Teppan-yaki Tenyu

Tenyu, on the 45th floor of Tokyu Kabukicho Tower just a 1-minute walk from Seibu-Shinjuku Station, is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy high quality Teppan-yaki dishes made with Special ingredients.

Inside, the restaurant has spacious counter seats where you can enjoy chatting with the chef, and you can dine while taking in the views of Shinjuku.

You can choose from several course menus that showcase the chef’s skilled technique and seasonal ingredients that change throughout the year.

The main Wagyu, carefully grilled right in front of you, is said to be tender with a refined taste, and is also well loved for its satisfying portion size.

It seems the restaurant does not just do meat well, but also serves seafood and vegetable dishes with a finish that is satisfying. You can also enjoy rare ingredients you may be trying for the first time.

The grilled vegetables served as part of the course let you choose the ingredients you like. The salad, made with a house dressing prepared on the spot, is also popular.

お昼からお酒飲みたいの

Even inside Kabukicho Tower, the Tokyu Hotel side has a more upscale feel and is calm. The dark gray walls, maybe sumi-iro (charcoal ink color), give it a stylish look, and the high ceilings make the space feel open. The large windows also offer a sweeping view of Shinjuku. Seasonal flowers were displayed here and there, which was also lovely.

The meat, cooked rare, is surprisingly tender, and you can enjoy different flavors with salt, wasabi, and garlic chips. It also feels nice to watch them carefully adjust the doneness right in front of you. The portion was just right for lunch, and it left me with a solid sense of Manzoku. It was a Special time with the full package of view, taste, and service.

The interior has a pleasantly classic Teppan-yaki atmosphere. The Strip loin steak cooked right in front of you is tender and juicy, with the savory aroma of the Teppan-yaki grill and a taste that goes beyond expectations. This quality at this price is very appealing.

麻友ちゃん❤️

We ordered the Special Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black beef) (A5) pair set with abalone steak. It felt like a set for sharing 200 grams of meat and a large abalone steak. After the Appetizers came the abalone steak, which was tender and very delicious. Since it was a large abalone, it also came with two livers. The main meat was Matsusaka beef, and it melted in the mouth. Dessert was a chocolate cake grilled right in front of us. It was not too sweet ◎.

Buchi Uma-ya

Buchi Umaya, about an 8-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Shinjuku Station, is a restaurant where you can enjoy Hiroshima okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) grilled by the owner, who is from Hiroshima Prefecture, along with a range of Teppan-yaki dishes.

The interior has a retro design with an old-school feel, and its small, homey atmosphere is part of its charm.

Hiroshima okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is known for including pork, egg, and either soba noodles or udon noodles. Most of the ingredients, including the sauce and aonori (green laver), are shipped directly from Hiroshima.

The batter and noodles are grilled until crisp, and they go perfectly with the sweet flavor of the tender cabbage and the rich sauce.

Besides okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), the ikayaki (grilled squid pancake) made with fresh squid personally sourced by the owner is also popular.

You can choose from two seasoning options, and the plump, tender texture is said to be irresistible. It also seems like a great match for drinks.

kota0606

A short walk from Shinjuku Station, this is a great spot to enjoy authentic Hiroshima-fu okonomiyaki (Hiroshima-style savory pancake). The layers of plenty of cabbage, crisp noodles, and fragrant sauce go perfectly together, and it is also a nice touch that it is served on a Teppan-yaki griddle. The menu ranges from the classic nikutama soba (okonomiyaki with pork, egg, and soba noodles) to more unusual options, and each one is cooked with care and steady consistency.

さくらパンダ130

Just like the name suggests, the "buchi umai (super tasty)" okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is so light and fluffy that it does not feel heavy like flour based food at all, and you could eat several pieces. Not just the okonomiyaki, the side dishes are also worth trying. One thing you should definitely order is the ikayaki (grilled squid) that the chef carefully selects fresh each day ♡ It is absolutely outstanding. It comes in two flavors—butter soy sauce and rock salt lemon—and I want you to try both.

They can also do a birthday plate, so it worked well for a surprise, and the birthday cake was a good size too. The dimly lit interior had a nice, calm atmosphere, and the staff were lovely and attentive. The winter reward Lunch course felt luxurious, with kanburi (winter yellowtail), watarigani (blue crab) chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard), kakuni (braised pork belly), awabi (abalone), and tender meat all included. The awabi and meat were of course delicious, but the watarigani chawanmushi was rich and especially good.

The atmosphere inside was very nice, and with the calm lighting and attentive service, I was able to enjoy a relaxed meal. This time I had the Special course for the 9th anniversary, and every dish had a solid portion, so I was very Manzoku. The Wagyu steak in particular was outstanding, and I was impressed by its melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and rich flavor.

I reserved an All you can eat course with Hamburger Steak, momo steak (round steak), sukiyaki, and more. Of course, everything was delicious, and the steak from keisan-gyu (mature breeding cattle) had a rich beef flavor. The sukiyaki looked good at first glance, and it really was tasty. The curry packed with chunks of beef tendon and the Hamburger Steak are both must-order refills!

With its calm atmosphere that lets you feel the history, you can enjoy a relaxed meal. This time I visited for lunch and ordered the Teppan-yaki set. I had sliced tomatoes, Hiroshima-san (from Hiroshima) oysters grilled in butter, and Hiroshima-fu (Hiroshima-style) okonomiyaki with a few draft beers. The oysters grilled in butter were so good〜. There were plenty of other Teppan-yaki dishes on the menu I wanted to try too. Next time, I’m going to order the octopus grilled with garlic butter. The okonomiyaki was just as reliably tasty as I expected. Naturally, it also went perfectly with draft beer.

It is tonpei-yaki in the standard style, with pork belly wrapped in egg, but the version here has cheese inside for a unique twist. Reviewers say the fluffy, melty texture the moment you take a bite is irresistibly good.

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) is light and chewy, with a good balance of batter and fillings, and the toasty aroma of the sauce really gets your appetite going.
