I first visited when the restaurant was located on Tennis Court Street. At that time, it had a "No children under elementary school age" policy, so until I entered middle school—and especially during my grandfather's lifetime, when he wouldn't wait in line for meals—I could only get takeout. After that, I would go around 4:30 PM before opening to write my name down and estimate the time until my number was called.
Since moving to its current location on Hondori Street, I hadn't been as frequent until I decided to visit again after selling my vacation home. The menu included yakitori, motsuyaki, stews, and katsu-don. Both my nearly 80-year-old parents, who have become picky eaters, and my 10-year-old son left very satisfied after the meal. When my son started devouring the stew that he hadn't ordered, the restaurant's old rule of "no extra servings of stew" came to mind, and I braced myself for the worst, but luckily, it was all fine.
The owner has changed, but the tastes are truly nostalgic—it's a flavor that has remained unchanged for half a century.
