Ochazuke Omusubi Yokoyama

Ochazuke Omusubi Yokoyama is an onigiri rice ball shop located in Kochi City's entertainment district. It is said to be a place that local customers have loved for many years.

The interior has a warm feel like a set meal restaurant. You can enjoy a quick meal at the counter or table seats. It is also popular as a late night finish to the evening.

The “5-piece Omusubi (rice ball) Set” lets you enjoy a range of flavors. This menu lets you compare classic fillings like salmon, okaka (bonito flakes), and kombu kelp.

Each one is a little bigger than bite size, making them just the right size. You can taste the sweetness of the rice, gently formed into soft omusubi.

With the “Omusubi set meal,” you can choose a soup to go with 5 rice balls.

The “nameko mushroom soup” is said to have a rich, deep taste and a nice flavor that gently warms you from within. People praise it as a highly satisfying set menu.

I sat at the counter and started with a highball and tako-butsu (chunks of octopus sashimi). Then I had the omusubi (rice ball) set meal with nameko-jiru (miso soup with nameko mushrooms). The nameko-jiru was so good it really hit the spot. And the omusubi, too. The five fillings were all tasty. The size was just right.

ぷんこた

The bite-size onigiri (rice ball) set is irresistible, with classic fillings and the light, airy texture of the rice. You can enjoy the recommended sakana (small dish to go with drinks) of the day while sipping Japanese sake, and To finish, have onigiri and aka-dashi (red miso soup) for a wonderfully slow, drifting kind of time.

かれん@よこはま

Each one is small enough to eat in two bites. It is fun that every flavor is different, with okaka (bonito flakes), kombu kelp, ume (pickled plum), salmon, and chirimen jako (dried baby sardines). The miso soup that comes with the set meal also has lots of nice ingredients, and I loved that the staff warmed each serving one by one in a Hot Pot.

The tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) on the sign and piled up right by the entrance, or the tamagoyaki and omusubi (rice ball) set, really stands out. As expected, tamagoyaki is what they’re famous for〜!!It’s exactly the kind of moment that makes you really crave tamagoyaki.

The tamagoyaki (Japanese omelet) is a light dashimaki tamago (rolled omelet with dashi)! It does not feel especially Special, but I like the taste♪ The tenmusu (tempura rice ball) is also seasoned just right and firmly shaped, so it feels very Manzoku.

I asked for the recommended fillings and narrowed it down to two. One was the "tennen sake (wild salmon) shio-koji yaki (salt koji grilled)". The other was the "Shimanto Pork ginger yaki (ginger grilled)". Wow, both had an amazing amount of filling! And with great rice and just-right seasoning, you should definitely give them a try♪
