Tori Kami GARDEN CITY

Tori Kami GARDEN CITY is a 7-minute walk from Tenjin Subway Station. Located inside Daimyo Garden City, this yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) restaurant has a refined, luxurious feel with a black-toned interior.

At the 18-seat counter, you can watch the skewers being grilled up close, while the attentive service and polished setting create a Special time.

The Omakase course features carefully grilled Special jidori (local chicken) by cut, including Arita-dori (chicken from Saga Prefecture) and Date-dori (chicken from Fukushima).

Some say the fragrant aroma of charcoal and the juicy texture stand out, and the course also includes vegetable skewers and single dishes for a setup you can enjoy with all five senses.

To finish the meal, they serve rice cooked in a Clay Pot.

They use different brands of Domestic rice, such as Tsuyahime from Yamagata Prefecture and Ryunohitomi from Gifu Prefecture, each with plump grains and a nice sweetness. You can also enjoy it as ochazuke (rice with tea or broth).

Ethandesuka

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was very good, with a nicely charred surface, while the inside stayed juicy and tender, with a clear charcoal grilled flavor. On top of that, the chef’s way of sprinkling salt looked so cool, and the seasoning was perfect, almost like watching a performance. Just watching it made my appetite grow, and I could hardly wait for it to finish grilling.

It really made me realize that timing is everything when cooking meat, and this was served at exactly the best moment, so I enjoyed it a lot. It was grilled chicken, but it felt different from yakitori. The Clay Pot rice was so good that it really impressed me. They also had a nice selection of wine, and I was very Manzoku.

Yakitori Morimoto

Yakitori Morimoto is a calm, hideaway-style yakitori restaurant located in a building in the Haruyoshi area, a short walk from the busy Nakasu district of Fukuoka and 4 minutes on foot from Tenjinminami Subway Station.

It has counter seating and Private room seating, so you can enjoy conversation and your meal in a quiet setting. The attentive service also adds to the high level of Manzoku.

The “Omakase course” centers on Toyo no Shamo (a jidori chicken breed) from Oita, with each cut cooked to bring out its best. The fragrant aroma of Hyuga binchotan (high-grade charcoal) is said to bring out the chicken’s rich flavor even more.

The rare cut “chochin” is a striking dish, with rich egg yolk that pops in your mouth.

The “oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl)” made with shamo meat and soft, runny egg is said to blend the rich flavor of the chicken with the mildness of the egg, making for a satisfying finish.

Some say this carefully prepared bowl is a fitting final dish for the Omakase course.

There are 8 counter seats, arranged in an L-shape around a white wood table, so you are close to the grill, and it is very clean! The only course is Omakase. If you order drinks, they can also introduce you to a variety of local sake options. Every dish makes you nod in approval, and the grilling in particular is spot on, so there is nothing to complain about.

With its chic interior and the warmth of wood, the counter seats let you enjoy the aroma of charcoal grilling and attentive service, making it a great place for a Special evening.

The "mune-kushi" made with Amakusa Daio (large Japanese chicken breed) is finished fragrant and juicy by wrapping it in skin before grilling.

It is said to be popular for its moist texture and concentrated umami, making it a favorite menu item where you can fully enjoy the flavor of the chicken.

The kashiwa-meshi (seasoned rice with chicken flavor) packed with chicken umami is a perfect dish to finish the meal.

The rice, carefully cooked in a Clay Pot, is plump and fluffy grain by grain, and people say it pairs well with the lingering flavors of the skewered dishes. If you like, you can also get it to go.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), carefully grilled one by one by the owner, had a fragrant outside and a juicy inside, and tasted great. I especially liked furisode (shoulder meat) and kimo (liver), and the tare sauce was also perfectly balanced. It paired excellently with the drinks, and the conversation naturally picked up, making for a really enjoyable time.

Yakitori no Hachibei Tenjin Ten

A 10-minute walk from Tenjin Station. Yakitori no Hachibei Tenjin Ten is a lively yakitori restaurant.

The kominka (traditional Japanese house)-style space, where you take off your shoes before stepping in, feels warm and inviting, and at the counter seats arranged around the grill like an irori (sunken hearth), you can enjoy watching the cooking up close.

It also pairs perfectly with Japanese sake, making it a flavor that goes great with drinks.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) are served salted over cabbage with a vinegar sauce.

The classic butabara (pork belly) is grilled until nicely fragrant, and is said to be juicy and very satisfying. Careful prep brings out the natural good flavor of the ingredients in each skewer.

あゆねる

The seating looks to be mostly counter seats, which gives the place a homey feel. The staff were cheerful, and the atmosphere was nice too. I had bagna cauda, skewers, goma no kanpachi (amberjack with sesame), and cheese tofu, but... the goma no kanpachi in particular had firm, thick slices of fish and was incredibly satisfying to eat.

ファラオン

The lively interior adds to the fun. I thought the cabbage topped with a light, tangy sauce was the otoshi (small appetizer), but they actually keep placing the freshly grilled yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) on it as they come off the grill. I ate my fill of the bonjiri (chicken tail) and chicken skin that my friend recommended.

The signature dish, "Kiyokawa de Ichiban Sexy na Oteba Kara-age," is crisp on the outside and tender and juicy inside. The salt is perfectly balanced, and the burst of juices the moment you bite into it is said to be irresistible.

Bold yet refined, it is a dish that goes very well with beer or a highball.

Reservations are a must! It was fully booked again this time. Since it was crowded, it took about 30 minutes for the first yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) to come out, but the staff were very pleasant, and I think the busyness is just part of what comes with a popular place. Ordering by QR code makes it easy♪ The inside is clean too, and it feels comfortable. Every yakitori was tasty, and I was Manzoku. I’ll be back again.

評価は中辛、顔は甘口

The menu ranges from standard yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) to creative skewers and even sashimi (raw sliced fish), so it works well as an izakaya (Japanese pub), too. We had the 5-kind sashimi platter, pork belly, tsukune (chicken meatball skewer), and a few creative skewers. They really highlight Nagasaki, and there were lots of menu items labeled Unzen and Shimabara. The sashimi and tofu were very good. It was a great meal.

あんどおぅ。

The staff are friendly and very considerate, too. The grilled items, from creative skewers to the classic ones, are on a whole different level. The tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) is especially one I’d definitely order again. I heard it is a mix of beef, pork, chicken, and fish. It is juicy and great. Even the way the person in charge of the grill carefully cooks each skewer is picture perfect. The side dishes and drinks are also really good.

Torikawaya Tonari no Kokko

Torikawaya Tonari no Kokko is a yakitori restaurant next to the Honten, Torikawaya Kokko, and is a 5-minute walk from Tenjin Station on the subway.

The calm Japanese-style space has a hideaway feel and is very comfortable, and from the counter seats surrounding the grill, you can watch the chefs at work.

"torikawa (chicken skin skewers)," a local specialty that is also one of Fukuoka's signature foods, is crisp and fragrant on the outside and pleasantly chewy inside. By grilling it slowly, the rich flavor of the fat comes through, and the sauce soaks in just right.

Served on a warm Teppan-yaki plate, you can enjoy it piping hot and tasty to the very last bite.

The dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet with broth) made with chicken stock is a dish known for its soft, fluffy texture.

With the rich taste of the broth coming through clearly, it is popular as a nice palate cleanser between bites of skewered dishes.

馬込慶次

The best part to start with was the warm mini Teppan-yaki plate in front of the counter. They place the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) on it. That small touch made me strangely happy, and... “just the right balance” must be exactly what people mean when they talk about the yakitori here! The balance of flavor and salt was really spot on. I’m definitely coming back.

makoron22

Besides kawa (chicken skin), there were lots of skewers! The sasami (chicken tender) was plump, and it went really well with the tart ume (pickled plum) ♪ I also recommend the jaga-mentai (potato with pollock roe) and the extra-long asparagus \(^o^)/The staff were friendly, and the service was great ◎

Torikizoku Tenjin Oyafuko Dori Ten

A 5-minute walk from Tenjin Subway Station, Torikizoku in Fukuoka City's downtown district is a yakitori restaurant chain with locations across Japan.

The lively service and dishes that arrive at a good pace are well liked, and the bright interior with its wood-based design feels warm and relaxing.

The house specialty, “momo kizoku-yaki (grilled chicken thigh skewer),” is a classic skewer made with thick cut Domestic chicken thigh and sweet green onion.

Pair it with condiments like salt or sansho (Japanese pepper) for even more depth of flavor. It is well liked for being packed with umami and nicely satisfying.

The freshly cooked kamameshi (rice cooked in a small pot) is made over a small flame, and the rice steams as it cooks, with a rich aroma and soft, fluffy texture.

Its gentle, comforting flavor has won it many fans, and it is a perfect dish to finish the meal.

H.E.A8779

No matter which Torikizoku location you visit, the staff always seem cheerful and give good service, and it was the same in Fukuoka. Since it was the weekend, there was a bit of a wait, but I think it was within an acceptable range(^^)Thank you for keeping the same quality in Fukuoka as well^_^

さりお49

They have sasami (chicken tenderloin), tsukune (chicken meatball skewer), skin, pork belly, nankotsu (chicken cartilage), and more. As expected, chicken is the main focus. It was a shame that the Kara-age was sold out. Each yakitori order comes with two skewers. We enjoyed all kinds of dishes while the conversation kept flowing, so it is hard to comment on each one, but the one that made me think, “This is great fresh off the grill!” was the teba (chicken wing, salt)! The skin was crisp, the meat was juicy, and it went perfectly with drinks!

I visited Yakitori Tadashi near Hakata Station. It was not on the menu when I made the reservation, but when I said I could not eat that much, they told me, "We also have a smaller course," so I booked it with the JPY2000 All you can drink option. Each yakitori skewer was big and high quality, and a nice variety of dishes came out, so I left feeling Manzoku.

Popular restaurants where you can enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) in the Gofukumachi, Higashi Koen, and Marine Messe Fukuoka area of Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture

Yakitori no Goshi

Yakitori no Goshi, about a 7-minute walk from Gofukumachi Station, is a homey yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) restaurant with counter and table seating on the first floor and zashiki (tatami seating) on the second floor.

It has a casual but clean feel, and its warm atmosphere bustling with many guests is part of its appeal.

The skewer menu has all the classics, including pork belly, negima (chicken and scallion skewer), and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer), and each one is grilled to a fragrant finish.

The pork belly stands out for its perfect seasoning, with rich flavor packed into every bite. The "torikawa (chicken skin)" in the photo is also known for its tender texture, and people say the aroma of charcoal really whets the appetite.

The signature "Spicy Chicken" is a popular dish of bone-in chicken grilled well, with a kick of spices that makes it hard to stop eating.

It goes great with beer or a highball, and while it is satisfying and filling, it is said to be so good that you can finish it in no time.

I started by ordering a few yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). Beginning with chicken skin, I tried a variety of skewers, and every one was a winner. I was also happy that they brought everything out quickly. They also have a full lineup of à la carte dishes, and I ended up eating too much. I found a great place that is easy to drop into even when drinking alone.

ライ・ラララライ

If you just want to eat a lot of chicken, this is the place for you! It has counter seating for solo diners, table seating, and second floor seating for groups, so it works for different occasions. You can order yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) from just one skewer, which is great if you want to try a variety of things. The bone-in spicy chicken comes in a portion you can easily finish in one plate, and it goes perfectly with beer or a highball♪

Popular restaurants for enjoying yakitori in the Ohori Park and Mizuho PayPay Dome area of Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture

Kego Furuya

Close to Ohori Koen (Ohori Park), a favorite place for Fukuoka locals to relax, and about a 10-minute walk from Sakurazaka Station on the subway. Kego Furuya is a yakitori restaurant set in a quietly charming renovated old house.

The calm, all-counter interior, along with the lighting and comfortable spacing, creates a dining time suited to adults.

The seseri (neck meat) with oba (perilla) leaves, grilled over charcoal using Sazanami-dori (chicken from Kurume), is said to be light in fat with concentrated flavor.

The fresh aroma of oba brings out the rich taste of the chicken, making this skewer popular for the lingering finish that spreads along with the charcoal aroma.

The "Omakase course" offers about 16 dishes, mixing in seafood and seasonal vegetables, including abalone with liver sauce.

Along with chicken dishes grilled over Kishu Binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal from Kishu), you can also enjoy high-quality seafood. The rich flavor of the liver pairs well with Japanese sake.

What stood out most to me were the yakitori skewers, especially the sunagimo (gizzard) and seseri (neck meat), and also the shrimp and corn spring rolls. The sunagimo had a nice firmness but was still tender, and it was the best I’ve ever had. Since almost all the cooking is handled by one person, there can often be a bit of a wait, but you can relax over 2 hours and enjoy a variety of dishes, so the level of satisfaction is high.

The space has real style, the owner is friendly, and the staff are polished and fun to talk with. The storefront looks compact, but once you step inside, it opens up into a spacious and calming setting that made for an elegant time. The food is all about bringing out the best in the ingredients. I love fried horse mackerel, so I got really excited when they brought it out. The awabi (abalone) was plump and springy, and it felt like the best I’ve ever had!
