The oysters were very large, and every dish was really delicious!! The fried oysters and the Hot Pot were excellent! They also had a great selection of drinks, and the pairing of Japanese sake and oysters was excellent too! I also got to enjoy a variety of drinks from Shinshu (Nagano)! I would love to visit again!

This is quite a stylish restaurant with a great atmosphere. I ordered the oyster course, and every dish was very good. I was surprised to find oysters like these in Matsumoto. The Japanese sake and wine I drank were nicely chilled and perfect with the oyster dishes. I’m glad I came.

It features thin noodles with a light, clean texture, and is said to have a rich aroma and go down smoothly. There is also a menu that lets you compare two kinds of soba.

おもち--

This is a handy place where you can try all kinds of local specialties from Matsumoto. The basashi (horse sashimi) was also delicious, but the biggest hit from that day's recommended menu was the hiratake (oyster mushroom) dobin-mushi (teapot steamed soup)! The broth was so good and really comforting. It was also nice that I could choose a half portion for the soba at the end.

It was late at night, but they showed us to a Semi-private room style table, and the atmosphere was nice. We enjoyed a Shinshu chinmi assortment with inago (grasshoppers) and zaza-mushi (aquatic insect larvae), along with dashimaki tamago (Japanese rolled omelet) and zaru soba (chilled buckwheat noodles), paired with Taisekkei (local sake). We got to try Shinshu specialties, the drinks were good, the atmosphere was pleasant, and it turned into a fun Banquet.

I visited to enjoy otaguri (horse offal stew & Shinshu miso) and Japanese sake, which I had been curious about. The winter melon served as the otoshi (table appetizer) was so good that it was Surprising. The otaguri and Japanese sake went very well together. The pickled cucumber was also refreshing and very tasty.

Otona no Teppen

This izakaya offers a wide range of dishes that go perfectly with drinks, including robatayaki (fireside grilling) and seafood dishes. It is a 3-minute walk from Matsumoto Station.

One reason for its popularity is the nice atmosphere. You can choose from open-kitchen counter seats, table seating, or a Private room with Sunken kotatsu seating.

The “Uni (sea urchin) Ikura (salmon roe) Nose Hotate no Kani Miso Yaki,” a slightly more luxurious take on the usual kani miso yaki, is a dish with great visual impact as well.

This place is amazing!!!You can drink Nagano Japanese sake, and every one was so good that I ended up trying every sake on the menu. It was my second stop, so I did not eat much, but the food was also delicious. The staff chatted with me in a friendly way, and I enjoyed my drinks in a great atmosphere.

The recommended hotate (scallop) grilled with kani miso (crab innards paste). The rich kani miso pairs with the mild hotate and tastes great✨The oil-marinated oysters were nicely soaked in flavor too, and they really make the drinks go down easy. I switched to Japanese sake, "Daisekkei," which had a clean and reliably good taste. To go with that, I had the "Fluffy Shrimp Balls." They really were unbelievably fluffy.

The restaurant's top recommendation is sanzoku-yaki (Matsumoto's local fried chicken dish), a Matsumoto specialty. This dish features chicken thigh marinated in a garlic-forward soy sauce tare, then fried until crisp.

It is topped with plenty of fried garlic, so you can enjoy its crunchy texture.

For a snack to go with drinks, the "stamina-yaki (charcoal-grilled chicken and pork offal)" is also a great choice.

The meat is grilled all at once over charcoal at just the right temperature, making it addictively tasty. You can enjoy it with the "tokusei stamina dare (special spicy stamina sauce)," which has a mildly spicy flavor.

We had an assortment of sanzoku-yaki (grilled chicken) and kushiyaki (grilled skewers), along with tori miso cabbage (cabbage with chicken miso) and other small bites, plus draft beer, Mega Ryokucha High, Mega Oolong with shochu, and more. The sanzoku-yaki was juicy, the yakitori was tasty too, and it made for a fun dinner.

A must order here is the factory-fresh "Shinshu Hitokuchi Gyoza (bite-sized dumplings from Shinshu)," enjoyed with the house special miso sauce.

You can choose from two types: "yaki gyoza (pan-fried dumplings)" with a crispy texture, or "yude gyoza (boiled dumplings)" with a smooth texture. Since they are bite-sized, people say you could keep eating them endlessly.

チョコアーティスト

What I had that day was the signature hitokuchi gyoza (bite-size dumplings) series. First was the yaki gyoza (pan-fried dumplings). They were bite-size and easy to keep popping into your mouth, with a crisp and fragrant outside and a juicy filling. They are the kind of thing that makes it hard to stop ordering beer or sour cocktails. The yude gyoza (boiled dumplings) had pleasantly chewy wrappers and went perfectly with the light sauce.

We shared everything as a group, so we ordered a variety of dishes, but as you would expect from a gyoza restaurant, the gyoza were the standout. We ordered both yaki-gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) and yude-gyoza (boiled dumplings), and both were excellent. The other dishes were good and reasonably priced too. The staff were also very pleasant, and it felt like the kind of place I would want to come back to if I lived nearby.

We were served a variety of dishes. The "yaki hassun (grilled assorted platter)." What is served varies depending on the season, but the fish was especially good. The flesh was moist and tender. It was well seasoned, and the grilling was just right. The other small side dishes were also varied, and each one was simple and enjoyable.

This restaurant has a really nice atmosphere. The drink selection was very extensive, with not only wine but also cocktails and more. I was almost Manpuku, so I ordered a snack, and I tried "fusa-tsuki no hoshibudou (stem-on raisins)" for the first time. The grapes were a bit larger than the raisins you usually see. When I ate them, they had a rich sweetness that was very nice.

This time I went with a course menu, and to be honest, this price with All you can drink included is a really good deal. There are also many creative dishes, with a slight twist on standard izakaya menu items, so you can enjoy the meal to the end without getting bored.
