A wide selection of seasonal fresh seafood delivered straight from the market and Homemade signature dishes awaits.
The house specialties include nodoguro (blackthroat seaperch), live kuruma ebi (Japanese tiger prawn) served dancing, jidori (local chicken) baked in a salt crust, and tori paitan oden (chicken white broth oden). They also say many regulars come for dishes you can only enjoy here.

The "kisetsu no obanzai (seasonal Kyoto-style small plates)" is also well regarded. Five kinds are served, with the selection changing by season and what is available that day, and reviewers say you can feel the careful prep in every item, from simmered dishes to fried ones.
Some reviews also said they were happy to see it served in a small basket, which gives it a cute look.

Just a few minutes on foot from Shimokitazawa Station, tucked away past the lively shopping street, stands Tori to Sakana to Sumibiyaki Akari. As the name suggests, this is a grown-up hideaway where they carefully bring out the rich flavors of chicken and fish over charcoal. Inside, the space is wrapped in the calm warmth of wood, and the savory aroma of charcoal drifts over the counter.

I visited again because I was very Manzoku last time♪ I usually eat sashimi with wasabi soy sauce or, depending on the fish, ginger soy sauce, but this restaurant serves sashimi with seasoning that matches each type, and I really like that. The oden (Japanese stew) is also delicious, and the seasonal obanzai (Kyoto-style side dishes) are the best❣️Anyway, everything is delicious(^^) This time, I also enjoyed the craft beer♪

Shimokita Rokkaku is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located under the elevated tracks of the Keio Inokashira Line in Shimokita Mikan Mikan, Shimokita A Block 205.
With Japan craft as its concept, everything from the counter and lighting to the furniture was made by skilled Japanese artisans. The space blends a modern feel with Japanese elements.
At this izakaya where you can take in the charm of Japan with all five senses, you can casually enjoy shochu × Japanese sake × creative Japanese cuisine.
The specialty is shabu-shabu made with Tokushima-produced Awa Biton (Awa Beautiful Pork), known for the sweet flavor of its melting fat. It is said to be a healthy Hot Pot that also lets you enjoy plenty of vegetables.
Photograph:afb8a9
The drinks are popular too, including shochu, Japanese sake, and drinks made with house-made syrups. They stock a selection of shochu and Japanese sake labels that are known by those in the know.
A good pick for shochu beginners is the “Fruit Shochu-zuke (fruit-infused shochu).” Umeshu (plum liqueur), yuzu-shu (yuzu liqueur), and kiwi-shu (kiwi liqueur) are popular, and their colorful look adds to the appeal.
Every dish makes good use of seasonal ingredients and is prepared with care, with gentle seasoning that lets the natural flavors of the ingredients come through. Sashimi and nimono (simmered dishes) also pair well with drinks, making this a great place to slowly enjoy Japanese sake and shochu. The interior is small and warm, and it is the kind of grown-up spot that feels comfortable whether you visit alone or in a small group, making you want to come back again.

I finally made it to Shimokita Rokkaku, a place I had been curious about for a long time. I went in at 17:00, but it quickly filled up and had a lively atmosphere. The food included many seasonal dishes, and the fried pear and cheese, as well as the pear and fig cream cheese, were all very good. I also had about three kinds of Japanese sake, and they had hiyaoroshi (autumn-aged sake) as well, which was very good.

This restaurant specializes in mackerel dishes and offers a wide range of creative menu items made with fresh mackerel delivered from Toyosu Shijo (Toyosu Market).
The signature "SABA Kushi" is a rare dish that lets you enjoy mackerel like yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). They grill the fish until nicely fragrant, and it is best enjoyed with grated daikon radish for a light, refreshing taste.
Photograph:ふわもち0814
The popular "mackerel set meal" comes with side dishes, pickles, miso soup, and rice.
Besides grilled mackerel, one nice thing is that you can choose from 10 kinds of set meals, including the slightly unusual saba katsu (fried mackerel cutlet). Another great point is that you can enjoy set meals even at night.
Shimokita SABA Shokudo Sasuke Sakaba is an izakaya pub known for fresh seafood dishes and a cozy feel. A hidden izakaya with great mackerel dishes. In any case, the menu is packed with mackerel, mackerel, mackerel, with so many options that you could never try them all in one visit. Nakanaka, you do not often find a place that makes mackerel this much of a main focus. For me, someone who likes fish more than meat, it was a fresh and very welcome lineup ◎

They source vegetables from contracted farmers, mainly in Kyoto, the owner’s hometown, and prepare them with great care.
They use a wide range of cooking methods, from simmering them slowly in a large pot and briefly boiling them to wrapping them in meat or coating and frying them. Each dish brings out the natural qualities of the ingredients.
Photograph:みーーゆ0613
Drinks that bring out the natural flavors of the ingredients are also well regarded.
From the Domestic island lemon sour and tea with shochu made by a tea shop in Kyoto to fruit liqueurs made with carefully selected ingredients, each one has a clean, direct flavor. The "Shun no Fruit Sparkling" is a bright, elegant drink made generously with shine muscat grapes and strawberries.
The other day, I visited Kushiyaki to Niyasai Shimokitazawa no Zeroya. The interior has a calm Japanese modern feel, and the niyasai (simmered vegetables) made with Kyoto vegetables are slowly cooked in a large pot and have a gentle flavor. The kushiyaki (grilled skewers), including chicken neck and tsukune (seasoned chicken meatballs), bring out the natural taste of the ingredients with both salt and tare sauce, and the vegetable wrapped skewers are also healthy and easy to eat.

Yasai Ginga-dan is an izakaya located about a 3-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Keio Inokashira Line, on the first basement floor of a building near a theater, and some reviews say its appeal lies in its underground vibe away from the bustle in front of the station.

Every seasonal menu item looked so tempting, and the regular menu was appealing too. Thin ice floated in the beer, and it was nicely chilled. Amid the bustle of Shimokitazawa, this is a calm space for adults. The menu has lots of options, which makes it fun. It is hard to choose what to order. We had hamo (pike conger) with plum sauce, anago shirayaki (lightly grilled conger eel), Awajishima (Awaji Island) onions with jaco (small dried sardines), asparagus, shiroebi (white shrimp) sashimi, and lightly seared hokkigai (surf clam). It is a good deal because you can enjoy a variety of things little by little. Every dish was a hit! The Japanese sake goes down very nicely too.

It seems to be an easy place to use, as plenty of people came in even on a weekday! When I said it was my first visit, they carefully explained the menu, which left a good impression. I thought it might be aimed at a younger crowd, but the food had a full-on bistro feel and the overall Manzoku was high. I often use this place for the After-Party of regular drinking gatherings held in Shimokitazawa. I usually stay for about 45 minutes with 1 bottle of wine and 3 kinds of snacks. It may look a little hard to enter at first glance, but the atmosphere inside is not that stiff. Every time, the staff leave an impression of being cheerful, energetic, and kind. Next time, I’d like to visit for the main gathering. It was a great meal.

Kyushu Ryori to Umai Sake Dontaku Shimokitazawa Ten is a Kyushu cuisine izakaya located about a 3-minute walk from the East Exit of Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line, and it is said to offer a charming space that preserves the character of a historic kominka (traditional Japanese house) with 100 years of history.
There are various types of seating to match the occasion, including a U-shaped counter, Sunken kotatsu seating, raised Private rooms, and engawa (veranda-style) seats.

Carrying on the flavors of a restaurant in Hakata that has been going for 40 years, they still carefully preserve that know-how while sourcing ingredients from around Kyushu through their own channels. One of the big draws is that you can casually enjoy authentic flavors created through careful preparation.
Popular menu items include "goma saba (mackerel with sesame sauce) made with a branded mackerel from Nagasaki" and "basashi (horse sashimi) from Kumamoto."
Photograph:ぽんさや☺︎
The “obanzai assortment” is also popular, letting you enjoy a little bit of each dish as a snack with drinks.
One standout dish representing Kyushu is karashi renkon (lotus root with mustard), a local specialty from Kumamoto. Its sharp, spicy kick that clears the nose is said to be addictive, and it makes the drinks go down easy.

Among Kyushu cuisine, the specialty here is dishes made with Iki-gyu (Iki beef), which you can taste only here in Tokyo.

Anyway… really…! Every dish was amazingly good, and with each bite I couldn’t help saying, “So good...” out loud. The Iki gyu (Iki beef) nikujaga (meat and potato stew) in particular was incredible. I had All you can eat pan-fried gyoza at Shimokita Sakaba Young Chacha. The place was lively and almost full, so it’s probably safer to make a reservation before you go! All the food was delicious, and there were so many kinds of gyoza that it was hard to choose. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary izakaya (Japanese pub), but every dish was better than expected. The sashimi was fresh, and the presentation was beautiful. Yasai-maki Kushi Shimokita Hall is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located just steps from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line. The main floor features counter seats surrounding the grill, and they are said to be popular because you can also enjoy chatting with the grill chef.
If you want to relax and enjoy a meal while talking with friends, the table seats are also recommended.

Hakata's specialty, yasai-maki-gushi (vegetable wrapped skewers), is finished with authentic local preparation and grilling.
The crisp vegetables and juicy meat are a great match. Each skewer is seasoned to suit the ingredients and finished with a secret sauce, making every one a richly flavorful bite.

The drinks are developed around the concept of cute looks and a wow factor.
The photo shows the “Goro Toro Hakuto Jasumin (Chunky Melty White Peach Jasmine)” and “Puri Tatsu Mikan Sawa (Bouncy Mikan Sour).” Packed with big pieces of fruit, they can be enjoyed as drinks you eat. Some people are also surprised by the way they are served, with a glass placed inside a can.

I visited on a Saturday night. I was glad I made a reservation. The restaurant was filled mostly with parties of 2〜3 people. The counter seats gave a great sense of being right in the action, and when they served the french fries and sukiyaki skewers, they also put on a performance, which was fun. The food was very delicious, and I was Manzoku. It was such a lovely place that I would like to recommend to my friends!!

Not only was the food delicious, but the upbeat staff made it a really fun time! Every maki-kushi (rolled skewers) was seasoned so well that I could have eaten as many as they had!! They also had all kinds of drinks, and I wanted to come back and try more of them

Tsukushitei is a yakitori izakaya about a 3-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line, and is said to be a family-run, homey place that has been loved in Shimokitazawa for many years.
It has table and counter seating, and is popular for being easy to use for any occasion.

The grilled skewers, marinated and cooked in a secret tare (sweet soy-based sauce) that has been continuously topped up since the restaurant first opened, are said to be outstanding.
The recommended choices are torimomo (chicken thigh), negima (chicken and scallion), and reba (liver). The style here is to write your order on the yakitori order sheet.
Photograph:マス オオヤマ
The sashimi menu featuring fresh fish sourced from Toyosu Shijo (Toyosu Market) is also very popular, with options such as the “Value Sashimi Assortment” for 2 people and the “Small Sashimi Assortment” per person.
The “Tennen Nama Hon-maguro Osashimi” is bluefin tuna sourced from a tuna wholesaler. Some say they could casually enjoy the taste of the real thing.

Every dish was delicious, the staff were all quick and efficient, and it was a very comfortable yakitori restaurant. The sashimi was beautifully presented, and the wakame (seaweed) served with it had a nice texture and of course tasted great too. They also have a wide selection of drinks, which was a nice plus! I got so caught up in eating that I forgot to take photos, but the yakitori was also really delicious!

ナンデンノシン
For the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), you can choose salt or tare sauce, and there is a good variety. The price per skewer is standard, but the pieces are not small. They also have daily specials, and you can order sashimi as well. The portion of the beef tendon stew is very refined. The soft roe ponzu was very delicious。 The chorizo sausage is good value for money.

A playful signature feature here lets you pour drinks directly from the rows of taps lined up across an entire wall.
It is a full-on entertainment experience, and the sight itself is fun to take in. There are 3 All you can drink courses to choose from, and depending on how you mix them, you can enjoy a drink that is all your own.

Terumae, the izakaya with amazingly good value where you can get All you can drink alcohol straight from the tap! A new restaurant seems to have opened in Shimokitazawa, so I went to check it out. From the classic torotaku (fatty tuna and pickled daikon) to green peppers with meat miso, they have a wide range of the dishes you want when you go to an izakaya. This is the kind of reliable neighborhood izakaya you can count on. If you want to drink a lot, or if you want to keep drinking with friends until morning, definitely give it a try!

One of the best things about this place is the huge variety of drinks! They have a wide selection, from classic lemon and oolong tea to mojitos, coffee, and Micho (Fruit vinegar)! Since you turn the tap yourself to pour in the liqueur, you can adjust how strong you want your drink◎Best of all, the time spent deciding what to drink is exciting and fun

Izakaya Ubu is an izakaya tucked away on a backstreet about a 5-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Odawara Line, and it has a good reputation for offering tasty snacks and drinks at reasonable prices.
The compact interior feels cozy, with raised seating and counter seats, creating a warm space that makes regulars want to stop by on a whim.

They offer seasonal sashimi and seasonal dishes, and each one shows careful craftsmanship.
The Aburi Shime Saba (seared cured mackerel), finished by searing it right in front of you, is a popular dish known for its irresistible toasty aroma. Searing the rich, fatty mackerel brings out its flavor even more.
Photograph:yuu_2001
You can enjoy about 12 kinds of honkaku jizake (authentic local sake) at all times, with the selection rotating.
They also have the full range of standard drinks, including shochu, sours, cocktails, and wine. It is a nice plus that you can choose a drink you like to match your meal.
The other day, I visited Izakaya Ubu (Shimokitazawa). The interior is small and cozy, with a homey atmosphere that feels comfortable, and it gave the impression of having many regulars. The aburi shime-saba (seared cured mackerel) was torched right in front of me and had a nice smoky aroma, making it a perfect match for Japanese sake. The chicken nanban came with a creamy tartar sauce and tasted great.

The interior has a cozy atmosphere, with counter seats and zashiki (tatami seating), and the calm feel is really nice. First, we ordered an assorted sashimi platter. It was piled with lots of fresh fish and tasted great! The aburi shime-saba (seared cured mackerel) was especially good, and they seared it right in front of us, so the toasty aroma was irresistible.

Shimokitazawa Miruku is an izakaya (Japanese pub) located about a 6-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.
The restaurant has table seating in a space full of character, making it easy to use for Banquets with friends. The roomy counter seats also make it easy to enjoy a drink on your own.

Their signature menu item is the Special "osashimi (sliced raw fish)" delivered fresh from the market every day.
The daily specials listed on the blackboard change every day, so each visit brings a chance to try new flavors. They recommend checking the blackboard menu first.

The photo shows Komochi kombu kelp fry, a popular dish known for its bold flavor.
Finished with the restaurant’s own cooking method, it has a crisp coating and the pop of the kombu kelp is addictively satisfying, making it a dish you will want to order again.

In a good way, this didn’t feel like a typical izakaya at all, and I was really happy to find a place that felt like home cooking. It has a nice lively buzz, so it’s easy to walk into. Shimokitazawa is in the middle of redevelopment, but I also like that this spot still isn’t in an area that’s become too built up. I thought the harasu-yaki (grilled salmon belly) was especially tasty!

It’s also unusual and fun that the draft beer is Heartland. Another nice point is that they have furufuru ryokucha (shaken green tea). The interior is fairly spacious too, and it’s nice that you can casually drop in anytime if you go early. This is a recommended izakaya (Japanese pub) that I’ve visited many times.

Taishu Sakaba Sushi Sumibi Shimokitazawa Ten is a lively taishu izakaya (casual Japanese pub) tucked away in a back alley about a 5-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line.
The bright interior, with the warmth of wood throughout, feels casual and easy to step into, and it is said to attract people of all ages.

They offer a wide menu, from fresh sushi, yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), sumibiyaki (charcoal grilling), and popular izakaya staples to special dishes for true food lovers.
For sushi toppings, they are particular about sourcing not only from Toyosu Market but also from Nagahama Fish Market in Fukuoka. The shari (sushi rice), made with Special rice and red vinegar, brings out the good flavor of the toppings.
Photograph:RUDIE
Yakitori grilled over charcoal to bring out a rich, toasty aroma, along with creative skewers, are also popular.
The recommended “5-skewer assortment,” made with cuts skewered fresh every day, is said to be a great dish that lets you enjoy the rich flavor of the ingredients and the savory aroma unique to charcoal grilling.
The other day, I went to Taishu Sakaba Sushisumibi Shimokitazawa Ten with a friend. It is close to the station and easy to drop into, with a lively atmosphere. One of the big draws is that you can enjoy sushi and sumibiyaki (charcoal grilling) at the same time, and both the fragrant charcoal grilled skewers and the sushi topped with fresh neta (ingredients for sushi) were very good. The drinks during happy hour were also a great deal, and we ended up staying longer than planned.

I think this is a good izakaya where you can enjoy both seafood and yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). It is easy to order with mobile ordering, and since the place is not that large, it has a nice feel without being too noisy! I recommend making a reservation before you go! The tomato pork skewer is delicious!

Irori Sakaba MAGI/one.1 is a hidden izakaya tucked away in a back alley of Shimokitazawa, about a 3-minute walk from Shimokitazawa Station on the Odakyu Line, with a charming space created by renovating a traditional old house.
In addition to counter seats with a view of the irori (sunken hearth), it also has fully private rooms. Since the private rooms are popular, it is best to book early.

Along with small plates, you can enjoy local sake from Miyagi, a well known rice producing region.
The signature "Clay Pot rice" is cooked over a kamado (traditional stove), which brings out the rice's flavor, aroma, texture, and rich taste. The "Sanriku no Megumi Gohan (Sanriku bounty rice)" made with seasonal seafood is a popular menu item, topped generously with jewel like ikura (salmon roe) and salmon.

You can enjoy robatayaki (fireside grilling) cooked over an irori (sunken hearth), with the added fun of a live atmosphere.
The "Shungyo no Robatayaki" features seasonal fish grilled until flaky and full of flavor, with a great balance of smokiness and umami, and it is said to pair very well with Japanese sake.
Spend a relaxing time in this Japanese modern hideaway set in a renovated kominka (traditional Japanese house), while gazing at the irori (sunken hearth). The Clay Pot rice is cooked nice and fluffy and tastes great. It pairs well with Miyagi local sake and their homemade lemon sour.

All of the dishes are delicious, and the five assorted kobachi (small side dishes) are especially recommended! These well-balanced small dishes pair great with Japanese sake, and they are enjoyable enough on their own. The sashimi is beautiful too. The fried satoimo (taro) goes really well as a snack with a highball or beer and keeps your chopsticks moving. The prices are set a little high, so a relaxed meal in a calm Private room is the best choice. Everyone was saying they want to come again!
