Gyoza Dining TSUDOI, about a 1-minute walk from JR Urawa Station, is a restaurant that offers a wide variety of Homemade gyoza dumplings and (assorted varieties available) wines.
The interior has a stylish, grown-up feel. It is equipped with a large TV, and some groups come to watch sports together.
Photograph:浦和たまこ
At this restaurant, they use brand pork called Kaori Buta (fragrant pork), sourced from a farm in Kazo City, Saitama Prefecture, in their gyoza (dumplings).
The photo shows their Arabiki Niku Gyoza (coarsely ground meat dumplings). The pigs are fed corn, which gives the meat a soft texture and a hint of sweetness.
Photograph:い22
The "karikkari age-gyoza (extra-crispy fried dumplings)" pair well not only with wine but with beer too. They are said to have a great texture.
They also offer sui-gyoza (boiled dumplings) simmered in a house-made soup, as well as dumplings topped with plenty of pakuchi (cilantro), with sesame sauce as the key flavor. They even have the strikingly named "ao-togarashi gyoza (green chili pepper dumplings)."

・Coarsely Ground Meat Gyoza (dumplings) without garlic
They have a satisfying meaty texture, yet the finish is light. Since they do not use garlic, they are easy to enjoy any time of day and for any occasion, which is a nice plus. The skin was pleasantly chewy, the browned surface was fragrant, and these were very well-made gyoza.

So close to Urawa Station, it was a really nice find to have a place where you can enjoy gyoza in such a calm atmosphere with this much care put into them. The prices are reasonable too, and places like this, where you can relax and enjoy good food, are really hard to come by.

Gyoza Senmon Marutora is about a 1-minute walk from JR Kita-Urawa Station and is known for its hanetsuki gyoza (pan-fried dumplings with crispy wings). With its homey atmosphere, it seems to attract businesspeople stopping by on their way home from work.
The interior has a calm wood-toned feel, with seating spread across the first and second floors.

Marutora Gyoza is made with Special ingredients from around Japan, including Joshu Seseragi Pork raised in neighboring Gunma Prefecture next to Saitama Prefecture.
They do not use garlic, and instead bring out the natural umami of the ingredients. It is served in a disk shape, and one order comes with 5 pieces per person.

If you order the 10-piece set for 2 people, the price is a little better than ordering 1 serving twice. You can choose your favorite combination from the wide lineup of gyoza (dumplings).
Options include the ebi gyoza (shrimp dumplings) packed with plenty of shrimp, as well as gyoza with shiso (perilla) or kimchi inside.

Tokachi Komugi no Gyoza to Tenshin Kawa Omiya Ten, about a 3-minute walk from JR Omiya Station, is a gyoza tavern where you can choose from 12 kinds of sauce.
In addition to counter and table seating, it also has terrace seats that you can use even on rainy days.

Starting with their signature “Kawa no Meibutsu Niku Gyoza (Kawa’s famous meat dumplings),” they offer dumplings filled with lamb, Ezo Venison, and seafood ingredients such as shrimp and octopus.
Another highlight is the wide variety of sauces, including a special spicy sauce based on black vinegar, olive oil and rock salt, and even jingisukan (Hokkaido-style grilled lamb) sauce.

They also offer boiled dumplings with different fillings, including meat, lamb, shrimp, and octopus. (Each) comes in a set of 4.
You can also order a course meal with All you can drink, so enjoy the pairing of dumplings and drinks to the fullest. They also serve assorted varieties available xiaolongbao (soup dumplings) made in a bamboo steamer.
• Kawa no Meibutsu Niku Gyoza (house specialty meat dumplings)
The browned side is nicely crisp, and when you pick one up, the skin feels chewy and springy. Take a bite, and the rich flavor of the meat spreads across your mouth, with a nice balance from the filling that goes light on vegetables. The skin itself has a mild sweetness, and I could enjoy the flavor of the wheat.

For the sauce, I chose olive oil and rock salt. Keeping the seasoning simple made the moist texture of the wrapper and the good flavor of the filling come through more clearly. Every dim sum item had a carefully finished wrapper, and the flavor of the wheat really stood out. This is a place I’d recommend on a day when you want to enjoy authentic dim sum in Omiya.

The key is the special chicken soup already worked into the filling, and they carefully grill each one. You can also choose natto gyoza with shiso (perilla leaf) or gyoza made with the premium ingredient fukahire (shark fin).
The boiled gyoza dumplings with their unique puru-mochi (bouncy and chewy) texture are also recommended. They come in sets of 6, with a wide lineup including mala tang-flavored ones, shiso (perilla) leaf, or nira & shrimp.
They also offer fried gyoza dumplings topped with chili sauce or mayonnaise.

The “nikujiru yaki-gyoza (pan-fried dumplings filled with meat juices)” works well not only as something to eat with rice, but also as a snack to go with drinks.
The gyoza wrapper is made with whole wheat flour and wraps the filling at just the right thickness. The pork is coarsely ground to keep its texture, and the dumplings are finished on a high-heat griddle made specially for gyoza.

The "Ultimate Gyoza set meal" naturally puts gyoza (dumplings) front and center, with a lineup designed to bring out the best in the star dish.
Along with rice that pairs well with the gyoza, it comes with wonton soup made with chicken broth, plus items like a Domestic onsen tamago (hot spring egg) and special savory kneaded tarako (cod roe). They have apparently kept refining it from the original set meal.

Hakata Gekijo Urawa Ten, about a 2-minute walk from JR Urawa Station, is a place where you can enjoy a space that recreates a Hakata yatai-mura (food stall village) while still in Saitama.
Festival music plays as background music, and the restaurant has an energetic atmosphere. Some reviews also say that just walking through the noren (traditional shop curtain) makes you feel like you have come to a festival and lifts your spirits!

They grill it on a Teppan-yaki griddle, and it is called “Teppan Gyoza.” One order comes with 6 pieces per person, and you can order from 2 per person.
The filling has a higher ratio of vegetables and is seasoned with a secret sauce, and they hand-wrap them in the shop every day. They taste good on their own, or you can add the house-made sauce and chili oil.

Including the gyoza, there are a lot of snack style menu items overall, so beer, highballs, and other drinks should go down nicely.
It is also a good idea to order motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot), which is famous as a Hakata specialty just like the yatai (food stall) gyoza, or finish with the "Yatai no Tonkotsu Ramen."

Maybe because they are so full of meat juices, the wrappers are on the thicker side. If they were any thinner, they might tear and all that good juice would spill out. At this gyoza (dumplings) specialty restaurant, you will of course find the standard boiled gyoza, fried gyoza, and chicken wing gyoza, along with some more unusual kinds as well.
Options include gyoza topped with plenty of cheese, gyoza finished with cilantro, and even gyoza coated in wafu dashi (Japanese-style soup stock).

• Densetsu no Yume Gyoza (Legendary Dream Gyoza)
The browned wrapper was crisp and fragrant, while the filling inside was juicy with a hearty meaty texture. Rather than being vegetable-forward, these gyoza let you really taste the flavor of the meat, making them satisfyingly filling and a great match with beer. The careful attention to the gyoza really came through, and it made perfect sense that this is their signature dish.

I visited for a drinking party with a few friends. The restaurant had a bright atmosphere. The staff were also kind, which was nice. We ate a lot of gyoza (dumplings) and left feeling full. The food was good, so if I get the chance, I’d like to come back with my family next time.

Known as a Hakata specialty from Kyushu, tetsunabe gyoza (iron pot dumplings) is popular here because you can enjoy it in Saitama. In addition to standard izakaya menu items, they also offer a full lineup of Hakata dishes such as gyu motsu Hot Pot (beef offal hot pot).
The gyoza comes in servings of 5 pieces per person, and you can order from 2 servings. On the Teppan-yaki plate, 10 dumplings are arranged in a circle like flower petals.

As the first otoshi (small appetizer), one case came with fried gyoza (dumplings). It seems the menu had a section for this month’s arranged gyoza.
For the motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot), you can choose from white miso, Kyushu shoyu (Kyushu soy sauce), or umakara miso (savory spicy miso) seasoning. You can add more motsu, vegetables, tofu, and sui-gyoza (boiled dumplings) later.

・Tetsunabe gyoza (iron pot dumplings)
This izakaya is close to the station and lets you enjoy tetsunabe gyoza at a great price. First, take a bite of the tetsunabe gyoza and... gyozastasy! The crispy grilled dumplings with their plump, springy texture are so good!!

Overall, it gave the impression of an izakaya with a lively atmosphere and good food. Every dish was tasty, and the standout items were the udon from the sister restaurant, the burdock root Kara-age, and the sashimi dishes. The staff were also friendly, and their careful explanations left a good impression.

Their house made original tetsu-nabe gyoza (iron pot dumplings) are made bite size so they are easy to eat as a snack.
The seasoning is light and easy to keep eating. They come as a set of 5 per person, and you can order from 2 per person. They cook them on an iron pan after the order comes in.

The restaurant is popular for dishes that make the most of lettuce, and the photo shows their “lettuce maki (lettuce roll).” This dish wraps lettuce in pork belly, and you can enjoy it with either a vinegar based sauce or yurin sauce.
Along with the gyoza, the “tetsunabe cabbage steak” is also recommended, grilled in the same iron pot. It is seasoned with aglio e olio sauce.

About a 1-minute walk from Tokorozawa Station on the Seibu Railway, Rakkan Tokorozawa Ten in Tokorozawa, Saitama, is a ramen shop that pays close attention to its ingredients, and its side menu gyoza are also popular as a signature item.
This worldwide shop has locations not only in Japan but also in the United States.

The restaurant's signature dish is Rakkan Gyoza. Rather than the pan-fried type, these are served in an age-gyoza (deep-fried dumpling) style.
The outside is fried to a nice golden brown, while the filling inside is juicy. This dish is served with a secret sauce on the side. You can choose either a set of 3 or 6 pieces.

On days when you're really hungry, go for a hearty set menu.
Choose either Kohaku, a Shoyu Ramen made with soy sauce aged in wooden barrels, or Shinju, a ramen made with a blend of several kinds of salt, as your main. The set also comes with 3 Rakkan Gyoza dumplings and rice.

・Rakkan Gyoza
The gyoza here is unusually served as age-gyoza (deep-fried dumplings). The crispy skin and juicy filling make it something you should eat over rice. It already has seasoning, so you can enjoy it as is. On the table are soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, and pepper.

Nikujiru Gyoza no Dandadan Wako Ten, about a 3-minute walk from Tobu Railway's Wako-shi Station, is a popular chain where you can enjoy gyoza that gyoza lovers created through repeated trial and error.
With its memorable and impactful name, the restaurant aims to be a place loved by its customers.

The gyoza wrappers are made with fragrant zenryufun (whole wheat flour), ground from the entire wheat kernel including the bran, germ, and endosperm. Finished to just the right thickness, they lock in the rich flavor of the filling.
These gyoza are carefully wrapped by hand one by one rather than by machine. They are then cooked over high heat.
Photograph:アビー1998
They also serve suigyoza (boiled dumplings), with pleasantly springy skins coated in chicken stock soup.
Along with set meals centered on "Nikujiru Gyoza," they also offer izakaya dishes that pair well with alcohol, making this an easy place to visit for either lunch or dinner.

・Juicy dumplings
They were incredibly delicious. Packed with meat juices, they burst open, and when I took a bite, the juices squirted right out lol. The thick dumpling wrappers were pan-fried to a crisp but still had a nice chewy texture, and the balance was very good.

It was a Banquet, a real Banquet. Good gyoza (dumplings) and beer, and having everything all together just made it even better. They also accommodated a large group, and the service was outstanding.
