Teppen Shibuya Onna Dojo is a lively yakitori izakaya just a 7-minute walk from Shibuya Station, staffed mainly by women and known for its upbeat service that blows away the stress of everyday life.
With public morning assemblies and birthday events, the whole restaurant comes together to create a fun atmosphere, making for a memorable dining experience.
Photograph:gugu130
The yakitori is made with Daisen-dori (Daisen chicken), raised on the rich land of Tottori Prefecture, and boldly grilled over binchotan (high-grade charcoal). They hand-skewer each one every day to keep it fresh.
For your first order, reviews also recommend the popular “Teppen-yaki,” an assortment with one skewer each of their popular items.
The menu also has a wide variety of vegetable kushiyaki (grilled skewers), with seasonal vegetables like tomatoes, asparagus, and zucchini wrapped in pork.
The pork fat soaks into the vegetables, and they are grilled just right so they still keep a nice crisp texture. These dishes are healthy and filling.
gugu130
The yakitori is reliably good too. Considering the price, it offers great value! And my personal favorite was the a la carte liver dish! The moist texture, plus the fragrant aroma of sesame and green onion, made the drinks impossible to stop! It seemed there was a customer celebrating a birthday that day, so the whole place was in a festive mood! The staff and customers were all having fun together, and the energy was great〜

There is counter seating, and they grill yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) right in front of you. One after another, carefully charcoal grilled yakitori is brought out. Crispy and fragrant on the outside, juicy on the inside. This is definitely the kind you know will be good! I really enjoyed the very tasty yakitori. The tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) had a slightly spicy taste seasoned with black pepper. This was great too!

Yakitori Torinozu is a yakitori restaurant on the 11th floor of a building, about a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station. Located high above the city, it offers a great atmosphere, with night views of Shibuya's busy district from the windows.
This authentic spot focuses on jidori (local chicken) and seasonal vegetables delivered directly from farmers. It is a calm, relaxed place where adults can enjoy a quiet meal.
Photograph:リカ0308
The restaurant mainly uses jidori (free-range chicken) from major chicken producing regions in Japan, such as Miyazaki and Tottori prefectures. The Yakitori and Tsumami (small plates) Course lets you enjoy a full range of popular yakitori and à la carte dishes.
The food is served on traditional Japanese tableware such as Kutani-yaki (Kutani ware), which adds to its beautiful presentation.

The signature makura chochin is a skewer made by wrapping garlic chives around minced meat with cartilage and shaping it like a pillow.
When paired with chochin (chicken egg yolk), it is said to come together beautifully in your mouth. The fragrant aroma of the charcoal grill and the sweet richness of the egg yolk are said to be a perfect match.

・Torinosu Omakase course
It impressed me even more than I expected. I had heard it was yakitori, but the dishes that came out felt just like a full course meal. Every plate brought a surprise, and I enjoyed it all the way through without getting bored. The first dishes, akami no mune niku (lean chicken breast) and momo niku (chicken thigh) with sweet sauce from Kagoshima Prefecture, had a perfect balance of charcoal aroma and sweet-savory sauce.

Personally, this was the one I liked best..!! It was not only tender, but also had a rich, Creamy flavor with no off notes, and it was seriously outstanding. It was seasoned with balsamic soy sauce, which gave it a stylish touch as well. I honestly felt like I would keep coming back just to eat this..!!

Honkaku Yakitori Shibuya Tamaya is a yakitori izakaya on the second floor of a building just past Shibuya Center-gai (Shibuya Center Street). It has a spacious interior with 75 seats in total, and a casual atmosphere where all kinds of guests can have a lively time.
This is the second branch of a high-end yakitori restaurant in Gotanda, Tokyo. One of its big draws is that you can enjoy the same high-quality yakitori at reasonable prices.
Photograph:pekohara
The yakitori at this restaurant is famous for its large cuts of chicken. They grill it boldly over binchotan (high-grade charcoal), which brings out the thick, plump, springy texture of the meat.
The "furisode" from the fringe area is a cut where you can really feel the bounce, and the more you chew, the more flavor comes through.
Photograph:あも
There are also many a la carte dishes that bring out the good taste of chicken. The "Tori Shio Chanko" is a nutritious Hot Pot dish eaten by sumo wrestlers in sumo stables.
It comes with big pieces of chicken, and you can enjoy a rich soup filled with savory flavor and collagen.

Everything was large and Manzoku! I had plenty, including furisode (shoulder meat near the wing), tsukimi tsukune (chicken meatballs with egg yolk), bonjiri (chicken tail), negima (chicken and scallion skewer), nikuzume piiman (green peppers stuffed with meat), seseri (neck meat), maruhatsu (chicken heart), as well as shiitake mushrooms and zucchini. All the meat had the same sweet sauce, which gave it a unique taste! Personally, I liked the rich flavor of the furisode and the springy texture of the maruhatsu best.

This popular restaurant has a calm atmosphere where you can enjoy authentic sumibi-yakitori (charcoal-grilled chicken skewers). The signature menu item, "tsukune (chicken meatball skewer)," is light and juicy, and when mixed with the special sauce and egg yolk, it becomes rich and full of flavor. The "negima (chicken and scallion skewer)" is a classic skewer with a great combination of springy chicken and sweet scallion, and you can enjoy it with either sauce or salt.

Yakitori Tsukada Shibuya is a yakitori izakaya just a 3-minute walk from Shibuya Station, near Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel, and the basic style here is to enjoy the yakitori by ordering a course.
The interior has a stylish, refined atmosphere, and it also has fully private rooms, creating a setting where you can relax and enjoy your meal.
For its yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), the restaurant uses Miyazaki Jitokko, a branded chicken that makes up only about 1% of Japan’s chicken distribution. Grilling it simply over charcoal brings out the sweet, rich flavor of its high quality fat and umami.
The most popular item is furisode (shoulder meat), cut from the shoulder. It has a nice bite, and they say this skewer lets you enjoy the most umami.
Photograph:こちゅび
The sasami (chicken tenderloin) can be enjoyed in a rare style. It is shaped like a small cylinder, grilled until plump, and seasoned with soy sauce.
When you wrap it in nori (seaweed) and eat it in one bite, it has an almost mochi-like texture, like traditional Japanese isobeyaki (soy-sauce grilled mochi wrapped in seaweed).
ムック1000
Every kushiyaki (grilled skewers) item was nicely aromatic, with excellent grilling. The à la carte dishes were just as solid, especially the juicy chicken wing Kara-age and the duck, which was cooked moist and tender. The staff also greeted guests with kind smiles, and their attentive service felt very pleasant, making this a restaurant with a really nice balance of food and atmosphere.

Jizake Ikken Yakitori Kome no Hana is a yakitori izakaya tucked away on a backstreet, about a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station, with a wide selection of Japanese sake. The restaurant offers Japanese sake from all over Japan, and you can enjoy pairings of yakitori and Japanese sake.
Inside, Japanese sake labels and sake barrels decorate the space, giving it a lovely atmosphere like a liquor shop.
They serve authentic yakitori made by carefully grilling freshly butchered Koshu jidori (Koshu local chicken) over binchotan (high-grade charcoal).
Because the chicken is so fresh, the liver is said to be first-rate. It has a rich chicken flavor and is cooked to just the right point with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. The acidity of the balsamic vinegar adds a nice accent.
In addition to ordering a la carte, you can add 2 hours of All you can drink. The biggest draw is that you can compare and enjoy as much as you like from about 40 kinds of Japanese sake that change daily.
The non-yakitori a la carte dishes also offer a full lineup of items that are perfect as small bites to snack on, which makes this place hard to resist for Japanese sake lovers.

This restaurant is the first Tokyo location of a popular Osaka restaurant. It is built around the concept of pairing yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) with Japanese sake.
The table seats have partitions, creating a spacious layout where you do not have to worry about the next table. It is a setting where you can enjoy your meal in peace.

While carrying on the traditions of the Honten, it also brings in a modern Shibuya style and serves dishes that let you feel the depth of yakitori (grilled chicken skewers).
They use high quality branded chicken that changes daily, and they will guide you to Japanese sake that pairs well with each type of chicken and cut.

There are also many original creative otsumami (small plates to go with drinks). The "Shifuku no Potesara," short for potato salad, is arranged almost like a cake and has a cute look.
This dish features smoothly strained potatoes with accents of herbs and bacon, topped with a soft-boiled egg.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) were even bigger than they looked in the photos. They were grilled to be super juicy inside, and with one bite, the juices and flavor spilled out. "Kushiyaki BISTRO Fukumimi Shibuya Ten" is a casual izakaya (Japanese pub) that blends the easygoing feel of a bistro with authentic yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). The restaurant is located in a basement space just off a side street near Dogenzaka.
The counter seats, which feel almost like a bar, are especially appealing. You can watch the grill chef's skill up close, and the nice aroma of charcoal fire is said to whet your appetite.

Yakitori can be ordered à la carte from a single skewer, and it is also popular for being reasonably priced.
The yakitori is grilled over binchotan (high grade charcoal), known for its intense heat, and is said to have an excellent level of doneness that locks in the flavor. They use chicken from Kyushu, and it is said to be delicious with a sweet and savory sauce that pairs very well.

The “jika-sei tsukune (house-made chicken meatball skewer)” is a skewer made with hand-kneaded ground chicken mixed with onion and grilled until plump and tender.
The sauce mixes with the juicy meat juices for a taste that keeps people coming back, and many customers order it again. It also goes well with karashi (Japanese mustard) or egg yolk.

The kushiyaki (grilled skewers) made with fresh ingredients are all packed with flavor, with the meat’s juiciness standing out in particular. They pair perfectly with drinks, and another big draw is the wide selection of beverages. The warm service from the staff is also pleasant, making this a great place to stop by casually with friends or coworkers.

At this yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and chicken specialty restaurant, you can order completely à la carte, or get the Omakase 5-skewer set and add a few more based on what you like. The skewers are on the small side and not very filling, but that may be the idea so you can try many different kinds. The prices are low, so it is easy to order casually.

The menu centers on yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) made with Domestic jidori (free-range chicken), grilled over Tosa binchotan (high-grade Japanese white charcoal). It burns at a high heat, and its far-infrared effect helps lock in the meat’s flavor.
They offer standard yakitori such as thigh, skin, Heart, and tsukune (chicken meatball), and because they use fresh chicken sourced On-the-Day, each skewer is said to be free of off notes and especially juicy.

They say the dishes shipped directly from Kirishima, Kagoshima Prefecture, one of Japan’s leading chicken production regions, are a must.
The “Kuro-Satsuma Jidori (free-range chicken) Liver and Sunagimo (gizzard) Sashimi” is popular as a dish you can enjoy only because of its outstanding freshness. The light sear adds a nice toasty aroma, the texture is crisp and pleasantly firm, and the chicken’s natural sweetness makes it excellent.

The yakitori and tsukune (chicken meatballs) are carefully grilled one skewer at a time, and every other dish is delicious too. The chef’s dedication and warm personality are part of what makes this place so appealing.

It seems to be famous for sumiyaki (charcoal grilling), including yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) as well as charcoal grilled meat dishes. It takes a little time for the food to come out, but the taste is excellent. They do not have an assortment style menu, but when we said, "Anything is fine!" they brought us various tasty dishes.

The All you can eat yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and yasai-maki (vegetable wrapped skewers) was very good. The yakitori was crisp on the outside and juicy inside, with a clear smoky aroma from the charcoal grill. The yasai-maki also had a nice charcoal aroma, and the sweetness of the vegetables paired perfectly with the rich flavor of the meat, making them so tasty I wanted to keep eating more and more.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) are prepared in-house every day, with each skewer carefully assembled by hand. In addition to chicken, the skewers of vegetables wrapped in pork are also popular.
They wrap shishito peppers, negi (green onion), and shiitake mushrooms, then quickly grill them over charcoal. The vegetables are said to soak up the pork’s sweet fat.
This time, we booked an All you can eat yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) course. There was a wide variety of yakitori, and everything was grilled just right. The negima (chicken and scallion skewer) and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) were especially good. It also came with All you can drink, and at this price, the meal was more than enough for Manzoku. The restaurant was a little lively, but it had a fun atmosphere that made drinking there enjoyable.

・Yakitori assortment
A nice point is that you can enjoy both salt and tare sauce at the same time, and the salt seasoning was simple but really brought out the good flavor of the chicken! The tare sauce, on the other hand, had a rich taste with both sweetness and umami that I kept coming back for!

・Yakitori assortment
It was a 6-skewer assortment of momo (thigh), negima (chicken and scallion), mune (breast), sunagimo (gizzard), liver, kawa (skin), and seseri (neck meat). Since they grill them over charcoal, the aroma is really nice. The skewers were also large and satisfying to eat.

Everything is priced the same, so you can enjoy drinks with peace of mind. Knowing that the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) are carefully skewered one by one by local people (+ Domestic meat), I happily spent my time enjoying a mega mug that went down smooth along with the delicious yakitori in tare sauce, salt, and pepper flavors.
