Poruta Nuova

Porta Nuova, about a 5-minute walk from Honmachi Station on the Osaka Metro Midosuji Line, is well known for its wide range of traditional Italian dishes as well as its tasty pizzas baked in a wood fired oven.

At the table seats, you can enjoy your meal while looking out over the peaceful scenery of Utsubo Koen (Utsubo Park). There are also counter seats, so it is easy to stop by even on your own.

The popular pizzas are made with hand-kneaded dough using extra-strong flour from Italy, then baked in an authentic new oven crafted by an Italian oven artisan.

The toppings use carefully selected ingredients, including buffalo mozzarella and a house-made tomato sauce slowly simmered in a large pot.

"Agenasu (fried eggplant) and Kunsei Mottsuarela (smoked mozzarella) with Bolognese Sauce" is a pizza topped with large chunks of grilled eggplant.

The rich mozzarella cheese and the flavor-packed Bolognese sauce make for an addictive combination.

• Quattro Formaggi
It helps that they provide cutlery here, with a spoon, fork, and even a knife. When I eat pizza, I do not want to hold it in my hands, and I like to cut each slice into three pieces with a knife and fork before eating it. I can do that here, which is great. Also, they serve the honey on the side, so that is a big plus.
