Located along the former Route 141, now Prefectural Road 138, in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, this bakery has been around for quite some time.
After getting off the Shinkansen at JR Sakudaira Station and renting a car to head towards Nobeyama, I stopped by this place.
I first tasted their famous "Milk Bread" about 45 years ago, and it has been a beloved treat throughout Nagano Prefecture. They also sell a traditional sweet called "Shinano Diary," which has been around for ages.
I purchased:
- Milk Bread: JPY 249
- Medium Milk Bread: JPY 171
- Shinano Diary (3 pieces): JPY 389
The Milk Bread is as delicious as the one from Matsumoto's Komatsu Bakery. It had been a long time since I last enjoyed it. By the way, I gave the medium-sized one as a souvenir to my wife.
The cream is refreshing yet rich, making it delightful. The Shinano Diary, filled with apricots and blueberries, is also exceptional.
Its flavor rivals that of "Raicho no Sato," making it a perfect souvenir.
