Exceptional Gourmet Lunches Near Tokyo Station: Featuring Restaurants Selected as Tabelog 100

Isehiro Kyobashi Honten

About a 5-minute walk from JR Tokyo Station, Isehiro is a yakitori restaurant established in 1921, popular for both family lunches and business occasions.

The interior exudes an elegant and tranquil atmosphere, offering a variety of seating options including tables, private rooms, and counter seats in front of the grill.

For lunch, Isehiro offers a choice of yakitori rice bowls or set meals, each served with a special chicken broth and pickles. You can select the number of skewers to suit your appetite.

The yakitori is grilled over ubamegashi binchotan charcoal, resulting in a fragrant char on the outside while keeping the inside juicy and flavorful. The skewers include options such as chicken meatballs and chicken skin.

By grilling fresh chicken over a close flame, the flavors become deeply concentrated, resulting in yakitori so delicious you'll want to savor every bite.

Pictured is the "Yakitori 7 Skewer Set Meal" (sasami, sunagimo, negimaki, tsukune, thigh, skin, and liver). Enjoy the springy texture of the thigh meat and the clean taste of the liver, among other carefully selected cuts.

Yakitori 5 Skewer Rice Bowl

First up, the chicken thigh (Negima)—incredibly juicy and flavorful. Next, the chicken skin. Exceptionally delicious, with the perfect balance of crispy skin and tender meat. Finally, the liver—remarkably fresh and full of rich flavor. Every skewer was delicious, but I was especially impressed by how outstanding the liver was!

Yakitori 9 Skewer Set Meal

Visited just after 1:00 PM on a Saturday. There was a line of about 30 people outside, but thanks to the large number of seats and quick turnover, I was able to get in within an hour. I originally planned to order the yakitori rice bowl, but decided to try the 9 skewer set meal instead. Every skewer was delicious, but the tsukune (chicken meatball) was especially outstanding.

We were able to compare wild and farmed eel from different regions, and the staff explained the unique qualities of each. With reservations required every two months, this is a restaurant that makes you look forward to your next visit.

This restaurant specializes in just one dish—pho—so service is quick! Most importantly, their pho is incredibly easy to enjoy. The beef is tender and flavorful without any gamey taste, while the cilantro and other fresh vegetables add great depth. The noodles are perfectly cooked and generously portioned. Adding lime and other condiments makes it even more enjoyable. The restaurant itself is also clean and inviting.

The pizza arrived quickly after ordering. Served piping hot and fresh from the oven, the large pizza featured a delightfully chewy crust with a subtle sweetness and just the right hint of salt—truly delicious. It's easy to see why this place is so popular. The Margherita was served first, followed by the Marinara, which had a bold punch of garlic. Both were exceptionally tasty, with the Marinara especially leaving a strong impression.
