About a 5-minute walk from JR Tokyo Station, Isehiro is a yakitori restaurant established in 1921, popular for both family lunches and business occasions.
The interior exudes an elegant and tranquil atmosphere, offering a variety of seating options including tables, private rooms, and counter seats in front of the grill.

For lunch, Isehiro offers a choice of yakitori rice bowls or set meals, each served with a special chicken broth and pickles. You can select the number of skewers to suit your appetite.
The yakitori is grilled over ubamegashi binchotan charcoal, resulting in a fragrant char on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and flavorful. The skewers include options such as chicken meatballs and chicken skin.

By grilling fresh chicken over a close flame, the flavors become deeply concentrated, resulting in yakitori so delicious you'll want to savor every bite.
Pictured is the "Yakitori 7 Skewer Set Meal" (sasami, sunagimo, negimaki, tsukune, thigh, skin, and liver). Enjoy the springy texture of the thigh meat and the clean taste of the liver, among other carefully selected cuts.

Yakitori 5 Skewer Rice Bowl
First up, the chicken thigh (Negima)—incredibly juicy and flavorful. Next, the chicken skin. Exceptionally delicious, with the perfect balance of crispy skin and tender meat. Finally, the liver—remarkably fresh and full of rich flavor. Every skewer was delicious, but I was especially impressed by how outstanding the liver was!

Yakitori 9 Skewer Set Meal
Visited just after 1:00 PM on a Saturday. There was a line of about 30 people outside, but thanks to the large number of seats and quick turnover, I was able to get in within an hour. I originally planned to order the yakitori rice bowl, but decided to try the 9 skewer set meal instead. Every skewer was delicious, but the tsukune (chicken meatball) was especially outstanding.

Mapo Tofu
I used to be hesitant about Szechuan-style mapo tofu because I'm not fond of Sichuan pepper, so I was a bit nervous to try it. Surprisingly, I found it quite enjoyable—maybe a sign I've grown up? Out of all the mapo tofu I've had, this was the spiciest and most delicious! The generous portion size left me fully satisfied. The attentive service from the staff was also impressive, making the experience even better.

Shrimp and Crab Lettuce Fried Rice
For the main dish, you can choose one item from 13 varieties of noodles or rice dishes. This time, I chose the fried rice. It features three plump jumbo shrimp and plenty of shredded crab meat. While fried rice at upscale Chinese restaurants is often lightly seasoned, this version is packed with bold flavors—a style I personally prefer.

A long-awaited visit! On this day, the rice served was "Masshigura" from Aomori—exceptionally delicious. You can enjoy up to three Hamburg Steaks, and unlimited rice refills are free, which is a great bonus. The Hamburg Steaks are juicy and flavorful, and it's easy to finish one in no time. Enjoy the first steak as is, the second with freshly grated Japanese radish and ponzu sauce (known as "Oni Oroshi"), and the third with a soft-cooked egg. Each combination was outstanding! The photo features a three-piece dim sum platter from the course menu, including "Steamed Shrimp and Pea Shoot Dumplings" and "Scallop Shumai."
Each item highlights the plump texture of the shrimp and the natural flavors of the ingredients. All dim sum selections are also available à la carte.

The “Crispy Bean Curd Sheet and Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll” features a silky, chewy rice flour wrapper paired with the satisfying crunch of fried bean curd sheets—a delightful contrast in textures.
YAUMAY offers an impressive selection of standout dim sum dishes. Ordering several varieties to share is highly recommended.

The dim sum here is the best I have ever had in Japan—every dish is outstanding! My personal favorite is the Shark Fin Dumpling Soup. Both the soup and the dumplings are generously filled with shark fin.

Every dish was truly delicious—I could have kept eating forever if my body allowed! The standout for me was the cheung fun: the familiar, chewy and silky rice noodle roll was wrapped around crispy fried yuba, creating a delightful contrast between the crunchy inside and the soft, springy exterior. We couldn’t help but wonder how they make it and how they manage to roll it up so perfectly as we enjoyed each bite.
