Nikutonya Nikumaru Shoten Yokohama North Port Ten

"Nikudonya Nikumaru Shoten Yokohama Northport Ten" is a specialist restaurant for Yakiniku Rice bowls, with its Honten in Osaka. This branch is on the 3rd floor of Northport Mall, a shopping center next to Center-Kita Station in Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama.

Located in the food court, the shop takes orders at the counter, and once you pick up your food, you can eat in the shared seating area.

The "Gyu Karubi Rice bowl" is their version of gyudon (beef bowl). They grill the beef after you order, then serve it over rice.

The slightly sweet sauce is nicely worked into the meat, and it goes great with the rice. You can choose from three different rice portions.

There are also arranged gyudon (beef Rice bowl) options, including one topped with egg yolk and another loaded with green onions.

The Osaka specialty soup called nikusui (soup with beef in bonito broth), made by adding beef to dashi taken from katsuobushi (bonito flakes), is also popular. The nikusui and Rice bowl set is said to be a good value.

ヨコチュー

The rich taste of the karubi Rice bowl and the light flavor of the nikusui (meat soup) were perfectly balanced, so I could enjoy the meal to the last bite without getting tired of it. Since it is in a food court, it has an easygoing atmosphere that makes it simple to stop by even alone, and that is a nice plus when you want to grab a bite while shopping✨

Seinikuten Kumamoto Kiyoto

Seinikuten Kumamoto Kiyoto is a meat restaurant about a 15-minute walk from Center Minami Station, run by a butcher shop that has been operating in Kumamoto Prefecture for over 80 years. You can enjoy Special cuts of meat unique to a butcher shop here in Yokohama.

The restaurant name "Kiyoto" comes from the first owner's name, and the third generation opened the restaurant in a residential area of Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama. It is a hideaway-like standalone spot.

Their signature dish is the akaushi Rice bowl. It uses akaushi, Wagyu from Kumamoto Prefecture known for leaner fat and rich red meat flavor because the cattle are pasture raised in the great outdoors.

This Rice bowl is topped with plenty of tender meat. They also serve a beef Rice bowl made with the rare cut Tri-tip.

In Kumamoto, aka-ushi (Japanese Brown beef) is also called "Aso-Oh" because it is raised in the vast natural surroundings of Aso.

They also serve thick-cut Aso-Oh steak. It is said to be delicious even when eaten simply with just salt and pepper.

I visited for lunch for the first time at a restaurant run directly by a butcher shop, where you can enjoy Kumamoto-gyu (Kumamoto beef). It stands quietly right in the middle of a residential area, and you would never guess there is a place here serving such good meat. I ordered the Kumamoto specialty akaushi Rice bowl, which was packed full of beef and was tender and delicious.

A hideaway restaurant in a residential area, with parking space for one car, and luckily I was able to park. On a friend’s recommendation, I ordered the akaushi Rice bowl (Japanese brown wagyu beef). The service was good, and the place had a relaxing feel. The meat was light and very tasty. I’d definitely like to come back again.

Yoshinoya Nagatsuta Ten

Yoshinoya, a gyudon (beef bowl) chain founded in Tokyo in 1899, has restaurants all over Japan. It has several restaurants in Yokohama as well, and this one is in Nagatsuta, Midori Ward, specializing in soba and beef bowls.

It is open from early morning until late at night, so you can stop by easily whenever you like.

The beef used in the signature Beef Rice bowl is imported. They use grain-fed beef with few off notes, and it is aged before being sliced.

To bring out more umami, they simmer the beef and onions in a large pot. Then they serve it over rice with the broth infused with the meat's flavor.

The soba uses noodles made with 100% soba flour. You can enjoy it simply on its own, and the set with Gyudon (beef rice bowl) is also popular.

They also offer soba dishes topped with simmered beef, as well as options topped with tempura like you would find at a soba specialty shop.

にんにくにくにくに

The gyudon (beef Rice bowl) was the usual Yoshinoya gyudon, with that reliably good taste. I forgot to ask for extra sauce when I ordered, so I requested some more sauce afterward. Thank you for kindly accommodating that. I like cracking a raw egg into it while it’s still hot to make the rice nice and soft. I’m also the type to pile the beni shoga (pickled red ginger) on high.

The gyudon (beef Rice bowl) goes without saying, with that reliably good taste. It is a must to load it up with beni shoga (pickled red ginger) and plenty of shichimi (seven-spice blend). It also goes surprisingly well with soba, and even feels a little luxurious. And then there is the standout 100% soba! It is on the thicker side with a strong soba character. The aroma is bold too, clearly setting it apart from the usual stand-up soba shops.

Matsuya Yokohama Nishiguchi Ten

Matsuya Yokohama Nishiguchi Ten is a restaurant chain with restaurants across Japan that mainly serves gyudon (beef Rice bowl). Besides gyudon, it is also known for its wide variety of menu items that you can enjoy quickly, easily, and at a low price, including curry and various set meals.

There are about 20 counter seats, making it easy to stop by even on your own, and it is Open 24 hours.

For "gyumeshi (beef bowl)," you can choose the portion size, from a smaller serving up to the "Tokumori" that is about enough for 2 portions. You can also make only the simmered beef and onion topping a Large size.

The beef is tender and has a light seasoning. Another nice point is that when you eat in, it comes with miso soup free of charge.

You can also make it a set meal with beef, a raw egg, salad, pickles, and more. It also looks fun to top the rice with egg, kimchi, and other items, and customize it to your liking.

They also offer a kids' menu and beer.

Matsuya really took care of me back in my student days. A bowl on the way home after a night of drinking is total Manzoku. Regular size with extra broth JPY480. It comes with miso soup, which is a Matsuya tradition. With prices going up so much these days, I think they are doing their best. Before entering, you order and pay at the touch panel, then take the paper ticket it prints out with you.

Thinking about how many years it had been since my last visit to Matsuya, I ordered the gyumeshi (beef bowl) set. Matsuya’s gyumeshi still has that lightly seasoned beef I like. It tastes great. For a Regular size, I was happy to see it came with quite a lot of rice. You can change up the flavor of the salad with sesame or French dressing. It’s nice that the miso soup comes with aburaage (deep-fried tofu).

Nakau Kannai Ten

Nakau Kannai Ten, about a 6-minute walk from Kannai Station, is known not only for its oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl) and udon made with a clear dashi from katsuobushi (bonito flakes) and kombu kelp, but also for its tasty gyudon (beef rice bowl).

Kannai Ten is also close to Yokohama Stadium. This restaurant is Open 24 hours, so you can stop by whenever you like.

Only beef that meets safety standards is used for the gyu-suki Rice bowl (beef sukiyaki rice bowl). They are particular about the balance of fatty and lean cuts, as well as the thickness of each slice, when making the beef Rice bowl.

It has a light, slightly sweet flavor that brings out the taste of the dashi (soup stock).

The signature dish is oyako-don (chicken and egg rice bowl), made with plenty of the dashi (Japanese soup stock) also used for the udon. The key to its good taste is how the soft egg, full of dashi, gently coats the warm rice.

Set menus pairing udon with oyako-don or gyu-don (beef rice bowl) are popular.

みうけん

Compared with gyudon (beef Rice bowl) from the major gyudon chains, this one feels a bit more lightly seasoned. Miuken always goes with the sauce-free option, but even then, the gyudon has a gentle flavor that makes it easy to eat. The rice is also cooked nice and fluffy Good!!

ざう!

They offer all the standard menu items, including oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl) and udon, and the taste is reliably good. The prices are reasonable, which makes this place helpful when you are a little hungry or short on time. It is easy to stop by even on your own, and that casual convenience is a nice plus. It is a handy place when you want an easy Japanese meal.

Sukiya Shin-Yokohama Ten

Sukiya, the gyudon (beef Rice bowl) chain with restaurants all across Japan. Along Stadium Street connecting Shin-Yokohama Station and Nissan Stadium, you will find Sukiya Shinyokohama Ten.

They offer counter seats that are easy to use even when dining alone, as well as table seating where you can relax and take your time.

The specialty here is gyudon (beef rice bowl), topped with thin slices of beef simmered in a soy sauce and sugar sauce, giving it a sukiyaki-like flavor.

You can choose from six sizes: Mini, Regular size, Medium, Large size, Extra Large, and Mega. One of the nice things is that you can pick the portion size based on how hungry you are.

They offer a wide variety of menu items, including Rice bowls topped with beef, Yakiniku, unagi (freshwater eel), and curry.

They also have options like gyudon (beef Rice bowl) topped with plenty of cheese or green onions, as well as lower-calorie, lower-carb menu items that use tofu and vegetables instead of rice.

青龍偃月刀

I ordered the classic gyudon (beef bowl) in a Regular size with salad and miso soup. As expected, it had that reliable good taste, and the beef and onions soaked in the sweet savory sauce went perfectly with the rice. Adding beni shoga (pickled red ginger) made it instantly more refreshing, and a sprinkle of shichimi (seven-spice chili pepper) gave it more punch and made it even more appetite-boosting. The portion was neither too much nor too little, just right for an everyday meal.
