Nagano Wine Specialty Store
Nagano's wine selection is among the best in Japan, boasting nearly 300 varieties! Why not enjoy a drink on the terrace, which has been renovated from an old station building, and soak in the travel vibes? |
After a work dinner in Karuizawa, I felt like having a quick drink, so I came here since it was close to my hotel and looked good.
There were a few customers, but the counter was open, so I sat there.
The menu for glass wines was written on a blackboard on the wall, so I asked the staff for a glass of sparkling wine. Since I had just finished dinner and didn’t have much appetite left, I ordered the cream cheese marinated in tamari soy sauce.
The wine seemed to mainly feature Japanese varieties.
Sipping the sparkling wine while enjoying the marinated cream cheese was quite delightful. As I started to feel a nice buzz, I ordered another glass of white wine.
The white wine paired well with the cream cheese, and I left the place feeling pleasantly tipsy and satisfied. I think the bill was around JPY 2000.
Karuizawa tends to give the impression of being filled with elegant, wealthy places where people laugh and enjoy themselves, so having a relaxed spot to enjoy wine like this is truly appreciated by common folks like me.
I'll definitely come back when I want to casually enjoy some wine again.
This wine bar, located right next to the station, is quite a gem.
