Hoderi is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located about a 5-minute walk from the East Exit of JR Takasaki Station. Inside, the chic space has a grown-up feel, with plenty of natural wood and stone materials used throughout.

The standard menu item is katsuo no wara-yaki (bonito seared over rice straw), made by boldly grilling Kochi bonito over rice straw. The toasty aroma of the straw makes this dish stand out.
They also recommend a la carte dishes such as kushiyaki (grilled skewers) and Joshu gyu (Joshu beef) from Gunma. The lineup also includes Special local sake, wine, and highballs.
The "gyu motsu-nabe (beef offal Hot Pot)" in the photo is a popular choice for group dinners. This dish slowly simmers fresh beef offal from Gunma Prefecture and vegetables in a special chicken-bone broth.
It is said to have a pleasantly springy texture, with the natural sweetness of the vegetables coming through.

They use the lighting really well, and both the interior and exterior had a calm feel that made it a lovely place to enjoy a quiet drink. The inside was spotless and full of a clean feel. Their signature katsuo no tataki (seared bonito) was delicious! I went because I wanted to eat yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), and every skewer was tasty! I had no idea Takasaki had such a wonderful place. I really appreciated finding it, and I’d definitely love to come back.

It was a stylish restaurant with a calm, grown-up feel, and it was very comfortable. Starting with the first otoshi (small appetizer) salad, everything was really good, and the ume cucumber, french fries, Kara-age octopus, kushiyaki (grilled skewers), lightly pickled turnip and cucumber, and Ume Suisho were all excellent!I’d love to visit again.

You can fully enjoy the bounty of Gunma. The dishes made with Joshu gyu (Joshu beef) and Ehara Herb Buta (Ehara herb pork) are popular.
The "Joshu gyu Hamburger Steak" is homemade and made with 100% Joshu gyu. They say the juices flow out the moment you cut into it with chopsticks.

The lineup includes local Gunma sake, with Japanese sake selected by the owner from around Japan as well, including bottles that are unique to the season.
"Musubito" is a gentle, well-balanced cup with rounded umami and a pleasant, moderate acidity. You can enjoy it either chilled or warmed.

Every dish is really delicious. One nice point is that you can drink Heartland beer here. The menu leans toward washoku (Japanese cuisine). I’ve reached the age where washoku really hits the spot, so every dish works for me. The pork steak in the photo comes on piping hot Teppan-yaki plate and is highly recommended. The staff also have a nice vibe.

This time, they showed us to a Private room, and it was so comfortable that we ended up staying longer than expected. This is a baniku ryori izakaya (horse meat cuisine pub) located inside a restaurant building near the rotary in front of Takasaki Station. It was lively on a weekend night. I love horse meat, so I tried the basashi (horse sashimi), tsukune (meatballs), and a bit of everything else. I especially liked the potato salad with horse meat that you mix yourself to finish at the table.

The bonito, basashi (horse sashimi), Shimonita negi (Shimonita green onion) tempura, nagaimo (Japanese yam) tamari-zuke (soy sauce pickles), and To finish, the udon were all delicious. Hakata Taishu Sakaba Sacchan Takasaki Eki Higashiguchi Ten is an izakaya located a 4-minute walk from JR Takasaki Station. The interior is lively, with menus covering the walls in a bustling space.

You can enjoy teppan Yakiniku, known as a soul food of Hakata (a district in Fukuoka). This cooking style is widely loved across western Japan, and one of its hallmarks is the aroma rising from the iron plate.
The "Stamina Teppan Yakiniku" is also a popular set meal option. It is also said to be a dish with many repeat customers as a snack to go with drinks.
Photograph:テッシー2
To finish a night of drinks, the recommended choice is Hakata ramen that recreates the authentic taste of Hakata.
The "Hakata Deluxe Ramen (with all toppings)" comes with plenty of large chashu (braised pork) and chopped green onions. The soup has no off notes, and it is said to have an addictive taste.
パンダ69号
Among everything, the oden (Japanese stew) was the best. The Kara-age was tender and easy to eat. When I paired the stamina Teppan-yaki Yakiniku with the spicy miso mixed into the oil, I could not stop drinking beer wwwI added ramen on the side. It was tonkotsu (pork bone broth), but light and clean, making it perfect as a bowl of ramen after drinks.

I was impressed by the service offering the first drink free forever if you subscribe to their YouTube channel.

In addition to Dassai and Moriizo, they offer a wide lineup including shochu, whisky, and umeshu (plum wine). They also have limited local sake labels.
Their "house-made Haruna no Umeshu" is also popular, enjoyed on the rocks, with water, or with shochu and soda.

The room was a zashiki (tatami room) on the second floor. I was Surprising to find that the room had its own toilet. I think it would have been even better if it had horigotatsu (sunken floor seating). The food was served to each person individually rather than on large shared plates. Each dish had its own touch, and for an izakaya in Takasaki, it felt quite stylish. I enjoyed the meal.

I visited with a reservation for the 2-hour All you can drink course. The food came without much of a wait, and I was able to really enjoy the drinks. The recommendations are slowly simmered nikudofu (meat and tofu stew) and lemon sour.
The "nikudofu" comes in two types: black with a soy sauce base, and white made with katsuo-dashi (bonito stock). The meat is melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the tofu is full of flavor, making it a dish that goes well with both drinks and rice.

They have a wide variety of lemon sours, so you can choose one to suit your taste.
Along with the standard options, they offer a broad lineup ranging from house-marinated types to icy mizore sours. The "Jikasei Tsukekomi Lemon Sour (house-marinated lemon sour)" is said to have a clean sweetness and slight bitterness, and it pairs well with strongly seasoned dishes.
I arrived 10 minutes before my reservation, but they seated me right away, and even though I was drinking alone, they gave me a table for four! You order from your own smartphone by scanning a QR code, and the tofu was good. The curry potato salad was excellent too☆The smoking and non-smoking areas are clearly separated, so even people who do not smoke can enjoy their meal comfortably.

Next came an assortment of basashi (horse sashimi). Basashi really is so good, isn't it? Then we had the Joshu-gyu steak. It was cooked just right, the meat quality was great, and it was excellent.

They offer local dishes and meat dishes from (Each) prefecture in Kyushu.
A top recommendation is Kumamoto's local dish karashi renkon (lotus root stuffed with mustard miso). It is known for the aroma of Japanese mustard and the crisp texture of lotus root. Its sharp heat also goes well with alcohol.
If you are not sure what to order, the course meal that lets you choose your main dish is a popular option.
For the main, you can choose from "steamed chicken and seasonal vegetables in a seiro (bamboo steamer)," "Hakata motsu-nabe (offal Hot Pot) (salt, soy sauce, or miso)," or "chicken steak." It also comes with All you can drink, which is a nice touch for a relaxed meal.

This time, I chose a course meal, but they also have a wide selection of à la carte dishes. I took a quick look at the menu and saw sengyo (fresh fish) goma-saba style, which really caught my attention! It looked so good…Being right near the station was also nice, since I could enjoy it right up until the last minute before my train was due to leave. I’d love to come back again and take my time.

Nakatsu Kara-age used large pieces of chicken and was very tasty!!Karashi renkon (lotus root with mustard) is certainly unusual! The karashi renkon was not that spicy♪Since it is right in front of the station, isn’t this a good place for a Quick Drink with a few people!?

MEAT LABO ENISHI Takasaki Ekimae Ten is an izakaya (Japanese-style pub) in a great location, about a 1-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Takasaki Station.
The softly lit interior has table seating, sofa seating, and fully private rooms. It works well for anything from a quick stop to a relaxed meal.

They serve creative Japanese style dishes made with fresh seafood and jidori (local free range chicken).
For the "House Made Roast Beef," "Special Wagyu Steak," and "Gyuzabuton (chuck flap) Tataki," they use different cooking methods for each cut. The lineup is varied and pairs well with drinks.

You can enjoy Special Japanese sake and beer selected from all over Japan with the seasons.
The craft beer “Susanoo IPA” is said to have a rich, fragrant taste. They also offer All you can drink courses with beer, sours, fruit liqueurs, and more.

When I walked in, I was the first one there, but after 17:00 Banquet groups kept pouring in one after another, and it turned into a super lively izakaya (Japanese pub) while it was still light out. The staff's smiling service was really comforting. It’s close to the station, and very convenient too〜!!

Dewazakura (sake brand) was mellow, smooth on the palate, and very good. Next, I ordered cold sake (Kagetora (sake brand), 1 go). Kagetora was dry, clean, and very good. The grilled skewers included Heart, gizzard, kawa (chicken skin), and tsukune (chicken meatball), and they were tender and tasty.

"Zenseki Kanzen Koshitsu Tori to Kaisen Izakaya Kyushu Toriuo Takasaki Ten" is an izakaya located about a 4-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Takasaki Station.
With a fully private room for every seat and Sunken kotatsu seating, it is recommended for families with children and drinking parties with friends.

They serve brand-name chicken dishes such as Satsuma Gokkei Daimaou (premium Satsuma chicken) and Akagi-dori (Akagi chicken).
The top recommendation is the "Gunma-ken Akagi-dori no Shioyaki ~Yuzu Kosho Soe~." It is said to be a juicy dish that releases plenty of flavorful meat juices with every bite.
Photograph:テッシー2
The On-the-Day order is also OK, and the "Premium All you can drink 2 hours" is also popular.
In addition to draft beer, Kurokirishima, and highballs, the All you can drink menu also includes local sake from Gunma Prefecture such as Iwao Honjozo Karakuchi and Ohsakazuki Hojun Karakuchi. This is recommended for people who want to order à la carte and eat whatever they like.

It was my first social gathering in Takasaki in a while. The draft beer in the All you can drink plan that we ordered first was served in a thin glass and poured well, which was really nice. We had a great time. It was a great meal.

The dishes were all served in about 20 minutes. The otoshi (small appetizer) was chikuzen-ni (simmered chicken and vegetables), and it was nicely seasoned and tasty. The Kara-age was also good. The nikumaki onigiri (meat-wrapped rice ball) was filling and Manzoku. Since all rooms are Private room, you can relax and take your time. It was a great meal.

Robata to Oden Koronagirai Takasaki Ten is an izakaya located about a 4-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Takasaki Station. The restaurant is known for its otoshi (table charge appetizer) oden, which you can enjoy as All you can eat.
There is an oden counter in the center of the restaurant, giving the place a lively atmosphere at all times. The spacious interior also has table seating and Private rooms.
Photograph:ぐるけー
The otoshi (small appetizer) "oden" is available as All you can eat for an extra charge. There is a wide variety, from standard items like daikon radish, konnyaku (yam cake), and chikuwa (tube-shaped fish cake) to limited-quantity options like octopus legs.
The piping hot oden is said to go well with both rice and alcohol.
Photograph:どすこいクリゲン
A top pick among the a la carte dishes is the “ginzake (coho salmon) with ikura (salmon roe) and grated daikon radish topping.” The rich salmon is grilled until nicely tender, with just the right amount of salt.
The grated daikon radish and ikura add a nice accent, making it perfect with a drink.
cani0421
I was Surprising at the variety of oden ✨️Other reviews mentioned it too, but I was amazed by the shumai dumpling oden. The daikon radish and white hanpen (fish cake) were especially good, so I ended up ordering four of each!!This time I chose a course, so it was nice that I could enjoy not only oden, but also Caesar salad and fries ☺️

This restaurant's menu features robatayaki (charcoal hearth grilling) made with fresh seafood and local seasonal ingredients, plus All you can eat oden (Japanese hot pot dishes)! The robatayaki is slowly grilled over charcoal, which brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients, and the savory aroma really whets your appetite. The silver salmon and scallops in particular were especially good!

Toyomaru Suisan Takasaki Eki Nishiguchi Ten is a seafood izakaya (Japanese pub) about a 3-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Takasaki Station, and the interior is an open space lined with table seating.
A tabletop grill is set up at (Each) seat, so you can enjoy hamayaki (seaside-style grilled seafood). The casual atmosphere is said to make it easy to drop in, even for first time visitors.
Photograph:テッシー2
At the tabletop grill, you can enjoy "kaisen hamayaki (seaside-style grilled seafood)" and "Yakiniku." For seafood, they boldly serve shell-on items like oysters, scallops, and live sazae (turban shell).
The photo shows "shima hokke yaki (grilled Arabesque greenling)." One of the best parts is grilling it to your preferred doneness and enjoying it that way.
Photograph:テッシー2
"Zero-Minute Sour" lets you pour your own plain sour from the server installed at your table.
Another reason it is popular is that you can choose your favorite from 10 kinds of syrup, such as "Natsukashi no Melon (nostalgic melon)," "Pink Grapefruit," and "Shitamachi Shiso Ume (downtown shiso plum)."
ayaya855
The dishes included tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), grilled pork, beef, and chicken, ozukuri (sashimi assortment), shishamo (smelt), fried chijimi (Korean-style pancake) and French fries, and grilled onigiri (rice balls). Since there was a grill at the table, it was fun to cook things little by little, and to reheat the cooled fries and chijimi until they were crispy and piping hot again. Partway through, we ordered the All you can drink wine, and it was served in a 250mm bottle, so the drinks were quite good for the price.

OTARUNOHIKARI
Takasaki actually has many places that stay open until around 24:00, and Toyomaru Suisan is one of them. They offer a wide range of dishes including grilled fish, fresh seafood, Yakiniku, Kara-age, and more, so you will not get bored. The shima-hokke (Atka mackerel) is great with white rice cooked in a Clay Pot. The All you can drink option is affordable, so the highballs go down easy.

Mekiki no Ginji Takasaki Nishiguchi Ekimae Ten is a seafood izakaya (Japanese pub) about a 2-minute walk from the West Exit of JR Takasaki Station. The walls are decorated with taisyo-ki (large fishing flags), giving the place a bright and lively atmosphere.
The restaurant is fully equipped with zashiki (tatami seating), Sunken kotatsu seating, table seating, and Private room options. The walls between seats are high, so you do not have to worry much about the neighboring tables.
You can fully enjoy fresh seafood here. The hamayaki (seaside-style tabletop grill) cooked right at the table is popular, especially the grilled shellfish and red shrimp.
The signature dish is the "Gokai Sashimi Nanasu assortment" in the photo. It comes loaded with seasonal sashimi and is said to pair perfectly with drinks.
Photograph:Toru_310
The "aburi shime saba sashi (seared vinegared mackerel sashimi)" with its skin lightly seared until fragrant is also popular. The rich flesh is moist, and the moderate acidity from the vinegar curing leaves a clean finish.
With each bite, the umami slowly spreads, and the fragrant notes from the searing pair perfectly with the natural richness of the mackerel.
TAKATO-play
Inside, there are table seats and ozashiki (tatami seating). Orders are placed using a touch panel. Some dishes need to be grilled on the stove, so whether you think this system is good or not comes down to personal preference. I’m the type who prefers dishes to be brought out ready to eat ^^;The seafood Rice bowl was pretty good! It felt like there was more rice than in Tokyo!

If you're talking seafood, this is the place. It's tasty, delicious, and fresh. This is one of the places in my regular rotation. It's great that you can grill fish and hotate-gai (scallops) right at the table.
