2023年10月のとある平日19時過ぎに訪ねた。
内幸町駅から徒歩3,4分ほどの場所にあるそばチェーン店「吉そば 西新橋店」。
店外の食券機で「野菜バラ天そば」¥520を選択する。
それほど広くない店内には先客なし。
注文カウンターに食券を提示し、3分ほど待って料理を受け取ってからカウンター席に座って食べる。
かけそばとは別皿で野菜バラ天と刻みネギが付く。
まずはネギをかけそばに投入する。
玉ネギ、春菊、ニンジンの天ぷらが盛られている。ちょっとずつかけそばに入れて、つゆに浸しながら味わう。
玉ネギの甘みが心地好い。春菊の爽やかな風味とほんのり感じる苦みも良い。ニンジンは食感が心地好い。
細めの蕎麦と鰹節の風味が効いたつゆのバランスがそれなりに良いので、野菜バラ天が良い塩梅で馴染む。
どことなく上品な野菜天そばを食べる。刻みネギの爽やかな後味が心地好い。
卓上の七味唐辛子を振りかけてアクセントを加えながら満喫する。天ぷらの油が滲み出たつゆにコクが増して違った美味しさが楽しめる。
それなりにお得な値段設定の「吉そば」で悪くない天ぷらそばを食べることが出来た。ビジネス街から少し離れた場所で労働後に蕎麦を落ち着いて食べられる場所がそこにあった。
