[Okinawa Prefecture, Naha City] Restaurants Where You Can Enjoy Great Seafood

ALGOS ACQUAMARE

ALGOS ACQUAMARE is an Italian restaurant in the lively Makishi area in central Naha, Okinawa. It is a place where you can casually enjoy wine and seafood.

The interior uses emerald blue as an accent color and is inspired by Southern Italy. With the warmth of wood, it is a relaxing space.

The counter displays seafood brought in that day from both inside and outside the prefecture, which is also popular because you can choose what you like and have it cooked for you.

The specialty is acquapazza made with Okinawa-produced kariyushi kinmedai (golden eye snapper). You can enjoy Special seafood made with ingredients that are not available outside the prefecture.

A salad made with fresh vegetables and iwashi (sardines), dressed with an orange dressing, is also popular. They also serve carpaccio and simple grilled seafood.

Another draw is their lineup of wines that pair well with seafood.

Ma Wa

The recommended dish is a piping hot acquapazza (stew) made with one whole rare Okinawan brand fish shipped directly from Itoman, Okinawa: Kariyushi kinmedai (Kariyushi golden eye snapper). It comes on a sizzling Teppan-yaki plate, so you can enjoy the aroma too. It is packed with vegetables like mussels, Manila clams, and lemon. The soup is excellent, and the rich flavor soaks well into the fish. The flesh is firm and delicious.

うまやばし3

The mizudako (North Pacific giant octopus) from Hokkaido sitting on the table wasn’t on the menu, but they cooked it for us with garlic and taka no tsume (red chili pepper), and it was perfect with a drink. The thick, meaty legs had a great bite, the octopus was full of flavor, the garlic whetted the appetite, and the heat made you want another sip. The main was tachiuo (beltfish) acquapazza. The acquapazza was incredible. It was so good.

Minami no Shima no Bistro Ocean Good Table Kumoji

Minami no Shima no Bistro Ocean Good Table Kumoji is about a 3-minute walk from Kencho-mae Station, in Kumoji, an area of Naha City known for its many restaurants. It is a dining bar centered on seafood dishes with a focus on oysters.

The first floor has an open kitchen and sofa seating, while the second floor offers table seating that is also perfect for group meals.

This restaurant lets you enjoy oysters shipped directly from production regions in Japan and abroad all year round. Even while in Okinawa Prefecture, you can try oysters from places like the Tohoku region and the Chugoku region, which is part of its appeal.

They serve not only fresh oysters but also oil-marinated oysters and oven-baked oysters. It is a great pick for oyster lovers.

The course, which lets you enjoy dishes like seafood and Okinawa-ken (Okinawa Prefecture) pork grilled over firewood, is also popular. The finishing meal is a paella loaded with seafood.

You can also add an All you can drink plan to the course. They offer a wide selection of drinks, including wine and fruit cocktails.

カワアキ

Tucked just off Kokusai-dori (Kokusai Street), this hideaway spot combines the feel of an oyster bar with the casual ease of a bistro. Fresh nama-gaki (raw oysters) can be enjoyed A la carte or as a "2-type / 3-type tasting comparison," and they were also excellent grilled with garlic butter or served as ajillo, pairing perfectly with wine. The kaki rillettes and smoked oysters are perfect snacks to go with drinks.

Reopened in a new location. The restaurant is now a two-story space and even more stylish. The otoshi (small appetizer) bread was light and tasty too. Of course, I also made sure to have the oysters. Every single dish here is good. The pasta, the meat, and even the salad are all so delicious.

Kaki Goya Naha Sakurazaka

Kaki Goya Naha Sakurazaka is a restaurant where you can grill oysters and meat yourself at the grill built into the table as you eat.

It is about a 7-minute walk from Makishi Station, near Hyatt Regency Naha Okinawa. It is perfect when you want to enjoy a lively meal with friends or family.

For oyster lovers, the recommended option is the “All you can eat grilled oysters” course. It requires a reservation, but during the set time, you can eat as many grilled oysters that you cook yourselves and steamed oysters as you like.

It also comes with seafood ingredients such as shrimp, so you can fill up on fresh oysters.

Inside, fresh ingredients such as kaki (oysters) and asari (Japanese littleneck clams) are lined up, and another nice point is that you can choose what you like in a self service style.

You can also bring your own drinks for a fee. Bring wine, beer, soft drinks, or other beverages and enjoy an indoor barbecue.

TAKA0112

This was my first visit in a year. I came with a reservation in advance for the All you can eat option. I was a little disappointed that, unlike before, it was order-style All you can eat instead of going to get the food yourself, but that feeling disappeared because they kept bringing only large kaki (oysters), which was exciting every time for an oyster lover like me. It really felt like a meal centered on drinks and grilled oysters. I’ll come again!.

にこにこありさん

First of all, even though this is a restaurant centered on kaki (oysters), the best part is that they generously serve kaki as an otoshi (small appetizer)!!! The nama-gaki (raw oysters), kankan-yaki (steamed oysters cooked in a can), and grilled oysters each had their own great taste! The other à la carte dishes were good too!

[Okinawa Prefecture, Miyakojima City] Restaurants Where You Can Enjoy Great Seafood

Harry's Shrimp Truck

Harry's Shrimp Truck is a garlic shrimp spot on Miyakojima (Miyako Island), located about 300km southwest of Okinawa's main island. It stands near Nishihenna-zaki, a cape at the northern tip of Miyakojima known for its large wind turbines, which are the local symbol.

A large yellow American school bus makes it easy to find. The bus serves as the kitchen truck.

About a 30-minute drive from Miyako Airport, this popular spot draws many people who make the drive just to visit.

For dining, there is a two-story open space with no walls. From the second-floor area, you can also enjoy your meal while looking out over the blue sea.

The signature "garlic shrimp" uses original spices and sauce created together with a chef from a restaurant in Hawaii.

The butter and garlic seasoning is a popular choice. They also have non alcoholic beer, so you can relax and enjoy your food and drink even while on a drive.

The bright yellow food truck really stands out, and it looks beautiful against the blue sky. I was excited even before arriving to eat garlic shrimp in this tropical setting. I ordered the Garlic Butter (JPY1450). It came with plenty of shell on shrimp, and the aroma of garlic rising from the Teppan-yaki plate really whets the appetite.

The garlic shrimp is made with shrimp marinated in awamori (Okinawan distilled spirit) and herbs, and the flesh is plump and springy. It is coated in a tasty sauce with a nice garlic kick, and you will not be able to stop eating it. The plain version lets you fully enjoy the rich flavor of the garlic, while the Spicy Hot adds a pleasant touch of heat. Both were equally delicious.

Seafood Restaurant Shigira Turtle Bay

Seafood Restaurant Shigira Turtle Bay is located by the beautiful white sands of Shigira Coast on the southern side of Miyakojima (Miyako Island), surrounded by coral reefs. It is part of the nearby Shigira Seven Miles Resort.

This seafood restaurant is inside Hotel Shigira Mirage, which stands near the beach in the resort area. You can use it even if you are not staying at the hotel.

It has an open feel with glass walls, and terrace seating is also available beside a large pool. There are even sea turtles in the pool, so you can enjoy your meal while taking in a tropical resort mood.

The dishes are a highlight here, made with fresh ingredients from Okinawa Prefecture. You can order either a course meal or from the à la carte menu.

The breakfast buffet is popular. A wide variety of dishes, mainly seafood, are laid out, and you can serve yourself as much as you like.

You can enjoy grilled shrimp and hotate (scallops), as well as bisque soup packed with seafood flavor, and everything is said to be delicious.

・Breakfast buffet
So many dishes that it is hard to choose! Of course, I could not eat everything, so I picked out a few! What I especially recommend are the scallops and shrimp from the seafood Teppan-yaki! The scallops were plump and very sweet, and each bite was full of rich flavor! The shrimp was also nice and firm, and the savory flavor from the grilling was great!

Among the dishes on the buffet, my favorites were the melon, French toast, tomato-stewed beef tendon, and quiche. Also, I’m not good with shellfish so I didn’t have them, but they had a great seafood selection including seafood BBQ, paella, and seafood curry, so I especially recommend it for seafood lovers.

[Okinawa Prefecture, Kunigami District] Restaurants Where You Can Enjoy Great Seafood

KOURI SHRIMP

KOURI SHRIMP is a garlic shrimp specialty shop near the foot of the big bridge leading onto Kouri-jima (Kouri Island), a small island with a circumference of about 8 km in Nakijin-son, Kunigami-gun, in the northern part of Okinawa Main Island.

The shop is the white building next to the cute food truck. You order from the machine on the first floor and pick up your food on the second floor.

There are terrace seats on the second floor, and table seating is also available on the rooftop. You can also enjoy a meal while taking in Okinawa's beautiful sea and sky up close.

It seems the place can get crowded with large groups on some days, so it's best to visit with extra time to spare.

The only item on the menu is garlic shrimp. The garlicky version is popular, and it apparently goes well with rice.

There is also a set where you can enjoy a combo of beef and seafood. The cute paper container is also well received.

きなこ0129

There are also terrace seats and rooftop seats, giving the place a great open feel. It’s perfect for lunch during a break from sightseeing! I ordered the classic garlic shrimp. The moment it arrived, the savory aroma of garlic gently spread through the air and instantly got my appetite going…! One bite in, and the shrimp were plump and juicy with a really satisfying bite.

I ordered the original shrimp! The shrimp was well seasoned, and it went great with rice. Be careful, because if you peel the shells by hand, the smell lingers for a while afterward! You can enjoy it with a view of the sea, so the location is great too! The staff were very friendly and talked to us a lot(^^)The service was great too.

Kouri-jima Uminchu SeaFood

Kouri-jima Umintyu SeaFood is near Michi-no-Eki Sorahashi by Kouri Beach, which spreads out just across Kouri Ohashi, a bridge about 2km long connecting the northern part of Okinawa Honto (Okinawa Main Island) with the remote island of Kouri-jima (Kouri Island).

One of the spots in the food court at the roadside station is Umintyu Seafood. It serves dishes made with fresh seafood directly managed by the Nakijin-son Gyogyo Kumiai (Nakijin Village Fisheries Cooperative).

The signature dish is the Garlic Shrimp Plate. The shrimp are peeled, which makes them easy to eat, and that is part of its popularity.

The seasoning is rich, and the combo of plump shrimp and rice is excellent. It also comes in a set with French fries.

The Hawaiian seafood dish ahi poke made with tuna from Okinawa is also popular. You can enjoy it with a sauce flavored with ginger and garlic, wasabi soy sauce, or mayonnaise and sauce.

They recommend mixing the rice, tuna, and sauce together before eating. They also serve dishes made with mozuku (Okinawan seaweed) from Okinawa.

食べる楽しみ

I ordered Uminchu Plate’s "Garlic Shrimp Plate" for JPY1,450. The appetite-whetting aroma of garlic and the just-right salty taste of the plump shrimp were a great match. It tasted even better while taking in the feel of the sea! The tropical atmosphere was also nice, and I could buy souvenirs too, so I left full and Manzoku.

The wait was long, but the garlic shrimp I came for was tasty, and the mozuku ramen I ordered while saying, "What is this going to be like?" was amazingly good! The ahi poke and fried fish were also very good for food court fare, so I was glad I went.

[Okinawa Prefecture / Other] Restaurants Where You Can Enjoy Great Seafood

Seafood House Pier 54

"Seafood House Pier 54" is a restaurant located inside Uminchu Wharf, the gateway to a full marine resort that blends the sea and the city, in Chatan, a town on the west coast of central Okinawa Honto (Okinawa Main Island) that was developed on the former site of a U.S. military base.

You can enjoy Okinawan-style California cuisine centered on local ingredients.

The tables are spaced out comfortably, and the interior has a resort-like feel. There are also terrace seats facing the yacht harbor, so you can enjoy a meal while looking out at the sea.

You can also enjoy the presentation of the seafood dishes served with a tropical island feel.

You can order either à la carte or as a course. The main dishes feature meat from Okinawa, while the Appetizers and pasta are said to use plenty of seafood.

They also have craft beer and wines that pair well with seafood dishes.

The lunch course, which came with both fish and meat as mains and even dessert, was very reasonable at about JPY2500. The restaurant had a great location with views of the sea and marina from inside, and the stylish interior made it easy to enjoy a relaxed meal. They also had wine and fresh oysters. I’d like to come back for dinner next time.

Right after you walk in, there are oysters on ice and a fish tank, giving it a real port town feel. Given the location, there are many Western guests as well, and it almost feels like being on the U.S. West Coast. The menu also has lots of California-style dishes. It is fun to choose, and it really gets you excited. The seasoning is quite bold, so this is a great pick when you want a stylish, hearty meal.

Rumble Fish

"Rumble Fish" is a restaurant in The Busena Terrace resort hotel, located on the small Busena Misaki (Busena Cape) that juts out into the East China Sea in Kise, Nago, on the northern side of the central area of Okinawa Main Island.

It is open for dinner only on a seasonal basis from spring to autumn. The restaurant also has an attached mini brewery inside.

Tables are spaced comfortably throughout the large room, so you can enjoy your meal in a relaxed setting. There are also terrace seats facing the sea, and the romantic sunset location is another highlight.

The menu focuses on grilled dishes, mainly seafood. It is recommended to share the large plates with a group and enjoy a variety of flavors.

The restaurant recommends the "Seafood Platter" and "Marseille-style bouillabaisse." Both seem to be large enough for two or more people.

It gets good reviews for letting you enjoy dishes packed with seafood flavor along with freshly made craft beer.

つおかもさち

Since you can see the sunset, visiting around dusk is recommended. Overall, the prices are on the higher side, but the portions of the ingredients are solid. It seems better to come with a larger group so you can order a variety of dishes. I especially liked the bouillabaisse. It was a great meal!

Rumble Fish. They have a wide variety of fish. They also properly stock local fish. I end up ordering the gurukun (double-lined fusilier) Kara-age every time. Oysters. Maguro (tuna) yukhoe. The sautéed budai (parrotfish) was also really good. The carbonara bread was insanely good, and I ate way too much!

One of the shops inside Umikaji Terrace is Bai za Shurimpu. It has counter seats in a sky-blue color scheme and terrace seats facing the sea.

The terrace seats are close to the sea, so you can feel the ocean breeze. You can also watch planes taking off and landing at the airport, which adds to the resort feel.

You can enjoy authentic Hawaiian garlic shrimp here in Okinawa.

The garlic shrimp menu also includes “Spicy Garlic Shrimp,” blended with more than 10 kinds of spices, as well as shrimp with an excellent combination of lemon and butter.

There were also reviews saying that seafood dishes eaten by the sea are outstanding.

octopus166114

In mild seasons like spring and fall, when it is neither too hot nor too cold and the breeze is calm, dining outside while looking out at the sea felt really pleasant. I was not very hungry, so I ordered the set with 5 shrimp and a beer. The shrimp were very tasty, and I liked the seasoning as well.

kk1997

I had the garlic shrimp Rice bowl. The garlic really came through, and the shrimp were delicious. At first glance, it looked like there was not much rice, but by the time I finished, I was surprisingly full (^o^) It was a Manzoku portion! Right in front of me was the sea, and I could also watch planes taking off and landing, so enjoying a good Rice bowl in such a nice setting made for a happy time.
