Popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurants in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture

Kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) Sushi Ikkan Azono no Ten

Kaiten Zushi Sushi Ikkan Azono no Mise is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, about a 10-minute walk from Azono Station on the JR Dosan Line. The sushi made with fresh local fish is well liked.

In addition to the sushi going around on the belt, they also take set menu and A la carte orders, so you can enjoy freshly made nigiri sushi.

You can enjoy sushi made with fresh local fish such as katsuo (bonito), buri (yellowtail), and shimaaji (striped jack). The toppings are so large they cover the shari (sushi rice), and each piece is generously sized. It is said to be very satisfying and filling.

The finishing touches are careful too, with decorative knife work and other details. People say you can enjoy quality like that of a high-end restaurant.

Kochi specialty "katsuo no tataki (seared bonito)" features bonito boldly seared over straw and topped with yakumi (condiments) such as green onion and onion. You can enjoy the combo of the bonito wrapped in the nice toasty aroma of straw and the yakumi.

Fresh bonito is packed with flavor. They say it is best enjoyed simply with salt.

What I liked best was the buri (yellowtail) from Kochi Prefecture. It was sweet, tender, and really delicious. Also the tsubugai (whelk). It was super fresh and excellent. The hotate aburi (seared scallop). It was so good and expensive, but I ordered another one. I can’t believe this is a conveyor belt sushi place. I’m really jealous.

すうどん55

Most importantly, everything I ate was a good pick. The thick cuts of unagi (freshwater eel) were an especially big hit! I usually think of eel at conveyor belt sushi places as being much thinner, but this had great bite and left me feeling very happy. The light kinmedai (golden eye snapper) was also tasty. As someone who lives in the mountains, I can only envy being able to enjoy fresh kinmedai at such a reasonable price.

Tentenmaru Tosa Doro Ten

Tentenmaru Tosa Doro Ten is a popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant in Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture, about a 10-minute walk from Masugata Station on the Tosaden Kotsu tram line. They say you can enjoy everything from standard sushi to local fish here.

In addition to the sushi circulating on the lane, you can also order from a touch panel. The side dishes and desserts are also plentiful.

The toppings are said to be so fresh and large that they nearly cover the shari (sushi rice), making each piece very satisfying. The raw toppings are great, and the aburi toppings also pair well with the special sauce and taste delicious.

You can order from a single piece, which is why people like being able to enjoy many different kinds of sushi.

Tosa-maki is a dish with the toasty aroma of wara-yaki (straw searing) that gently tickles the nose. It is a local dish from Kochi made by wrapping katsuo no tataki (seared bonito) grilled over straw in sushi rice.

The garlic and green onion rolled in with it add a nice accent to the flavor. They round out the rich umami of the bonito, creating a fragrant and full taste.

旅する胃袋!

The toppings are extremely fresh, and they offer a wide variety of local fish such as shimaaji (striped jack) and kanpachi (greater amberjack). The size of the toppings is especially surprising, and each plate feels filling and satisfying. Prices are also reasonable, so this is perfect for anyone who cares about good value. On the other hand, it gets very crowded on weekends and at lunchtime, so the fact that they do not take reservations is a bit unfortunate.

As you would expect from Kochi, they really featured bonito toppings such as an all-bonito lineup, and there was nothing to complain about with the low prices, big cuts, and fresh fish. The side menu item Wakame no Kara-age (deep-fried wakame) has a crisp texture and is a must-try.

芋の水割り焼酎抜き

This time, I had the “Tairyo Maguro-zukushi (big catch tuna assortment).” It’s a nice set that lets you casually enjoy different kinds of tuna all together. Delicious. Needless to say, it goes perfectly with beer. It’s great that you can order this set not only at lunch, but also at the same price at night too◎
