Toyama City: Popular places to enjoy oden (Japanese hot pot dishes) around Shintomicho Station
Oyaji, about a 5-minute walk from the south exit of JR Toyama Station, is an izakaya that has preserved its traditional flavors in Toyama City for more than 70 years since opening in 1952.
They offer a wide range of menu items made with local ingredients, including Homemade oden (Japanese hot pot dish) and daily fish dishes. It is said to have a warm atmosphere.

Many people say the must-order item is oden (Japanese hot pot dish). You can enjoy ingredients unique to Toyama oden, such as fukiya susutake (butterbur and smoked bamboo shoots) and satoimo (taro).
The gentle flavor of the dashi broth is said to make you feel relaxed. It is said to be a dish that lets you feel the care put into the work.

The "genge tempura" is also popular. Genge is a long, slender deep sea fish caught in Toyama Bay. The batter is crisp, and the flesh is light and tasty.
It also pairs perfectly with Japanese sake. Another nice point is the wide selection of Japanese sake, including local sake from Toyama.

For the oden (Japanese hot pot dish), I had grilled tofu, shirataki (konjac noodles), and potatoes. When you think of Hokuriku, you think of oden, right? The Japanese sake just keeps going down easy. Tako (octopus) oden. It was simmered until incredibly tender and was so good.

The sashimi assortment including kombu kelp-jime is a flavor you can really only get in Toyama, and the salt-grilled ayu (sweetfish) is fun because you can compare the taste from different rivers. The dish that stood out most, though, was the simmered bai-gai (whelk), packed tight with rich umami (I ordered another serving). Pair it with local sake, and it makes for a perfect time.

The kobako-gani (female snow crab) oden dish, "kani-men (stuffed crab shell oden)," is well regarded. Kobako-gani means female snow crab. It is packed tightly with meat and is said to be very satisfying to eat.
The rich taste of the crab and the umami of the dashi work together for an outstanding flavor.

I wanted to eat Toyama oden (Toyama-style oden), so I chose this place! While drinking beer, I enjoyed the otoshi of buri daikon radish (yellowtail and daikon radish stew), which was delicious. The oden was also great, with kamaboko (fish cake), bai-gai (whelk), and a 3-item set, and it was the best to relax with it all and even drink Japanese sake.

It was my first time trying Toyama oden (Toyama-style oden), and it was great. I ordered the 10-item assortment, and each piece was a good size, tasty, and Manzoku. The otoshi (small appetizer) was also good.

Every dish was good with no misses. Not only were there many dishes with great presentation, but I was also impressed that the things people often order, like oden (Japanese stew), Kara-age, potato salad, and edamame, were all tasty.

The interior has a nice atmosphere and a stylish feel. There are both counter and table seats, so it seems like a good fit for all kinds of occasions. It is also nice that the otoshi (small appetizer) is sashimi and that they offer nonalcoholic cocktails. Everything tasted great!

You can enjoy salt-seasoned oden made with kombu kelp and flying fish dashi broth. The restaurant offers a wide range of items, from classics to more unusual picks, including thick daikon radish full of flavor and iidako (small octopus) with a great bite.
The "daily oden items," offered in limited quantities (Each) day, are something to look forward to when you visit.

They offer a wide range of menu items across both Japanese and Western styles, which makes the place popular with people who want to enjoy both.
Another feature of this restaurant is that they serve draft Heartland Beer. Many people seem to enjoy pairing beer with both oden (Japanese hot pot dishes) and the creative dishes.
RUI315
The gently seasoned oden (Japanese hot pot dish) with flavorful dashi was absolutely excellent(*´ω`*)A nice touch unique to Toyama Prefecture was the oboro kombu kelp (shaved kombu kelp)♫ The egg was not hard-boiled but nicely soft-boiled, and the yolk melted into the broth, making it even tastier. It was also my first time trying iidako (baby octopus) as an oden ingredient! The texture was fun, and it was delicious.

Toyama City [Around Other Stations] Popular places to enjoy oden (Japanese hot pot with assorted ingredients)
Photograph:tabelog.com
Izakaya Nidaime Maruichi is an izakaya where you can enjoy fresh seafood from Toyama and oden with local sake. You can try classic Toyama oden, topped with tororo kombu kelp and served over items like red kamaboko (fish cake) and susudake (young bamboo).
It is a 2-minute walk from Grand Plaza Mae Station in Sogawa, Toyama City. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere and is said to be an easy place to drop by.

The “Maruichi Meibutsu Oden” adjusts its flavor to match the season. The dashi broth, soaked all the way through to the center, brings out the good taste of each ingredient.
Besides the assortment, you can also order it A la carte. It is said to be a must-try dish.
Photograph:お刺身大好きな人が好き
The “otsukuri (sashimi)” made with fresh fish from Toyama has outstanding freshness, with beautiful color, shine, and clarity. Every bite is said to be good enough to be the star of the meal. Among them, the shiroebi (white shrimp) is especially popular for its melting sweetness.
It also goes perfectly with Japanese sake. They also serve local sake from Toyama and “dashi-wari,” made with oden broth with shochu.
I ordered an oden assortment. I’m a huge daikon radish fan, so the deeply soaked daikon radish was already a perfect 100 points for me. I also added susutake (bamboo shoots), which is apparently a Toyama oden classic. It goes amazingly well with karashi (Japanese mustard).

Located about a 1-minute walk from Sakurabashi Station, Kurobe is an izakaya (Japanese pub) inside Toyama Manten Hotel Manten Plaza in Honcho, Toyama. You can enjoy a wide range of menu items, including oden (Japanese hot pot items) made with aged hatcho miso (dark soybean miso) and kamado-meshi (rice cooked in a traditional stove).
All seats are Sunken kotatsu seating, which guests say makes it easy to relax and spend time comfortably.

The strikingly black-looking “jukusei hatcho miso oden (aged Hatcho miso oden)” is slowly simmered in a Hatcho miso-based broth and is said to be delicious, with a rich, deep flavor.
The daikon radish and beef tendon are said to be melt-in-your-mouth tender and excellent.
Photograph:kanTutsi
Many people also recommended the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). It is grilled to a nice fragrant finish, and the pieces of meat are large and satisfying.
The “negima skewer” and “momo skewer” made with “Daisendori” are said to be great dishes for enjoying plump, juicy chicken.
Chinanagogo
What I especially enjoyed were the crab gratin and the Hatcho miso oden. Besides crab, the gratin also included seasonal ingredients, and its crab flavor gave it a nice sense of the season. The oden was also great, with daikon radish and beef tendon simmered in Hatcho miso. I’ll definitely visit again.

The atmosphere was very nice, and the restaurant was clean too. Since this is Toyama, the sashimi was fresh and delicious, and I was especially impressed by the otoshi (small appetizer), cream cheese with dried fruit in it lol. It was the first time I ever asked for a second serving of otoshi.

One thing that makes Toyama stand out is that some ramen shops also serve oden (Japanese hot pot items).
Just a 1-minute walk from Fujikoshi Station, Kokuryu Honten in Shimizu Motomachi, Toyama City, serves not only ramen but also classic oden items such as daikon radish and grilled tofu.
The interior is bright and spacious, with an atmosphere that makes it easy to stop by.

A popular option is the "oden set," which lets you add three oden items of your choice to your ramen. The broth has a salt based flavor and is said to be gently comforting and really tasty.
The tender daikon radish and yaki-dofu (grilled tofu), which has a pleasantly jiggly texture, are especially well liked.
Photograph:take1125h
The "Ajitama Ramen" with its clear shoyu (soy sauce) broth looks beautiful. The taste is light, but you can still enjoy the rich flavor of the chicken stock. The thin noodles mix well with the soup, and people say the taste keeps you coming back.
The chashu (braised pork) is said to be so tender that it falls apart in your mouth.

・Ajitama ramen (ramen with seasoned egg)
The chicken bone based soup is a classic light chuka soba (Chinese style ramen). The gentle soup coats the thin noodles well, and while it is light, the dashi flavor still comes through clearly. Before I knew it, I could not stop reaching for the spoon with this bowl.
