A long-established bakery in Karuizawa for over 80 years! Delicious bread baked in a Spanish stone oven!
Founded in 1933, we established our current location in Old Karuizawa Ginza in 1944, and have been serving customers for over 80 years. Our stone oven-baked bread is exceptional, and we offer many exclusive products available only in Karuizawa. |
May 2017
Is there a line outside the store?
Upon entering, it seems like waiting in line isn't necessary after all (laughs).
Being Japanese, we tend to follow the basic moral of lining up at the end of the queue ( ^)o(^ ).
However, this line might also serve as a catalyst to attract more customers!
Well, I successfully infiltrated the store!?
I came on my wife's request, but we didn’t have anything specific in mind to buy.
She just saw something online and said she wanted to go, so here we are... usually, we go to the bakery across the street (laughs).
The store is crowded, but the register in the back isn’t so busy.
There’s an eat-in area in the back where many customers were enjoying their bread.
I took a quick look at the products, but due to the crowd, I didn’t have time to savor them leisurely.
The pressure from other customers coming in after us was intense (@ ̄□ ̄@;)!!
In any case, I ended up with a large French baguette called Parisien, a Garlic French, and another one... a nut-filled bread with maple syrup.
However, the staff seemed busy, making it a bit uncomfortable to approach them.
I think the staff could pay a bit more attention to the customers—if they were more attentive, eye contact would signal a willingness to purchase!
For dinner that evening... I decided to eat at home.
The bread was, as expected, quite hard.
I enjoy eating the Parisien with a generous amount of margarine, savoring it with each bite to appreciate the flavor of the bread itself (#^^#).
The following morning, I decided to toast it.
Toasting enhances the aroma, making it even more delicious!
I find that cutting it thick and crisping the surface results in delightful flavors!!
And then I enjoyed it again at the dinner table (laughs).
I savored it in three portions!!
By the way... about the Garlic French, it was just okay—neither good nor bad.
It was a great meal (⌒∇⌒)
