３連休はレジが長蛇の列でした・・・ : Delifrance Karuizawa Ten

Whenever I visit the shopping center in Karuizawa, I always end up having lunch here. On weekdays, it’s quite pleasant since it’s not crowded, but on this day, being a three-day weekend, there was a long line at the register. Of course, the restaurant was also fully packed. Fortunately, since I arrived a bit later for lunch, it was manageable, but I imagine it would have been difficult to find a seat around noon.
Although it’s a chain, the bread from Delifrance in Karuizawa tastes especially good.
I purchased an Angel Soft (JPY 366), Salted Butter French Bread (JPY 234), Churro Stick (Cinnamon) (JPY 280), and a Baguette S (Spicy Beef) (JPY 662). The Baguette S (Spicy Beef) can be cut into three pieces, making it easy to enjoy. The Angel Soft is fluffy and delicious as well. I believe the same items are likely available at other locations, but for some reason, they taste even better when enjoyed at the Karuizawa branch. In fact, I’ve mostly only been to the Delifrance in Karuizawa (laughs).

I visited the Karuizawa Outlet Shopping Center for the first time in a while. I arrived at 9:30 AM, but be careful as it gets crowded quickly. Thankfully, since it was before Black Friday, the parking lot was still relatively empty. If it had been Black Friday, I think even arriving at 9:30 would have been tough. After browsing various shops and feeling quite hungry, I thought about having lunch, but by just after noon, all the restaurants in the shopping center were packed. Realizing the situation, I decided to head to this restaurant, which had been less crowded in the past.

While their bread is a bit pricey, I enjoy relaxing and taking in the garden view. To my delight, I was able to secure a seat! Although it seemed fairly empty at the time, I was pleased.

After getting a table, I purchased some bread inside. I bought various items, including a baguette sandwich with spicy beef (JPY 650). The baguette is long, but they cut it for you when you dine in—this time into three pieces. I also ordered iced coffee and tea, along with some other pastries.

It seems that, like true bread, water is essential for the flavor. The bread here is delicious. This is indeed a chain, but the quality can vary by location. I believe there’s one in Kawagoe as well, which I would like to visit next time. I enjoyed the classic dishes at this well-established spot and felt satisfied. Since I was able to spend my time leisurely, I plan to come back again.

I visited Karuizawa for the first time in a while this Sunday! Wow, it's getting quite cold, isn't it? I think it might soon be necessary to have snow tires. By the way, I also skied at the Karuizawa ski resort (laughs). Anyway, I arrived just after 9 AM to enjoy some shopping. Unfortunately, most shops weren’t open yet. As expected. However, the parking lot was nice and empty, which felt great. While browsing through various stores, I started to get hungry. On a Sunday, it seems like every restaurant was quite busy. Thankfully, this bakery was not crowded, so I was lucky. The breads at Delifrance looked a bit pricey, but they also looked delicious. Since buying two pieces would have cost over JPY 600, I decided to get their most popular item, the Spicy Beef Baguette Sandwich (JPY 570). I also ordered an iced coffee. When I placed my order, the female staff asked if I would like it cut, so I requested it to be cut into three pieces. Once it was cut, it looked even more appetizing. As soon as I tasted it, I knew it was delicious. The atmosphere in Karuizawa certainly adds to the experience. The clientele seemed to suit me well, which made for a calm dining experience, and the bread was truly tasty. I would love to come back again!
