Recommended shabu-shabu in the Yokohama area of Kanagawa Prefecture

GINZA Shunkashuto Yokohama Ten is in a great location just a 1-minute walk from the Kita West Exit of Yokohama Station. You can enjoy shabu-shabu made with pork from Uonuma, Niigata Prefecture, in a collagen-rich soup.
The interior is said to have a stylish Japanese modern feel. It has counter seats, table seats, and Private room.
Photograph:ちゅあんちゅんみー
They use Echigo Uonuma Kenko Buta (healthy pork from Echigo Uonuma), which has a mild sweetness and gets more flavorful the more you chew. You eat it after dipping it in a collagen rich soup made by simmering pork knuckles for about 48 hours.
For an extra charge, you can also add a pig mascot made from solidified collagen soup. Reservations are required by the day before.

The buta-shabu (pork shabu-shabu) can be ordered either as part of a course or à la carte. You can enjoy it with a variety of seasonings and sauces, such as salt and sesame sauce, so it stays interesting to the very end.
If you want to enjoy it casually, the good value lunch set that comes with rice and three small side dishes is recommended. You can also add more meat for less than half the dinner price.
らむ子。
There were three kinds of meat. I started with bara (pork belly). At first glance, it looked very fatty, so I was a little unsure, but it was sweet, tasty, and not heavy at all. It was so fresh that, even though it was pork, they said you could just swish it shabu-shabu style for about 5 seconds and eat it medium rare! If you overcook it, it gets tough, so I think the recommended way of eating it is best.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was nice, and the service was good too. I was happy that there were so many options for the All you can drink plan! It seems the green onions were cut in a method called water cut, and after I finished eating, none of the green onion off notes lingered in my mouth at all. The collagen broth was tasty too〜. I liked eating it with salt the best!

Nikuyanoniku Ryori Mizumura is a 3-minute walk from the south exit of Ishikawacho Station. This long-running restaurant first opened as a butcher shop in 1947. As you would expect from a former butcher, you can casually enjoy high-quality meat shabu-shabu (Japanese hotpot).
The calm interior has table seating on the first floor and Private rooms on the second floor that are by reservation only.

The owner checks the marbling of the meat and uses carefully selected top grade kurokegyu (Japanese Black Wagyu). Using a dedicated meat slicer, they serve it at the best thickness without losing the meat’s quality.
The "Special kurokegyu shabu-shabu" comes with a vegetable assortment and can be ordered from 2 servings. They use a broth that brings out the flavor of the meat.
Photograph:しお2618
They recommend eating the meat with sesame sauce and the vegetables with ponzu sauce, a seasoning blended with citrus juice and vinegar. It also comes with dessert.
For those who want to enjoy it a bit more casually, the "Special Wagyu & Pork Belly Shabu Set," which comes with an assortment of half beef and half pork, is recommended. You can also order extra meat.

"Onder Kurafuto Biiru x Kamo x Kunsei" on the 5th floor of Noge Tatenomi Yokocho is a 2-minute walk from the South 2B Exit of Sakuragicho Station. Here you can enjoy shabu-shabu made with kamo (duck) from Iwate Prefecture.
The interior has both counter and table seating in a stylish wood-toned space, and it is said to always be lively.

The kamo-shabu (duck shabu-shabu) is available only in winter. It comes as a two-layer Hot Pot with chicken paitan (rich chicken broth) and Japanese dashi broth, and includes tsukune (chicken meatballs) made by kneading and shaping ground duck meat, along with vegetables.
The duck is great, and the soup infused with its umami is said to be delicious as well. Besides A la carte orders, you can also enjoy it in the "Iwate Kamo-shabu (Iwate duck shabu-shabu) Mankitsu Course," which includes a variety of special dishes as well.

The house made kunsei (smoked dishes), a local specialty, also has a great reputation for being exceptionally good. They reportedly use several kinds of smoking chips depending on the ingredient, and also adjust the chip blend and temperature for the finish.
The photo shows the “Kunsei 5-shu assortment,” which lets you choose any 5 items from a wide selection of smoked dishes, including bacon, soft-boiled egg, and chicken.

This set was a good deal because it included dishes I had wanted to order à la carte too♪ Every dish served before the duck shabu-shabu was wonderful, and the tataki and assorted varieties available smoked items were excellent!! Then came the shabu-shabu, and it was amazing... the rich flavor of the duck really exploded! Total winner! It even came with finishing noodles, so I could enjoy the duck's rich flavor right to the very end, seriously ^_^

"Oyasai shabu-shabu (vegetable shabu-shabu)" is a signature menu item that lets you enjoy vegetables and mushrooms from all over Japan while staying right in Kanagawa.

I had the vegetable shabu-shabu. The satsumaimo (sweet potato), kabocha (Japanese pumpkin), Chinese cabbage, kabu (turnip), carrots, and many other vegetables, along with the pork, were all very delicious. The price is also reasonable, so I would definitely like to come again. I also appreciated the service of warm tea.

Today we ordered a vegetable shabu-shabu, with beef tendon for the broth and a soy sauce base. For the meat, we chose Yamagata gyu (Yamagata beef) short plate and three kinds of tsukune (chicken meatballs). The vegetables and the light broth were not heavy, and although the flavor was a little mild, the two of us finished 1 kilo of vegetables. The Appetizers that left an impression were tofu and shredded pumpkin. The staff were also polite and attentive, which left a good impression.

You can choose the type of Hot Pot you want. It was great that you could order unlimited meat again and again. The quality of the meat was very good, and the vegetables also made for a nice broth, so the overall Manzoku level was high.

Bashashi to Gyu Yaki Shabu Sakaba Emonaya sits quietly a 3-minute walk from Keikyu Kawasaki Station. This izakaya is known for its gyu yaki-shabu (lightly grilled beef shabu-shabu).
The interior, built with wood from a dismantled old kominka (traditional Japanese house), has a cozy and homey feel. It offers table seating in fully private rooms and Sunken kotatsu seating in Semi-private rooms.
Photograph:KIMCHI KING
The restaurant's signature specialty, the highly praised "gyuniku no yaki-shabu nabe set (grilled beef shabu-shabu Hot Pot set)," uses a style where you quickly grill the meat on a ceramic plate, unlike regular shabu-shabu where you swish it through broth. They say the far infrared heat brings out the umami.
You eat it with the vegetables served alongside it and dip it in the house-made sesame sauce.
Photograph:hka0327
Yaki-shabu (griddled shabu-style beef) is also available in several courses that include other dishes and All you can drink. They say every other dish is great as well.
The photo shows the "Kuroi Kara-age." It is chicken Kara-age made with squid ink. This is another signature dish included in most courses, and they say it is juicy and delicious.
くくるすDOAN
All the dishes are delicious. The yaki-shabu (lightly grilled thin sliced beef) and kinchaku tamago (egg in a tofu pouch) in particular are excellent! With 3 hours of All you can drink, it is also a great value, and for a Banquet of around 10 people, I think this is one of the top places in Kawasaki.

KIMCHI KING
The 9 dishes, including 3 hours of all you can drink, basashi (horse sashimi), and the famous yaki-shabu (lightly grilled shabu-style meat), convinced us to choose this place❣️It turned out to be absolutely the right call. Since we had 11 people or more, it was a Private reservation‼️Please ask about the reason when you visit. It was a warm, homey izakaya (Japanese pub) that I’d love to visit again.

Recommended shabu-shabu in the Kamakura and Shonan area of Kanagawa Prefecture
Kamakura Sukiyaki Shabu Shabu Restaurant Sasho, tucked away in a back alley an 8-minute walk from the west exit of Kamakura Station, is a restaurant renovated from a kominka (traditional Japanese house).
In addition to table seating, it also has Private rooms available for dinner. In an elegant space with views of the garden, you can enjoy shabu-shabu made with high quality kurogemawagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu).

They use Hayama-gyu (Hayama beef), a Kuroge Wagyu from Kanagawa Prefecture with only around 10 head available per month, along with Kobe beef, known as one of the highest quality in the world. Another feature is that the staff will attend to you.
The "[Kobe Beef & Hayama Beef] Premium Kuroge Wagyu Shabu-shabu" is a menu that lets you compare the two. Both are said to be excellent, melting in your mouth.

The "[Kobe Beef & Hayama-gyu (Hayama beef)] Premium Kuroge Wagyu Omakase Shabu-Suki Course" lets you enjoy Hayama-gyu in shabu-shabu and Kobe beef in sukiyaki. This is a luxurious reservation-only course that also includes an Omakase special dish.
If you want to enjoy shabu-shabu casually, lunch is said to be a good time to visit.

We chose a course that lets you compare shabu-shabu and sukiyaki made with Kobe beef and Hayama beef. Needless to say, it tasted amazing. The Appetizers served first were also excellent. The drinks were good too, and the Japanese sake in particular was served from a barrel and was wonderfully tasty, pairing very well with the meat.

Both the sukiyaki and shabu-shabu courses were just the right portion size and let us enjoy high quality meat, and they paired perfectly with nama-zake (unpasteurized Japanese sake). While the place had the atmosphere of a long established restaurant, the staff were friendly, and we were able to spend a very Manzoku time.

Today again, I had the shabu-shabu set meal(*^ω^*)The meat was tender, and the ponzu sauce and sesame sauce were both delicious. I also had Chinese noodles, and it turned into a very Manzoku lunch〜^ ^Samurai’s favorite way to eat it is to mix the sesame sauce and ponzu sauce together and add chili oil♡

For the evening tsuyu-shabu set meal, you can choose from Hojo-buta (abundant harvest pork), Josen-gyu (premium beef), or Domestic beef. In addition to what comes with the lunch set meal, it also includes seasoned ground chicken called tori-tsumire (chicken meatballs).
They also offer a wide range of other menu items. The sukiyaki set meal in the photo is an evening set meal that comes with kama-gohan (rice cooked in a pot), soup, and pickles.
TOMOZOU
The Hot Pot for shabu-shabu already comes filled with a rich dashi broth. You toss in the vegetables, swish the meat through the broth, and then enjoy it together with the vegetables, and it tastes so good. If you add just a little yuzukosho (yuzu pepper paste), which comes as a condiment, to the meat, it goes way beyond what you would expect at this price.

The restaurant had calm background music playing, and the wide spacing between seats made it a very relaxing place to spend time. Even though I’m local, this was my first visit, and I realized, even now, that it’s a really good restaurant.
