Le Club

"Le Club" is a bar located a 4-minute walk from Katsuyamacho Station on the Iyotetsu Loop Line. The interior is designed to look like a secret bar in the basement of an old European castle.

It is just right when you want to enjoy a drink in a hideaway-like atmosphere.

At Le Club, signature cocktails made with a variety of ingredients are popular. The menu also includes uniquely named drinks such as the “James Bond Highball.”

The shape of the glasses is unique and stylish too.

The photo shows the signature cocktail, “Ehime Matsuyama Cosmopolitan.” It is based on orange juice and vodka, and is said to have an easy-to-drink taste.

Many reviews said that the presentation, with smoke coming out of bubbles like soap bubbles, was very fun.

I ordered the “Muggle Gin and Tonic,” and my companion ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail mainly made with Pon Juice. As you would expect from a mixology-style bar, they made bubbles on top of the cocktails, and when they popped, smoke spread out. I got curious about the mezcal the person next to us was drinking, so we decided to do a tasting of four recommended tequila and mezcal drinks in half pours. They were all delicious

YacchanAmarone

This was my first time trying a liqueur made with coca leaves. It is said to be a liqueur made in the Netherlands using 36 kinds of Bolivian coca and other herbs. It was refreshing and tasty. The drug components such as cocaine are removed during distillation, so it is not considered an illegal drink.

Yume Maboroshi

Yumemaboroshi, this restaurant has a one of a kind interior inspired by Oda Nobunaga and the Sengoku period. The dark toned counter table has a solid feel and gives the place a calm atmosphere.

The interior is spacious, and in addition to counter seating, it also has sofa seats.

The photo shows the cocktail named after the restaurant, “Mugen (Dreamlike Illusion).” Served in a golden masu (wooden sake box), the cocktail has a luxurious look that really catches the eye.

You can clearly taste the flavors of Japanese sake and white wine, and you can adjust it to your liking with salt and lemon.

They also offer a wide selection of cocktails made with plenty of fruit, as well as many lower alcohol cocktails. It's also recommended for people who are not strong drinkers but still want to enjoy the atmosphere.

"Nobunaga," served in a large sakazuki (sake cup), is also popular.

・Yume Maboroshi
It was served in a masu (wooden sake box), with Japanese sake, vodka, and white wine as the base. It had a solid alcoholic kick, but also a faint sweetness, making it an easy-to-drink and tasty glass.

湘南裕一郎

At the top of the long flight of stairs, a replica suit of armor of Nobunaga (Oda Nobunaga) sits in welcome. In the grand interior with its high ceilings, you can relax into the plush sofas and rest your tired feet after the wooden-floor seating. Raise a glass with the recommended original cocktail, "Nobunaga"! The photogenic oversized sakazuki (ceremonial sake cup) also makes a huge impression!

Dogo Bakushukan

Dogo Bakushukan is a restaurant run by Mizuguchi Shuzo, the only sake brewery in Dogo. It is a 5-minute walk from Dogo Onsen Station, right across from Dogo Onsen Honkan.

Inside, there are also raised tatami seating areas, giving the place a homey atmosphere.

At Dogo Bakushukan, you can enjoy Dogo Beer brewed by the brewery itself. The photo shows a tasting set that lets you try four kinds, including "Botchan Beer".

There are also benches outside the shop, and a menu you can enjoy as Takeout.

They offer a wide range of local gourmet dishes, including "Grilled Young Chicken Skin" and "Uwajima-style Sea Bream Rice." The photo shows "Jako Katsu," made with ground fish paste from jakoten and vegetables.

The fish's savory flavor and the crisp coating make it a great match for beer.

いろはすキウイ

I enjoyed the yuzu craft beer and a limited Japanese sake. The beer had a fresh aroma, with little bitterness, so it was easy to drink. The Japanese sake had a clean taste and a nice finish.

食べトリップ

The beer selection caught my eye, so I tried a tasting flight! The four beers named after places tied to Matsuyama each had their own character, and the differences were clear, which made it fun(^^)I also got hooked on the delicious senzanki (Ehime-style fried chicken) and Imabari yakitori (grilled chicken skewers)(kawa-yaki (grilled chicken skin)) that I ordered as snacks!

OKAIDO BREWERY

OKAIDO BREWERY is a beer bar located in Bocchan Food Hall on the 1st floor of Matsuyama Mitsukoshi, just a 1-minute walk from Okaido Station.

Since it is inside a food court, there are plenty of seats and the spacing is roomy. It seems like an easy place to drop by while shopping.

The shop's craft beer comes in two sizes: regular (324ml) and pint (473ml).

Many of them let you enjoy bright aromas and a clean finish, and they are said to be a perfect match with the mixed nuts snack.

nov.sas

"Iyokan IPA" in a US pint size (473ml). This IPA is known for its strong aroma from plenty of hops and its rich bitterness. The scent of iyokan (Japanese summer orange) pairs well with it, and it really feels like a beer from Setouchi (the Seto Inland Sea). I've been into fruity beers lately, so this is one I'd definitely order in!!

We had Dogo Beer Alto and IYOKAN IPA. Both were really deliciousー!!!I especially liked the IYOKAN IPA, which had a nice citrus aroma and a pleasant bitterness. They have a variety of restaurants, and it was also nice that you can order in small portions. We also had jakoten (fried fish cake) and takoyaki (octopus balls).

DD4D BREWING&CLOTHING STORE is a shop run by DD4D, an apparel brand from Matsuyama City. It is a 4-minute walk from Matsuyamashi Station, and there is a bar space in the back of the apparel shop.

The view of the brewery through the glass looks stylish, doesn't it?

One of the best things about this place is that you can drink fresh beer brewed at the brewery right next door. More than 150 kinds of beer have been released over the past 4 years.

They make new beers almost every week, so this place is recommended for craft beer lovers.

The tap list menu, with beer poured straight from the server, is popular. It is said to stand out for its fresh aroma and smooth finish.

There were also reviews saying it is fun to drink while looking at the clothes inside the shop.

ビールが主役

The tap list on this day also had a lineup that felt very DD4D. Centered on IPA, it ranged from easy-drinking pours to glasses bursting with hop character, and each one had clear definition and a high level of quality. When you compare them side by side, you can really tell how different the expressions are even within the same IPA style, and it is hard not to keep drinking.

nagas251

I had only had many chances to drink DD4D’s beer at beer festivals and the like, but they make a wider range of beers than I expected, and many of them have a clear character of their own. The IPA had just been switched on tap, and it had a proper bitterness that made it really tasty. It really is a good brewery.

・Matsuyama Sling
A sweet cocktail made with a gin base plus Pon Juice and lemon juice. If you sit at the counter overlooking the night view, the atmosphere here is the best

sakamarin

Aphrodite, a Special menu item from the Winter Cocktail Fair. This cocktail is made with vodka, white curaçao, cranberry juice, mixed berries, and pomegranate syrup. It was fruity and just my kind of cocktail as a berry lover, and the grown-up touch with details like the rose flower was lovely too☆

I do not drink much beer, but they also have cider and cocktails. More than anything, the food here is really good, so I recommend it even to people who cannot drink beer. It works well for a first round or a Quick Drink. The French fries in particular are so good they are addictive!

ラッキーストライク34

Many local beers are made with regional specialty products, and flavors like strawberry and melon make it easy to picture the local character, which is helpful for someone from the countryside in Shikoku. It is not just the sweetness that hits when you first take a sip; the finish also clearly lets you taste the beer character

まめまめおやじ

My companion and I had three drinks each from the menu written on the whiteboard. You can pick as much fresh fruit as you like. It’s also nice that they pile it up for each glass. You can also request the strength of the alcohol. They say chestnut and Kahlua are the recommendations here, but everything else is good too.

The assorted smoked appetizers served as the otoshi (small appetizer) were outstanding. The cheese and snacks were both good, but the egg was especially excellent. They had even carefully timed when to soak it in the simmering broth, and the soft-boiled texture was just right.

The photo shows "Ehime no Majime na Kakuteru (Ehime's Honest Cocktail)." It is packed with lots of mikan (mandarins) that are at their best at that time of year, all year round.

The sweet and tangy taste of the mikan makes it easy to drink, and people say it goes down a little too smoothly.

Cocktails made with seasonal fruit are popular. One nice point is that the fruit cocktails can also be made non-alcoholic.

Reviews also said that relaxed Western music such as jazz plays in the background, making it a comfortable place to spend some time.

YacchanAmarone

・Blood Orange Earl Grey Cocktail
The gentle sweetness of the blood orange paired well with the restrained Earl Grey flavor and the vodka, making it an easy to drink cocktail with a nice overall balance. The bill came to 4K JPY for two cocktails. The good quality music playing in the background and the delicious drinks worked wonderfully together, making for a very pleasant time.
