have the feel of a casual hideaway for adults.
They are particular about wines made with care for the environment, including wines prepared by hand and wines made with wild yeast. This restaurant is recommended for wine lovers.

The course includes around 6 dishes, and you can choose the main meat dish and pasta from several options. Reviews also say that each dish is cooked in a way that brings out the natural flavor of the ingredients.
The restaurant uses ingredients mainly from Kumamoto Prefecture, including organically grown vegetables and seafood from Kyushu. You can enjoy both the wine and the food.

This time, there were 4 of us, and we opened 3 bottles: sparkling, white, and red. Each one was distinctive and delicious. The food was carefully prepared, and the seasoning was light, so you could enjoy the natural flavor of the ingredients. This is real good food for people who know.

For the drinks, they served an Omakase selection of wines in a pairing style. They brought out a range of high quality natural wines from Japan and abroad, and every one of them tasted great on its own. With the food, the wines brought out even more of their own potential while also drawing out the flavors of the dishes. It may not be a strict pairing, but you can really feel the owner's sense and style.

Located in Shinmachi, the castle town southwest of Kumamoto Castle, Bistro "Kurasiku" sits right next to the Shinmachi Station stop in a renovated old building.
The glass door at the entrance also has a retro feel. Inside, the restaurant has a natural atmosphere, with its aged roof and pillars left intact.
Photograph:hironovic
Open from after noon until night, it’s also perfect when you want to enjoy a light meal with wine in the daytime.
The selection focuses on natural wine, with several options available from by-the-glass pours to full bottles. The staff will help choose wines that match the food and your preferences.

The food lineup is full of items that go well with wine, such as charcuterie, terrine, and liver mousse. They also offer hearty dishes like stews and roti.
Many locals seem to come back again and again because they like the food and wine and the atmosphere of the restaurant.

It was a pleasure to enjoy great food while drinking lovely wine from midday. I was happy from the very first dish, brandade, along with the house-made bread, because both were so good. I enjoyed the wine while savoring authentic European dishes. I really liked both the food and the wine selection at this restaurant, so next time I want to come in the evening and take my time eating and drinking.

I love Kurashiku. The place is always full, so reservations are a must. If you tell them what kind of wine you want, the staff will recommend something for you. Every dish pairs well with wine. The terrine, rillettes, and liver mousse are all the kind of dishes that make you happy. This is a place I would definitely recommend to wine lovers.

This is a place where you can casually enjoy two dishes and wine, just like the name suggests. It is located in Shinmachi, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, in a residential area.
The blue door is the landmark. Inside, the red walls and antique style table sets create a stylish space.

The Omakase set with 2 plates, Appetizers and a main, plus house made bread is popular. You can freely add more dishes to the meal. It is also possible to order à la carte by choosing specific dishes.
A popular Appetizers choice is the tartare. The combination of Wagyu, vegetables, and cheese is said to be spot on.
Photograph:桜ろーれる
They also serve game dishes such as duck and lamb, prepared with rich sauces that pair well with wine.
Some reviews also say that even the house made bread and desserts are tasty. It is a good pick when you want to relax and enjoy a casual meal with wine.

This well-known restaurant lets you enjoy authentic French cuisine in a casual bistro style! Every dish was delicious! We ordered à la carte this time, but next time I’d like to try the course menu✨️The atmosphere fits words like "romantic," "cozy," and "stylish," making it perfect for a meal with someone special.

I finally made it! I ordered the seasonal fresh fish and vegetable tartare, onion gratin soup, herb breadcrumb-crusted lamb, and akadori (red chicken) with harissa. Every dish was better than expected. They all went great with beer. I’d love to come back and try more of the menu.

This bistro serves casual French food made with ingredients from Kumamoto Prefecture and follows the motto of local production for local consumption and “put love into every dish.”
Suidocho, where this restaurant is located, is said to have developed a water supply system in the 1600s by drawing water from a nearby river for fire prevention in the castle town of Kumamoto Castle. It is about a 2-minute walk from Suidocho Station.

The interior feels warm and inviting, with beautifully grained wooden tables and floors paired with red chairs.
Both lunch and dinner are served as course meals. The chef’s Omakase course is popular.

The vegetables mainly come from organically grown produce in Kumamoto Prefecture, and each type of vegetable is sourced from a specific farm.
The meat and fish are also often local, and they also use Kumamoto brand Wagyu. Every dish is colorful, and the stylish presentation gets great reviews.

I visited for dinner on a weekday. It was a course with 5 dishes including dessert, plus bread and coffee. The chef explained each dish one by one. Above all, the presentation was beautiful and really lifted the mood. Each dish was carefully made, right down to the sauces, and the seasoning for each one was also very good. The delicious food got the conversation flowing, and we had a great time.

The meal starts with colorful vegetables. Every dish comes beautifully plated. And of course, everything tastes great too. The wine goes down nicely as well. We asked for a refill of the baguette, and it came out steaming hot. It was probably just over an hour and a half. We got to enjoy a luxurious time with good food and conversation.

This Italian restaurant is near the Shimotori Arcade, the largest downtown entertainment district in Kumamoto City. You can enjoy homemade pasta and creative dishes.
The simple warehouse-like interior has counter seats facing the open kitchen and table seating. You can also enjoy the live feel of watching the cooking as it happens.
Photograph:ki‐tan
You can casually enjoy dishes made with ingredients unique to that season, paired with wine and other drinks in a bistro style.
For the Appetizers, they use seasonal fruit and seafood, while the main dishes feature items such as Aso Akaushi (Aso Red Wagyu) from Kumamoto Prefecture. The menu seems to change monthly.
Photograph:美食インフルエンサーK
The restaurant’s signature pasta comes in many different noodle shapes. If you are dining as a pair, the service of splitting one plate into two portions is also well liked.
"Ebi to Paripari Jagaimo (Shrimp and Crispy Potato)" is also one of the popular menu items. It features large shrimp coated with thinly shredded potatoes instead of a usual batter. The contrast in textures is part of the appeal as well.
もりりんjp
They also have a pretty good selection of wine, so it is great for a Quick Drink as a second stop. You can enjoy your meal in a calm atmosphere^^. Another nice point is that they will serve the pasta divided into portions for the number of people in your group. The dishes look great and taste great, so the wine goes down easy〜. There is a wide variety of options from Appetizers and mains to snacks and desserts, so it should work well for all kinds of occasions!

The tiger prawn wrapped in potato seems to be this restaurant's specialty. The sauce is really delicious. It goes so well with the bread! The prawn was plump and juicy, and it was great with the crisp outer layer! This is a dish you should definitely order♡The food was all good, even though it took a little while to be served, and the atmosphere was lovely!

"Espoir," which means "hope" in French. This is a bistro where you can enjoy food and wine without feeling formal.
It is located in central Kumamoto City, along Ginza-dori on the way from Shirakawa (Shirakawa River) to Kumamoto Castle. It is on the second floor of a building and seems to have a hideaway-like atmosphere.
Photograph:ユッさん821
The compact interior has about 16 seats, allowing the chef to keep an eye on everything. It works well for all kinds of occasions, whether you want to have a little wine or enjoy a celebratory meal with friends.
They also have knives and forks, but being able to eat with chopsticks is part of what makes it feel like a bistro.
Photograph:酸辣湯麺
You can order either à la carte or a course. They also have a wide selection of wines, including some available by the glass.
The signature dish is raclette cheese. They bake Hokkaido (northern Japan) cheese in the oven, then pour plenty of it over vegetables right in front of you, so you can enjoy the aroma too.

Tonight, I brought my guests to this restaurant. They were serious food lovers, so I was worried about how they would rate it, but they spoke highly of it and said every dish was delicious. It saved face for me. I missed taking photos of the main steak and foie gras. It was my first time trying Mont-Saint-Michel mussels, and they were very good.

A hideaway bistro(^^)I felt like having some wine, so I casually dropped by. Looking around the place and checking the menu, I could tell they really love France and wine. It’s a bit much to drink a whole bottle alone, so I had a glass of white Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir instead! The prices were reasonable, and both were good.

A bistro in Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City, near Kengun Shrine and the zoo and botanical garden. Just like its name, Okina Taiyo (Big Sun), this restaurant values food and a space that warmly brightens everyone who visits.

Appetizers, soup, Homemade bread, main, and Homemade dessert. I was surprised by how big the Appetizers were right from the start! The main was even bigger! There was a sign at the entrance that said "A very filling lunch," and it was true! At the end, the friendly chef came out from the kitchen, so I told him, "Everything was great! I'm full!"

Yamaga City, in the northern part of Kumamoto Prefecture, is known for its many hot springs. This bistro sits in a peaceful setting closer to the mountains than the city center.
It is a standalone house with a spacious garden. The old building was renovated, and the garden is also Homemade by the owner. You can enjoy a relaxed meal while looking out over the beautiful garden.
Photograph:ハッピー80801
The restaurant features dishes centered on ingredients from the Kyushu area, with flavors that let you enjoy a good balance of taste, aroma, and texture. While it has the casual feel of a place where you can eat with chopsticks, you can also enjoy creative cuisine based on French cooking.
They pay close attention even to the tableware and glassware, and it is well known as a stylish place to enjoy a meal.
Photograph:フレンチ★リリー
The options range from short courses centered on pasta to reservation-only courses with 10 or more dishes served like a story.
They can also accommodate requests for large parties and small celebration dinners. It seems they can adjust the portions even for course meals.

Every course dish is carefully prepared, making it a luxurious meal you can enjoy one plate at a time. The presentation is beautiful, and the taste is deeply Manzoku!
