麹町の立飲み屋「しろ」を後に、どんどん新宿通りを歩く。
上智を通り過ぎ三丁目方面に向かうと、来るたびに懐かしい街並みに胸が痛いような気持ちになった。
大好きなバー、「四谷こくている」のすぐ向かいにあるお店「まことや」。
やきとんをいただけるお店だ。
メンバーが次々やってきて5人での宴。
10数年前、この界隈で一緒に働いていた仲間との忘年会だった。
思い思いの飲み物をたのむ。
私はハイボールで。
ぼんじり、つくね、れば、ちれ、かしらを3本づつ。
たれと塩は、お店にそれぞれの串にあうものをおまかせ。
ハラミの炒め、ポテサラとマカサラのハーフ＆ハーフ、豆苗のナムル、アジフライ、キャベツ味噌、銀杏など一気に注文を。
人気店とあって常に予約で満席。
けれどもお客さんは騒ぐこともなく、比較的静かに飲んでいる。
大人の街ならではだろうか？
串は大ぶりにふっくら焼けていて美味しい。
豆苗のナムルはさっぱりしていながら、豆苗の風味がよくて美味だった。
しいたけ、ししとう、ハムカツ、煮込みなどを追加。
当時の会社の話など、懐かしい話で否応なく盛り上がる。
四丁目の交差点には、まだ岡田○○子の幽霊がでるのだろうかと誰かが言いだす。
俺みたことあるんだよな、などと言う者も…
当時のメンバーで10数年を過ぎた今、こうしてやきとんをつついているのが不思議過ぎる気がした。
全員が同じだけ年をとり、それぞれの道を歩いている今。
誰もここで仕事を続けている者はいない。
当時の懐かしい記憶が全員の胸にあるだけ。
ひとりそれぞれ3杯～5杯くらい飲み、太っ腹の子が5000円を出して、あとは3000円ほどづつ。
荒木町とは思えない、気軽でお手頃なお店。
