Okonomiyaki is a Teppan-yaki dish made by mixing ingredients such as cabbage into a wheat flour batter and cooking it on an iron plate. At this restaurant, you can enjoy Hiroshima-yaki, which includes either soba noodles or udon noodles. They boil the homemade noodles on the spot, and they are said to be very good.
It is popular to eat it topped with grated daikon radish, which gives it a light and refreshing taste.

Hiroshima’s classic menu item, gansu (deep-fried fish paste cake). It is a fried dish made from ground fish paste.
At this restaurant, they warm the freshly fried gansu on a Teppan-yaki plate before eating it. It has a light taste and pairs well with alcohol.

One thing that stands out about this place is that grated daikon radish is free. I was worried it might not go well, so I asked for it on a separate plate, but it matched the sauce perfectly and made everything nice and refreshing to eat!

いけ ぽん
The okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) was piled up in a rounded dome shape like Denkosekka, and it really was loaded with green onions. The outside had a fairly thick layer of egg. The noodles were chuka soba (Chinese-style noodles), and I really liked that the cabbage was cut into fairly large pieces. It had a nice crunchy texture and a sweet taste. It was also great that they tucked ika-ten (fried squid tempura flakes) inside.

• Niku-tama soba
This is the basic okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) that comes with pork and egg by default, and it has a rounded thickness with a soft, fluffy shape overall. The texture of the house-made chuka-men (Chinese-style noodles) is also a bit soft, which I think goes well with this style of grilling.

Speaking of Hiroshima, okonomiyaki (savory pancake) is the go-to dish, and it really was very good. I went with two friends, and the lively atmosphere was great too. Hiroshima okonomiyaki (savory pancake). For toppings, it has to be kaki (oysters). The ice-cold beer was seriously good. At the counter right in front of the grill, you can chat with the person cooking, so it is fun even if you go alone. The heat from the grill was intense, and I kept knocking back the beer.

I went with nikutama soba (soba noodles with meat and egg) topped with oba (perilla leaves). Another reason I like it is that they use Otafuku sauce. ・Hiroshima-fu okonomiyaki (Hiroshima-style savory pancake)
This was my first time trying okonomiyaki with udon (thick wheat noodles), and I wondered if that is common in Hiroshima for this kind of dish. The noodles had a thickness I had not tried much before, and they felt lighter than soba. It was really delicious!

At Non Non, located in Minami Ward, Hiroshima, you can enjoy old-style okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake). It is said to be a local favorite that blends into the neighborhood.
The calm space is part of the appeal, with an atmosphere where you can take your time and enjoy your meal. You can watch it being cooked right in front of you, which makes the meal even more fun.

The restaurant’s “Nikutama Soba” uses steamed noodles loosened in hot water, then cooked on a Teppan-yaki griddle. The sweetness of the heaping pile of finely shredded cabbage and the rich aroma of Otafuku sauce are said to be irresistible.
It also has a light garlic flavor.

You can also enjoy kaki (oysters), one of Hiroshima’s local specialties. The kaki no sakamushi (sake-steamed oysters) lets you savor large, plump oysters. It is said to be a dish where you can fully enjoy their creamy flavor.
The bean sprouts underneath also soak up the rich umami of the oysters, and they pair very well with alcohol.

Nikutama soba (meat and egg soba-style okonomiyaki), soba W, with ika-ten (fried squid tempura bits). As mentioned in the reviews, the owner cooks it very carefully. It comes out looking really beautiful. It was a tasty, home-style okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake).

The okonomiyaki (savory Japanese pancake) was carefully grilled, and every time I saw it, it looked beautiful and tasted great. It really showed me how much the taste can change depending on the way they cut the cabbage and cook it!

We had koune-yaki (grilled brisket), Iwakuni renkon (lotus root) sautéed in butter, oba (perilla leaf) and cheese, and the seafood special. The Hiroshima-yaki with oba and cheese was very tasty, and the oba gave it a nice fresh taste.

There are plenty of seats, and the menu goes well beyond okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), so it also works well for group drinks. The okonomiyaki is made with house made noodles, showing real care. The sauce also seems to be house made, with a tangy taste and a nice original touch. The okonomiyaki stands out for its crunchy cabbage and soft cooked egg.

・Nikutama udon (udon with meat and egg)
Could this be... not bara-niku (pork belly)? It has a real meaty feel, and I love it! Even the fat tastes light, and it really gives you that satisfying feeling of eating meat! They must be particular about the pork... I really want all kinds of people to try it! The cabbage is steamed perfectly! Its sweetness is brought out to the fullest.

I ordered the Nikutama Soba for egg lovers. The place had a homey feel, and they cooked it with great efficiency. The fried egg was wonderfully runny, with the perfect soft-set yolk. They use Otafuku Sauce, and you eat it with chopsticks.

Negi-an Kamiyacho Ten is a hidden okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) spot in Hiroshima known mainly to those in the know. It is right by Tatemachi Station, so access is very convenient.
As the name suggests, the green onions used here are Takarajima negi (Takarajima green onions) from within the prefecture. They are also very particular about their suppliers for the cabbage and meat. You can relax and enjoy your time in a Private room or at a table.
The most popular item at the restaurant is the “Tsukimi Negi-an Special.” This okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) is topped with an egg over a generous mound of green onions. You can choose either just the yolk or a whole egg.
The cabbage is said to be well steamed, bringing out its sweetness. The noodles are said to have a crispy texture.
This restaurant offers a wide variety of oyster dishes.
The "Kaki to Kinoko Yaki (grilled oysters and mushrooms)" lets you enjoy large, plump oysters even after they are cooked. The balance of the cooking is also said to be just right. Reviews say it is a hearty dish with a strong sense of Manzoku.

True to the name Negi-an, the okonomiyaki topped with negi (green onion) was really good, so I recommend it! The a la carte dishes were also tasty, and the stir-fried oysters and mushrooms and the dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelet) were must-order items too.

We all shared a few okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancakes), and they were cooked perfectly♪The iron plate was heated through despite its weight, so we could enjoy the hiroshimayaki (Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki) hot to the very last bite. Besides okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake), they also had a wide selection of Teppan-yaki dishes, and everything was very good. It is fun to go with a large group because you can try a little of many different kinds. We compared the okonomiyaki with udon and the one with soba, and everything we had, including authentic kaki-yaki (grilled oysters) and hotate-yaki (grilled scallops), was delicious!

The "white sauce" unique to this restaurant is a dish of okonomiyaki (Japanese savory pancake) generously covered with white sauce. It has plenty of visual impact too.
The white sauce is said to be light and easy to eat. A sprinkle of black pepper apparently changes it into a more Western-style flavor.
