[Hiroshima City Minami Ward] Popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurants

Sushi Tatsu ekie Ten is a full-fledged kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant just a 2-minute walk from Hiroshima Station. Skilled chefs carefully prepare fresh seafood from the Setouchi (Seto Inland Sea) area and serve it as hand-formed sushi.
The wood-based interior mainly has counter seating, and diners can also enjoy the live feel of watching the sushi being made while they eat.

The “tennen koaji sugata nigiri (whole wild horse mackerel nigiri)” is so fresh that people say it is “not the quality you would expect from conveyor belt sushi,” and it is a dish that lets you enjoy a Setouchi feel.
A popular point is that after eating the nigiri, you can have the bones made into Kara-age and enjoy every last bit of it.
The beautiful "Sea Bream and menegi (sprout green onion) with yuzu salt" is an exquisite piece with a perfect balance of the refined flavor of Sea Bream, the fresh taste of menegi, and the aroma of yuzu salt.
Besides that, the hugely popular "Surprising negitoro (minced tuna with green onion)" is also topped with overflowing negitoro!

This is a convenient in-station restaurant where you can fully enjoy fish from the Setonaikai (Seto Inland Sea). Of course, the sushi rice was also delicious, and they even have both western and eastern styles of soy sauce. There are lots of other appealing shops in the station too! I’d definitely like to visit again.

The recommendation here is aburi battera (seared pressed mackerel sushi)! The regular battera (pressed mackerel sushi) is also delicious, but the aburi battera is even better. It is quite thick and really satisfying to eat. It is available in limited quantities and may sell out, so come early.

[Naka Ward, Hiroshima City] Popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurants
Nonta Sushi Kamiyacho Ten is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant recommended for people who want to enjoy authentic sushi in central Hiroshima.
The wood based interior has a comfortable feel, with a good balance of counter and table seating. Even first time visitors can order easily on the touch panel without any confusion.

What the restaurant serves is sushi made with fresh seasonal jizakana (local fish) from its directly operated Yanai Port Fish Market.
The “aji no namero gunkan” uses horse mackerel caught off the coast of Hiroshima. The fresh horse mackerel is minced together with miso and yakumi (condiments), so you can enjoy its rich umami directly.

You can choose the toppings you like and enjoy 3-piece or 5-piece assortments.
The Hon-maguro (bluefin tuna) 5-piece assortment in the photo includes five kinds, such as lean tuna, chutoro (medium fatty tuna), seared tuna, and gunkan (battleship-style sushi). Since you can enjoy five kinds of tuna nigiri at once, even tuna lovers will leave very Manzoku.

I visited with my family of four. Thanks to our reservation, we were seated right away. There were also about 8 customers waiting for their turn. The sushi toppings were fresh, and while it costs more than your average kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) place, it was delicious!

It’s a kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant, but hardly anything was actually going around, and we could order freshly made sushi from the touch panel. In central Hiroshima, I think this is a good place where you can enjoy tasty sushi with fresh toppings. It was surprisingly not crowded, so it might be a hidden gem.

Sushiro Hiroshima Funairi Ten is a kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant that both locals and first time visitors can casually stop by.
The spacious interior has many box seats, so groups can relax without worrying about the people around them. They also offer counter seats that are easy for solo diners to use.

One reason for its popularity is the wide variety of sushi toppings, and it also has a great selection of aburi-style toppings such as "aburi akaebi (seared red shrimp) with butter soy sauce" and "seared shrimp with basil mayonnaise."
The rich, fatty "salmon" comes with options topped with avocado or onion, as well as seared versions, so you can enjoy comparing the different kinds.

The "Sushiro Kaisen Maki Kasane" is a popular menu item whose toppings change with the seasons.
In one season, it is said to feature more than eight kinds of toppings, including lean tuna, salmon, tamago (Japanese omelet), and avocado. Since the contents change each time you visit, you can always find new flavors no matter when you go.

We had sushi including toro (fatty tuna), Sea Bream, kinki (channel rockfish), anago (conger eel) and takuan (pickled daikon) roll, and kaisen-maki (seafood roll), among others. We also had chawanmushi (savory egg custard) and asari (manila clam) ramen. The anago and takuan roll was especially delicious.

From the sushi menu, they chose items such as shiokoji-zuke maguro (tuna marinated in salt koji). Marinating it in shio koji brings out the tuna’s natural umami, and they enjoyed its melt-in-your-mouth texture. Every plate is reasonably priced, which makes it appealing that you can easily try lots of different flavors.

Muten Kura Sushi Hiroshima Minami Kannon Ten is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant that is committed to having all ingredients free of the "four major additives."
The bright and spacious interior mainly has box seats, and counter seats are also available. When you enter the number of people at the ticket machine, it automatically assigns your seats, so you can be guided smoothly.
Among the many items on the menu, the salmon options come in a wide range of variations, including aburi, onion, and avocado.
The "Onion Salmon" in the photo is a piece of nigiri where the rich, fatty salmon is accented by the crisp texture and sharp bite of onion.

The incredibly fresh ma-iwashi (Japanese sardine) stands out for the sweetness unique to oily fish and its rich, melting texture.
The fresh zing of ginger brings out the savory flavor and keeps the finish light. The slight firmness left in the skin adds a pleasant bite, letting you enjoy the sardine’s natural taste.

Maybe because it was a weekday today, there were open seats inside, so I was able to sit down right away. I enjoyed the sushi and ramen, and both were very good ^_^

I had some great iwashi (sardine). As a way to tell, the ones where you can see the fat on the back are said to be iwashi at their peak and especially tasty. Just like in the photo, this one was nicely fatty and very delicious. Even if it is inexpensive sushi, do not underestimate it. Families should definitely have fun learning how to spot good iwashi too!

The weekday-only lunch, with contents that change by the season, offers an appealing lineup of menu options.
The "Weekday-Only Tokumori (extra-large assortment) Lunch" in the photo is a good value set with 8 pieces of nigiri made with very fresh toppings, plus a choice of akadashi (red miso soup) or chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard). It has just the right volume and is said to be highly satisfying.

The "Sushi Maru Lunch Set" comes with 8 pieces of nigiri sushi, tempura, salad, and a choice of aka-dashi (red miso soup) or chawanmushi (savory egg custard).
It is more filling than it looks and perfect when you want to try a bit of everything. It also comes with self-serve coffee, and is popular for letting you enjoy a relaxed lunchtime.

・Extra Large Lunch Set
It comes with 8 pieces of sushi and aka-dashi (red miso soup). The sushi toppings look glossy and fresh. It was delicious. The aka-dashi uses asari clams and has a nice flavor. Eight pieces were not quite enough for me, so I ordered more and left feeling full. Then, after the meal, I had the complimentary coffee offered during weekday lunch hours.

We had whatever we felt like eating, including kama-toro (fatty tuna collar), o-toro (fatty tuna belly), chu-toro (medium fatty tuna), tai (sea bream), and ebi ten nigiri (shrimp tempura nigiri). The sushi here is conveyor-belt sushi, but the toppings were solid and everything tasted very good.

Hama Zushi Hiroshima Yagi Ten is a popular kaiten-zushi (conveyor belt sushi) restaurant where you can enjoy nigiri sushi.
In addition to more than 90 kinds of sushi, they also offer a full lineup of desserts, side dishes, and drinks. Besides counter seating, there are box seats, so you can enjoy your meal without worrying about the people around you.

Along with classic sushi staples, they also offer a fair that changes every 2–3 weeks, where you can enjoy dishes made with seasonal ingredients at their peak.
There are five kinds of original soy sauce on the table, so you can customize the flavor to your liking.

The side menu item “kamo soba (duck soba)” has an authentic taste and is a popular dish To finish.
The firm soba noodles hold the soup well, with the rich flavor of the duck melted into it, and it is said to be so good that you will finish it in no time. It also comes with several thick slices of duck, making it hard to believe this is soba from a conveyor belt sushi restaurant.

It’s really nice that you can choose less sushi rice. I also thought the topping might be a little thin, but the price is reasonable, so no problem. The ramen and other dishes also seem good, but I ended up eating until I was completely full, so I’ll save that for next time. The chawanmushi (savory egg custard) with mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and mochi (rice cake) was so tasty that I wanted to eat two (^◇^;)

Even though it’s a sushi restaurant, you can eat all kinds of things... it’s like a family restaurant! And it seems the quality is high and everything is delicious. I enjoyed the sushi. I ordered shrimp tempura at the end. It came freshly fried and crispy!
