A charming old-fashioned coffee shop in Karuizawa. Highly recommend the Sauce Katsudon.
Tenderloin Sauce Katsudon – Surprisingly served in a layered box
It should be able to fly in the sky.
I love Hayashi Rice. Recently, I've been making it at home using Chef Mikuni's recipe from the Hotel de Mikuni's YouTube channel. It's incredibly delicious. Check it out! It's made with Otakufu Sauce.
A beautiful tiered box arrives, surprising like a peach tree and a sansho tree.
Beautiful Blue
I eat vegetables too!!!
I think I'll have the Yakiniku Rice Bowl.

I've known about this place for a long time but this was my first visit. I've heard mixed reviews from friends—some love it, others not so much. But after coming, I understand why. It's a classic old-fashioned cafe in Karuizawa, indeed.
It was almost full, and there seemed to be a lot of regulars. I can see why my friend keeps coming back.
The cafe is run by an elderly couple, and at first, I thought the lady's service was a bit cold. However, once things settled down a bit, she became much friendlier.
Managing the place with just two people must be quite a challenge, and I found myself wanting to help out at times.
My son and I ordered the sauce katsudon, which my friends have recommended as the main dish. They offer both tenderloin and loin; I chose tenderloin this time.
Next time, I think I’ll try the loin.
My wife ordered hayashi rice.
The atmosphere is reminiscent of old-fashioned Karuizawa, with a nice view of Mt. Oshidate.
The cooking feels like home-cooked meals from a family who knows their way around the kitchen. The katsu and hayashi rice are both comforting.
They even have a katsu-hayashi option, which would be delicious! I feel like they would make that upon request.
I don’t dislike it! It's classic cafe food.
I think it’s quite nice, and I like the overall vibe.
I’ll definitely come back!
Here are some photos with my impressions.
