I had some well-made Ramen!
This restaurant is located in Eden in front of Sendai Station. The courtyard-like area is a minus because smokers gather there, but once you enter the restaurant, it's not a problem. Well, the selection of Gyoza / Dumpling Gyoza / Dumpling Gyoza / Dumpling Gyoza / Dumpling Ramen Ramen" (650 yen), "Wontonmen" (750 yen), "Gomoku Ankake Ramen" (750 yen), and "Dandanmen" (750 yen). There are fried noodles such as "Mapo Tofu Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles)", "Gomoku Ankake Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles)", and "Green Pepper and Pork Stir Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) Noodles" (all 850 yen), and fried Yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) dishes such as "Fried Rice" (750 yen), "Chicken Lettuce Fried Rice" (850 yen), and "Char Siu Fried Rice" (850 yen). Wow, there are a lot of menus. There were a lot of things that caught my eye, but I wanted something light today, so I went for the normal "Ramen". I waited at the counter for a while. I sat in a position where I could see the kitchen, and I could see the wok being stirred in the back. I thought it would be easier to make, but (at least in my opinion) it was surprisingly well made. Then Ramen was served. The soy sauce-based soup was lightly sprinkled with back fat, and it was topped with half a soft-boiled egg, pork slices, bamboo shoots, green vegetables, naruto fish, and spring onions. It looked pretty good considering the 650 yen price. First, the soup. The sweetness of the back fat gave it quite a rich flavor. Not bad. The thin straight noodles also had a nice, chewy texture. This was good too. The pork slices were on the rich side, adding a nice accent. The boiled egg was similarly soft-boiled and thick. The bamboo shoots had a crunchy texture, which was also good. Well, prices have gone up, and a bowl of Ramen can cost nearly 1,000 yen these days, but for 650 yen this is the level you get. I was satisfied.

[2 minutes walk from Sendai Station!] A Gyoza / Dumpling bar that gets busy from noon! If you want to drink on the terrace, head to EDEN Kawaguchi!
It's a direct pedestrian deck from Sendai Station, and it's only a 2-minute walk away! We're open from noon!! From a wide variety of handmade Gyoza / Dumpling to standard Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) |
After the Sendai Hotel and other buildings were demolished, the restaurant was renamed EDEN, but it seems that redevelopment is finally about to begin. I'm sure it will open in a different location, but I'll have to visit again at least once! I visited the restaurant hoping to eat fried rice, but there were so many variations on it that I had a hard time deciding. The regular "fried rice" (750 yen) is probably a standard, but the "shrimp fried rice" and "chicken lettuce fried rice" (850 yen) also looked delicious. I ended up ordering the "kimchi fried rice" (800 yen), which is 50 yen more than the regular fried rice. I don't know if the regular version is light or fluffy, but once you choose kimchi, it becomes moist. If it was light and fluffy, I would have liked to try that as well, so I regretted ordering a little. The kitchen was working efficiently, and the food was served after a while. All the fried rice was labeled "large", but it was quite filling. Actually, the dish was a little deep and there was more than I expected (lol). There was kimchi on top of the fried rice. Naturally, there was a bit of kimchi in the rice as well. It wasn't dry and fluffy as I expected, but rather moist. But it was quite tasty. The other menu items looked good as well. The all-you-can-drink menu was also reasonably priced, and I'd like to come in the evening, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to find the time to visit...
