Sushi Sakaba Kiichi

This is a bar-style izakaya where you can enjoy sushi and creative dishes made with fresh seafood, from Western-style to Japanese-style.

It is a 3-minute walk from Hiroshima Dentetsu Hondori Station, and the interior is said to have a stylish atmosphere that is perfect for Special days as well.

They are particular about the freshness of their seafood, and source it every morning from Hiroshima's Chuo Ichiba (central market).

The owner's carefully crafted sushi and the popular sashimi assortment made with Special toppings are popular. Depending on what is available that day, they offer a lineup of recommended toppings.

The a la carte dishes will leave you satisfied with both their looks and taste, and the menu is full of items that drink lovers will find hard to resist. The photo shows the “Avocado Seafood Yukhoe (Korean-style seasoned raw seafood).”

It uses plenty of fresh seafood, the same kind used for sashimi and sushi, and the combination of yukhoe and avocado gives it a Western-style taste.

tanatana_08

The 10-item sashimi assortment was fresh across the board, with every piece plump and tasty. The chutoro (medium fatty tuna) melted in my mouth. They even had proper soy sauce prepared for the sashimi, which showed real care. The menu is extensive, and everything is good. Just my personal favorites, but I’d recommend the roast beef and the Mediterranean omelet! The staff were also very kind and polite.

The sumibiyaki yakitori (charcoal grilled chicken skewers) was excellent. The toasty aroma whets your appetite, crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside, and once you try it, it becomes addictive. The jidori aburiyaki (lightly seared local chicken) in particular was cooked to perfection, and I was impressed by how fully it brought out the jidori’s natural flavor.

While staying overnight in Hiroshima, I was looking for a place where we could eat oysters and Hiroshima-yaki (Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki) and still bring children. I had almost given up because I could not find one, but then my son found it. The restaurant was in the basement, but they kindly held our carry-on as well, and we also appreciated the seating divided into Private rooms. The oysters came in many styles besides raw, steamed, and grilled, and they also had lots of other Hiroshima gourmet specialties.

It is said to have a refreshing taste thanks to the strong carbonation. The "Frozen Lemon Sour," served with frozen lemon, is also a popular drink.

They offer a wide selection of kushiyaki (grilled skewers) that are just right for snacking on while sipping a sour. In addition to yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), the meat-wrapped vegetable skewers, with more than 20 varieties, are also recommended.

The vegetables are wrapped in meat from Domestic Momiji-buta (Momiji pork), and people say you can really enjoy the combo of juicy meat and fresh vegetables.

The hyoketsu lemon sour seems so easy to keep drinking forever that it’s almost scary lol. The lineup of robatayaki (fireside grill) meat rolls was all delicious, and the niku-dofu (meat and tofu stew) I order every time was as reliably good as ever♪

ニョロトノファイターズ

Speaking of Hiroshima, there’s Setouchi lemon. This is a place where you can enjoy lemon sours made with plenty of Setouchi lemon. The bright tang really came through, and it was an incredibly tasty drink. And the food here was just too good! The fried oysters and yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) were so good that I ended up ordering too much.

Every dish was delicious. The sashimi assortment was also very good, and the sawara (Spanish mackerel) stood out in particular. The basashi (horse sashimi) was as fresh as could be and very tasty. I also had Hiroshima meibutsu (Hiroshima specialty) uni-houren, and the combination of sea urchin and spinach was excellent. They had a wide selection of Japanese sake, and there were many other labels I wanted to try.

The recommended simmered beef cheek was cooked until tender and was delicious as well. The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, and the food was very good. We used the ozashiki (tatami room seating), and the timing of the dishes was good. The staff also checked on our drinks, and our guest of honor, a senior colleague, was very pleased.

I made a reservation for the All you can eat and drink plan! There are not many places where you can get All you can eat and drink at this price, so I was really happy with it. I had a great time and it was good value for money!

It was fun to see they had some slightly unusual sours〜The plate for the potato salad said Boom!! on it lol. You order from your smartphone, but since it’s in the basement, there’s Wi-Fi available too, so no worries if the signal is weak.

あやぺこりん

A famous motsu-nabe (offal hot pot) restaurant found across Japan has a location in Hiroshima City. It is a popular place and was full as soon as it opened. The interior is clean with a lively atmosphere. I chose the Tashu limited soup, and the spicy miso flavor was very good. I went with the Special course, and it even came with an ice cream monaka, so I was full and very Manzoku.

I wanted to try the shoyu motsu-nabe (soy sauce offal Hot Pot), but since miso was the most popular, I chose the miso. It was delicious! It had a very generous amount of motsu (offal), too! I ordered the course, and it came with one refill, which was very Manzoku. The noodles at the end were also great. It's excellent that you can get it with All you can drink for JPY5,000 range.
