Chofu Kaki Basara

Chofu Kaki basara, a 3-minute walk from Chofu Station, is an izakaya where you can enjoy delicious oyster dishes and Japanese sake.

The interior has a calm atmosphere and feels like a hideaway for adults. There are counter and table seats, so it works well for both solo diners and groups.

You can enjoy oysters prepared in many different ways, including steamed oysters, grilled oysters, and fried oysters.

They offer 15 kinds of sauces, so there is plenty of variety in flavor too. The "Kaki no Oven-yaki (baked oysters) 2-shu (2 varieties)" in the photo is said to be excellent, with the sauces pairing perfectly with the oysters' rich and creamy taste.

The "shuyaku no kaki fry (star oyster fry)" comes with a crisp coating and uses large oysters with a satisfying bite.

Take one bite, and the Fresh Scent of the Ocean and juicy flavor are said to spill out. It is nice that you can order the kaki fry from just 1 piece.

As you would expect from a place with oysters right in the name, they really know how to handle them. They had no off notes, and I enjoyed their rich, creamy flavor. The cooking was spot on too, and it really brought out the oysters' natural umami. They also paired very well with Japanese sake and beer, and I found myself reaching for another glass before I knew it‎' ‐ '‎‎

I was impressed that the sashimi assortment was so fresh, and I even got to try sashimi from fish I do not usually get to eat. I had been wanting to try buri-shabu (yellowtail hotpot) at least once, and just then I found it at this restaurant, so I ordered it. It was really delicious. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice, and before I knew it, 4 hours had passed. I definitely wanted to visit again.

Japanese sake and oysters... sometimes oden (Japanese hot pot dish) BACHIYA Chofu Ten

"Nihonshu to Kaki... Tokidoki Oden BACHIYA Chofu Ten" is an izakaya that is a 2-minute walk from Chofu Station.

The chic and stylish interior has a calm atmosphere. It feels comfortable, and that is part of the appeal because you can relax and enjoy your meal at an easy pace.

Oden (Japanese simmered hotpot ingredients), one of Japan’s classic simmered dishes, was added to the regular menu after requests from customers who wanted to enjoy it year-round.

They say every ingredient is thoroughly infused with dashi broth, giving it a refined taste. You can order it either A la carte or as an assortment, depending on the size of your group.

The "kaki no hoiru-yaki (foil grilled oysters)" is a popular menu item that lets you choose from two seasonings: soy sauce butter or miso butter.

The oysters are cooked to just the right doneness, giving them a plump, springy texture, and their creamy umami goes perfectly with the sauce, making them hard to stop eating.

All of the sashimi was delicious, and I especially thought the octopus was great. For Japanese sake, I ordered Tengumai from Ishikawa. It was served at room temperature, but the flavor of the Japanese sake came through clearly and paired well with the sashimi.

The green curry has dashi (Japanese soup stock) mixed in, giving it a fresh taste with rich depth that brings out the aroma of the soba noodles. It may be an unexpected combination, but it is said to be a memorable dish.

みんみんまるまるまる

I booked a course. Since there were 2 of us, we were seated at the counter. It started with Appetizers, followed by robatayaki (fireside grill cooking). The course included shellfish, beef, nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), kuruma ebi (Japanese tiger prawn) (live dancing style), and more, and I was very satisfied with the luxurious lineup. My favorite in particular was... the corn (lol). They told us that even the silk was edible, and the silk... was actually really good!

The fish is delicious! The moment you step inside, the smell gets your appetite going! Since it has a Private room, we could enjoy our get-together without worrying about the people around us. Not just the fish, but the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) is also very good and recommended. There is a wide selection of drinks, and we also enjoyed a blend of barley and sweet potato shochu (distilled spirit), which we do not usually drink.

As for the dishes, the okonomi-yaki (savory Japanese pancake) was thick and soft, with a strong cabbage flavor, and the sauce was sweet and salty. It was tasty, filling, and a Manzoku dish. Keihan is a local dish from Amami Oshima. Though it uses the same characters as torimeshi, which refers to seasoned rice or a Rice bowl, keihan is closer to ochazuke-style rice with broth poured over it. Iki Takunaru Sakaba Hamachan Chofu Ten is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located a 2-minute walk from Chofu Station.

The lively interior is comfortable and said to be perfect when you want to take a short break. There are many seating options, including counter seats, sofa seats, and zashiki (tatami seating), so it is easy to use for groups of different sizes.

"Hotaruika (firefly squid) overnight-dried squid" has a richer taste than surumeika (Japanese flying squid), making it a great snack to go with drinks.

If you add ichimi (ground chili pepper) or soy sauce to the mayonnaise served on the side, it brings out even more umami and makes it hard to stop eating.

Another popular snack here is the "Broccoli no Peperoncino (broccoli peperoncino)".

The spicy broccoli with a good hit of garlic is served to eat together with the baguette on the side. The rich, savory sauce is said to be so good that you will want to mop up every last drop with the baguette.

There were all kinds of items on the menu, but the recommended sashimi assortment caught my eye, so I ordered it. The sashimi assortment was beautifully presented, which really lifted my spirits. It was delicious.

The fugu (pufferfish) Kara-age was tender and nicely flaky, and it really reminded me how good it is. The shiba-ebi (Japanese glass shrimp) Kara-age had a crisp shell and just the right salty kick for a snack that goes great with drinks.

Massan of Japanese sake

"Nihonshu no Massan" is an izakaya where you can fully enjoy pairings of food and Japanese sake.

The interior, which combines exposed concrete and wood, has a stylish feel. Although it is compact, the seating is well spaced, so you can relax and enjoy your time there.

The "hina-dori no hanshin-age (deep-fried half young chicken)" is a popular menu item that takes more than a day to prepare.

The carefully slow-fried half chicken is said to have crisp, fragrant skin and plump, juicy meat. The original spice blend brings out the chicken’s rich flavor, making it something you will keep craving.

The seafood personally selected by the owner can be enjoyed in many different preparations, including sashimi, simmered dishes, and grilled items.

They offer today's sashimi such as isaki (grunt), shimaaji (striped jack), and kurodai (black sea bream), and you can enjoy it either A la carte or as an assortment. Depending on the day's catch, you can also taste seasonal fish at their best.

What impressed me most was the half fried young chicken! It was absolutely delicious. The skin was crisp, the meat was tender, and the original spice blend was somewhat close to KFC. The owner, Massan, said this was the flavor he arrived at after a lot of trial and error. Most of the other a la carte dishes are tasty too.

The half fried young chicken was so juicy and tasty, it made me wonder where they get it from?! I learned that potato salad tastes great wrapped in nori (seaweed). It's nice that Kokuryo has spots like this here and there, izakaya that really focus on Japanese sake.
