Popular yakitori restaurants in Osaka Prefecture's Umeda and Shinchi areas

CHIKICHIKI Hanshin Umeda Ten

It has great access, just a 1-minute walk from Hanshin Umeda Station. It is located on Basement Level 2 of Hanshin Umeda Honten, a department store where you can enjoy shopping and dining in one place.

The interior has a warm, woody feel. The atmosphere is casual, and some customers enjoy a drink from lunchtime.

The yakitori menu is based on Omakase courses of 5, 7, or 9 skewers, and you can add A la carte items.

The outside is said to be nicely charred and crisp, while the inside stays juicy, with good quality meat that is moist.

They season each skewer with either tare sauce or salt depending on what best suits the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), bringing out the natural character of each ingredient.

Reviewers said the momo (chicken thigh) is thick and juicy, the sunazuri (gizzard) has a nice texture and a light taste, and the tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) releases more flavor with every bite.

Story1000

"seseri (chicken neck)" "sunazuri (gizzard)" "tebamoto (chicken drumette)" "nagaimo (Chinese yam)" "momo (chicken thigh)". The chicken was tender across the board and very tasty! The "seseri" was packed with umami and juicy. The "sunazuri" had a nice crunchy bite and a light taste. The "tebamoto" had tender meat and was excellent. The "nagaimo" had a light texture and was outstanding. The "momo" was thick, springy, and had just the right amount of fat.

ポンペイ大噴火

The skewers are carefully grilled over charcoal, giving them a nice aroma, and the more you chew, the more flavor spreads. The balance between tare sauce and salt is spot on, and each item shows thoughtful preparation. From the Appetizers to the final dish, the course flows smoothly, and I enjoyed it all the way through without getting bored. With its calm atmosphere and heartfelt service, this was a yakitori restaurant where I could spend a Special time.

Yakitori UMEDA KOHT

Yakitori UMEDA KOHT is a new brand from Kasshiwa, a restaurant group with several locations in Osaka, and it is said to be a casual taishu yakitori restaurant.

It is located near Tsuyunoten Jinja (Tsuyunoten Shrine), also known as Ohatsu Tenjin, a well known spiritual spot for love.

The star of the show is yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), carefully grilled to perfection as the chef controls the charcoal while watching how each skewer cooks.

The yakitori is juicy and satisfying, with a nice charcoal aroma and plenty of umami, and every skewer is so tasty that you can easily finish them all.

The "seseri-negima" is an original dish made with seseri (chicken neck meat) wrapped around negi (Japanese long onion).

The negi, heated while wrapped in the meat, turns meltingly soft, and its sweetness is said to spread with every bite. They also offer various other cuts, such as "kimo" liver grilled with sauce, made from liver so fresh it can even be eaten as sashimi.

Every skewer is really satisfying! The juicy momo-niku (chicken thigh) in particular and the fragrant crispy skin are a perfect match, and even though they are very filling, I finished them with no problem. The good flavor of the chicken really comes through, and the tare (sweet soy-based sauce) is excellent too. The menu also has a wide variety of options, with plenty of à la carte dishes besides yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). You can enjoy the meal all the way to the end without getting tired of it.

・KOHT Manpuku Course
The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) itself was really delicious. On top of that, the experience of eating yakitori grilled right in front of us made it taste even better. In addition to the course, we ordered a few more skewers à la carte and went home full. I especially recommend the kimo (liver). It was a great meal. I would love to visit again.

Yakitori Yuu Ichiban Deshi

On the lively Sonezaki Ohatsu Tenjin Dori Shotengai (Ohatsu Tenjin Street Shopping Arcade) in the Osaka/Umeda area, right next to the entrance, on the third floor of a building, sits Yakitori Yu Ichiban Deshi, with its calm and casual atmosphere.

This much talked about restaurant is run by the top apprentice of the hugely popular Yakitori Yu, a place so popular that reservations are hard to get, and is known for serving yakitori made with carefully selected branded chicken.

They use carefully selected branded chicken, including their own brand Rokkaku Daimao and Nagoya Cochin (Nagoya Cochin chicken), a branded jidori chicken from Aichi Prefecture.

The rich flavor of the chicken is enhanced by the aroma of Domestic binchotan (high-grade charcoal), making the yakitori even more flavorful.

Among the yakitori (Japanese grilled chicken skewers), all of which have a great reputation, the most popular are the "tsukune tare onsen tamago" and "tsukune shio."

The "tsukune tare onsen tamago" is said to feature fluffy tsukune coated in egg, giving it a melt-in-your-mouth feel.

サカナノエサ.

The place was lively enough that the small number of seats inside felt even fewer, and the food came out quickly. The seasoning was just right, and I really enjoyed the meal. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) in particular was great, and every skewer, including the assortment, was tasty and very Manzoku! I’d love to visit again!

食いしん坊プリンス

Honestly, the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) place that impressed me the most this year was hands down Yuichi Bansdeshi. The service, drinks, and yakitori were all great. On top of that, you can really feel how much care goes into each skewer, and the yakitori shows real attention and love. The Cartilage Kara-age is trending with a spicy seasoning. The seasoning on the fried dishes is also top notch.

Binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal) to Miyazaki-dori (Miyazaki chicken) Senmon TORA鶏YA

This yakitori specialty restaurant near Tsuyunoten Jinja (Tsuyunoten Shrine, Ohatsu Tenjin) serves the rare jidokko (free-range chicken).

The chicken is grilled using an original method that locks in the juices and flavor. They carefully cook it through while calculating the position of the charcoal.

The yakitori, which lets you simply enjoy brand chicken selections like “Kiwami Mune (sauce or salt),” is recommended.

Likewise, “Kiwami Momo (sauce or salt)” from the same Kiwami series is said to be especially good, with thick, meaty flesh, crisp and fragrant grilled skin, and juices full of flavor.

I think this was the best yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) I’ve ever had. I’ve been back many times, and if a friend asks me where to go for good yakitori, this is the place I recommend. I like it that much because it’s so good. The charcoal grilled dishes were especially tasty. I want to come back and try some different things too.

くっぱじゅにあ弐号機

This was a yakitori restaurant I had been really curious about. I happened to get in without a reservation! The otsukuri (sashimi platter) was so good that I finished it in no time! Tamahimo (grilled chicken ovaries and oviduct) was listed as limited quantity, but I was able to order it too. The grilling was perfect, and it was unbelievably delicious! The ikura (salmon roe) Rice bowl was also really good◎Next time I’ll make a reservation before I go!

たっくん9009

They ordered gatsu-sashi (blanched pork stomach sashimi), homemade atsuage (deep-fried tofu), miso soup cabbage, and almost every kind of yakitori (grilled chicken skewer)! Each skewer was big, too! It depends on the skewer, but the tebasaki (chicken wing) was insanely good. The seseri (chicken neck) and zuri (gizzard) were tasty too!

This was my first visit. Since the staff were very friendly and said that if you drink a lot, the All you can drink option is a good deal, I went with the All you can drink set. All the food was great, and the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was especially delicious. On top of that, the restaurant's specialty, tsukune (chicken meatball skewer), was surprisingly big, and it tasted great!

Osaka and Namba are busy entertainment districts, home to places like Namba Grand Kagetsu, a comedy theater, and Dotonbori, known for shopping and great food.

At this popular restaurant, known for its savory charcoal grilled yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), guests can enjoy their meal at the first floor counter seats while watching the grilling right in front of them.

The classic skewer negima is a recommended yakitori made with large pieces of green onion and chicken placed alternately on the skewer.

ぴーぴー00

I visited with a reservation. There are first and second floors, and this time I sat at the counter on the first floor. You can watch them grilling right in front of you. What surprised me was that when I ordered sunagimo (gizzard), it also came skewered with celery and okra...! I was surprised to see vegetables other than negi (green onion) on the skewer. The staff were friendly, and I had a very pleasant meal!

I visited Enya, which I had been curious about for a while, right after it opened. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) here are amazingly large, skewer by skewer! The drinks go down easy. I forgot to take photos, but I had plenty of Japanese sake and shochu (Japanese distilled spirit)! The staff were all very pleasant too ◎ I’ll definitely be coming back.

コーエ

I went without a reservation, but they happened to have seats open, so I got in right away! Anyway, the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) was great! The grilling was spot on, and each piece was big too. It seems the staff chooses the seasoning for everything except the kawa (chicken skin), but anyway, the skin was so good. The tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) was nice and fluffy too. I can see why this place is so popular. The corn was sweet and really delicious too.

All I could say was, "So good!" It was on a whole different level. The yakitori made with Yamato Nikudori (Yamato free-range chicken) was outstanding. The bonjiri (tail) had great texture and rich umami, clearly in a class of its own. It wasn’t greasy at all, and I could really enjoy the bite and flavor. I’d never had sasami (chicken tender) like this before. It was juicy, with flavorful meat juices flowing out. The grilling was spot on, and the sasami with its wasabi aroma was so good it really showed the chef’s skill.

The "[Signature Item] Aburi Muneniku Oroshi Ikura Nose (grated daikon radish topped with salmon roe) (dashi soy sauce)" is a creative style yakitori dish that feels surprising yet well balanced.

The moist chicken breast goes well with the salty salmon roe and the refreshing taste of grated daikon radish, and people also like the original touch of eating it with dashi.

デジタルキッド

It was my first time visiting, and the friends I went with all said in unison, “What a great find!” We all agreed. This is just my personal impression, but the food came out quickly after we ordered, and everything was a hit, from the sashimi to the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), side dishes, and even the final dish♪

The mune (breast) feels quite filling, maybe because it is so juicy. The kokoro (heart) is tender. The kawa (skin) is crispy on the surface. The ponjiri (tail) is plump with only light richness. Only the tsunagi (part connecting the heart and liver) came with tare sauce, and the sauce was sweet and tasty.

It was a small place with counter seating and one table, but that actually made it nice and calm for drinks. The nama reba (fresh liver), sasami sashimi, and yakitori Omakase assortment were tasty, so I recommend them. Next time, I’d like to try Minoh beer.

The nice smell of charcoal grilling filled the air and made me even hungrier!!First, the classic yakitori (grilled chicken skewers)!!The negima (chicken and scallion skewer) had a great balance of juicy chicken and nicely grilled scallions, and each bite spread with flavor. The zuri (gizzard) had a pleasantly crunchy texture, and the more you chewed, the more of the chicken’s flavor came through.

Nonotori Namba-do

Nonotori Nambado, just a 1-minute walk from Exit 11 of Namba Station on (Each) line, offers great access. It is located on the 8th floor of GEMS Namba, a building made up mainly of restaurants.

The interior has a stylish, casual feel. Seats by the window with a view of Osaka's night skyline are especially popular.

They use Hyogo Prefecture brand jidori (local free-range chicken), sourced directly from the farm for outstanding freshness.

They are known for yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and chicken dishes that make the most of the ingredients, and the day's recommended yakitori Omakase course is also a great way to really savor the chicken.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) includes not only the classics, but also rare cuts available in limited quantities.

On top of that, the lineup is exciting, with items like sasami shiso-ume (chicken tenderloin with shiso and pickled plum) where you can choose the doneness (rare or well-done), and unexpected combinations like kimo-aburi (lightly seared liver) with truffle oil.

m_chanグルメ

Each skewer is grilled with care, so you can enjoy them all without getting tired of them, from the fresh taste of sasami shiso ume (chicken tenderloin with shiso and plum), to the plump and juicy tokusei tsukune (special chicken meatball), to negima (chicken and scallion skewer) with the sweetness of the scallion and the rich flavor of the thigh meat, and even the springy texture of kokoro (chicken heart). The thigh meat skewer in particular stood out to me, with the aroma of cumin, the grainy texture of Tasmanian mustard, and its fresh tangy taste making it a delicious and memorable skewer.

Yakitori Mumei NO NAME

Located in the heart of Minami (Osaka’s downtown entertainment district), this restaurant is surrounded by lively areas such as Namba, Shinsaibashi, and Dotonbori.

Yakitori Mumei NO NAME is a yakitori restaurant with a refined, stylish feel and a calm atmosphere that gives it a hideaway vibe.

From the 7 counter seats, you can watch the cooking up close and enjoy a live feel that stimulates all five senses.

The style here is to grill Tajima-dori (Tajima chicken), a branded chicken raised in the Tajima region of Hyogo Prefecture, over Tosa binchotan (high-grade charcoal from Tosa).

The standard menu is an Omakase course of 6 or 8 skewers, with a small side dish and one dish To finish. It seems you can also add A la carte chicken and vegetable items.

The "tsukune (chicken meatball)" is made by kneading and shaping minced meat, and comes with kinkan (unlaid egg yolk), an egg from before the chicken lays it, making this a popular yakitori that lets you enjoy a change in flavor.

Chalin

This restaurant is on the 4th floor of a building on Mitsudera-suji. It might be a little hard to find! When you get off the elevator, you might wonder, Where’s the restaurant? but the door clearly says “NO NAME”! Inside, there are only 7 counter seats. There are 2 types of course meals! They can also accommodate A la carte! Each dish is carefully prepared and served, which makes the experience exciting and the food delicious.

First, eat about half of the tsukune by itself. Then pierce the kinkan (immature egg yolk) with the tip of the skewer and eat it together with the tsukune. The kinkan and tsukune blend together in your mouth for a rich, full flavor.

Torikizoku Dotonbori Ten

It is located near the river in Dotonbori (a famous tourist spot in Osaka), where large signboards line the area. Since it stays open until 5 the next morning, some reviews say it comes in handy when bar hopping late at night into the early morning.

Torikizoku, which was founded in Higashiosaka, Osaka Prefecture, is a major yakitori izakaya chain with locations across Japan.

Yakitori made with Domestic chicken, known for its high quality and great taste. The chicken is carefully skewered by hand in the kushiuchi (skewering) process, and the full menu, including these labor intensive yakitori skewers, is offered at a reasonable flat price.

Along with yakitori, the restaurant also has a wide selection of dishes, including the popular "Potato Fries" made with Hokkaido (Hokkaido) potatoes.

The specialty is chicken thigh yakitori, said to be outstanding with sweet negi (Japanese long onion) and juicy chicken thigh meat. They also recommend the healthy, low fat chicken breast.

A standard side with the yakitori is the "Cabbage Plate," which comes with a light soy sauce based tare (sauce), and refills are free.

アニチャリ

I checked the menu right away. Well, if you came to Toriki, these are the standard things to order(笑)◯Mune Kizoku-yaki tare (grilled chicken breast with sauce)◯Momo Kizoku-yaki tare (grilled chicken thigh with sauce). I’m not a big fan of chicken skin or organ meats, so I don’t go to yakitori restaurants very often, but breast and thigh are easy for me to enjoy. Each plate comes with 2 skewers, so the portion feels nice and filling. Toriki’s original tare (sauce) is really tasty too(*≧∀≦*)

Sumibi Yakitori Mokkei

This yakitori restaurant, located on the basement level of a building and by reservation only, has a calm Japanese-style space with table seating and a wooden counter.

Sumibiyaki Tori Mokkei is said to be a hot topic for enjoying carefully crafted yakitori, with attention put into (Each) step of the process, in a hideaway spot in Higashi-Shinsaibashi.

This restaurant has its own unique style: after ice temperature aging carefully selected jidori (local chicken) such as Miyazaki Jitokko and Awaodori, the chefs break them down themselves and carefully skewer each piece.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), cooked low and slow over heat from a short distance, are said to be filled with the aroma of binchotan (high-grade white charcoal).

They serve many thick cuts of yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), made with high quality meat whose rich flavor seems to burst in your mouth, with a light and juicy finish.

Besides yakitori, they also offer "Ogon no TKG," a photogenic rice dish topped with a rich egg yolk and garnished with gold leaf.

They had a Private room, so I could relax and enjoy my meal without worrying about the people around me. The staff were also very kind, and I had a very comfortable time. Hina-dori Kara-age Shinjiro

On the east side of the roughly 580m-long Shinsaibashisuji Shotengai (Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street), in the Higashi-Shinsaibashi area, you will find the hideaway-like Hina-dori Kara-age Shinjiro.

Many reviews rave that everything on the menu is delicious, and it seems some customers come back again and again.

You can enjoy high quality chicken dishes made with Daisen-dori (chicken from Mt. Daisen), raised in the rich natural surroundings of Tottori Prefecture, and Ise Aka-dori (red chicken), a branded chicken from Mie Prefecture.

They grill the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) over Tosa-binchotan (Tosa white charcoal), then sprinkle it with salt from Hokkaido to bring out the chicken's flavor.

The high quality yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) has a plump, springy texture, and the tare sauce is just as popular as the salt seasoning.

The rich flavor of the tare blends with the meat juices, and each bite brings out more of the taste. They also recommend Japanese sake that pairs well with the yakitori and chicken dishes, and since it is served by the glass, you can enjoy the pairing casually.

モビー

This place also serves amazingly good mizutaki (chicken hotpot), but I wasn’t that hungry, so I mainly ordered yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). The yakitori itself was of course delicious, but personally, I think the tare sauce here is especially good! The tare on the kokoro nokori (a rare chicken cut near the heart), for example, was so good, and every bite brought out more of the tasty sauce and meat juices. The To finish kinako (roasted soybean flour) ice cream is really good too. It’s the best!

The manager’s smile when I walked in immediately put me in a great mood. I sat at the counter and mainly ordered yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). The sunagimo (gizzard), momo (thigh), and yagen nankotsu (soft cartilage) were all incredibly good, but the seseri (neck meat) was on another level. It was so plump and juicy, absolutely amazing. The manager’s smile on the way out also made leaving the restaurant feel great. Next time, I might come here as my first stop and really enjoy it.

Iwaidori Shinsaibashi Ten

Iwai Tori Shinsaibashi Ten is run by the Teppan-yaki restaurant group Teppan Jinja Group, which mainly operates in Osaka City.

There are counter and table seats in total, and the counter lets you enjoy a live atmosphere. One reason for its popularity is also the staff’s friendly and energetic vibe.

They use Ise Akadori (a premium Mie brand chicken), one of Mie Prefecture’s leading branded chickens, and you can enjoy yakitori such as skin-on chicken tender and furisode (shoulder meat near the wing).

At this restaurant, people say you can’t go wrong no matter what you order, and the recommended choice is the Omakase plan, where they keep serving skewers until you tell them to stop.

"Sekai no Tsukune (World Tsukune)" is the restaurant's signature item and one you won't want to miss.

With simple seasoning of salt, it lets the natural flavor of the ingredients come through directly. It is said to have a light, juicy texture.

玉子王子ོ

One bite of a skewer... "Ah, this is the real deal." The classic tsukune (chicken meatball), Heart, and negima (chicken and scallion skewer) are all winners. They even have creative skewers with unusual ingredients, so you never get bored. And the one like "egg yolk x seared meatball" is so good it feels almost unfair. Even if it’s crowded, calling ahead usually does the trick. That’s exactly why the people who know this place keep coming back—you can totally see why.

・Tsukune (chicken meatballs) for the world and skin-on soriresu (oyster cut)
Fluffy and juicy. Since it’s simply grilled with rock salt, the natural flavor comes through directly. I really think it’s a taste you can be proud of on the world stage. There’s also a rare cut called “skin-on soriresu,” and this is great too. Soriresu is French for “only a fool would leave it behind.”

"Toriya Umeboshi" is a yakitori restaurant known for its unusual ume-dare (plum sauce) skewers. By keeping the tartness of the plum subtle, it pairs well with the chicken fat too.

The plum aroma has earned it a good reputation for letting the natural flavor of the chicken shine while still tasting light and refreshing.

At this restaurant, where service is quick and prices are reasonable, a yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) tasting comparison is also recommended. Besides ume dare (plum sauce), you can enjoy a range of seasonings such as salt and ponzu sauce.

The “Shiko no Tsukune” is a popular menu item that took a year to develop. It has a light, soft texture, and is said to be full of juicy flavor.

This was our first visit as a party of two. The menu had lots of options, and everything we tried was delicious, so we kept eating. The tsukune (chicken meatball skewers) was especially great. I was Surprising at how quickly the food arrived after we ordered. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also nice, and it is a place I would love to visit again. Thank you very much.

Popular yakitori restaurants in Osaka Prefecture [Other Areas]

Sumibiyaki Tori Ikoka

Along the Higashiyokobori River in Chuo-ku, Osaka City. The well-kept counter-only interior has an upscale feel while still offering a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

This restaurant is popular for its tasty yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) made with top-grade binchotan (high-quality charcoal) and good quality meat.

For the charcoal, they use Kishu Binchotan (premium white charcoal) from Wakayama Prefecture, known as one of the highest quality kinds of charcoal.

They serve sumibi yakitori (charcoal grilled chicken skewers) made with carefully selected fresh jidori (free-range chicken), grilled with real skill. At this restaurant, the system is that they first serve the owner’s Omakase 5-skewer set or 7-skewer set, and then you can order additional skewers.

"Sasami (chicken tenderloin) (wasabi, ume-niku (plum paste))" is a popular dish among fans, with soft, tender meat and just the right rare doneness.

"Tsukune (chicken meatball) (salt, tare sauce)" is also popular, and is said to contain onion and ginger, which seem to stand out even more with the salt seasoning.

・sasami (chicken tender) and seseri (neck meat)
The sasami is the best sasami skewer I’ve had so far! It has a tender texture with concentrated flavor, and the light touch of wasabi adds a nice accent. The seseri is thick and generously sized, with plenty of rich fat, making it very tasty.

・Tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) Salt
A lot of the skewers so far have been served with salt, and the fact that even the tsukune is eaten with salt shows the owner's attention to detail. The tsukune contains onion and ginger, and salt brings out the flavor better than tare sauce. Its barrel-like shape also makes it satisfying, and the juices spill out from inside with each bite. A skewer full of happiness.

Along with yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) wrapped in the smoky aroma of charcoal and firewood, it also serves vegetables and a la carte dishes. This is an Omakase course you will want to savor with all your senses.

A stylish yakitori restaurant with counter seating. The balance of yakitori and vegetables was good, and I enjoyed it all the way to the end. I also ordered extra kimo (liver). The staff were pleasant too, and it felt like a refined kind of yakitori place you can still visit casually.

You eat it coated with egg yolk and a rich sauce.

・5-item assortment of charcoal grilled young chicken yakitori
The five-item yakitori assortment (seseri (neck meat), skin, Outside skirt, thigh, and breast) is juicy with the fragrant aroma of charcoal grilling! You can enjoy the unique character of each cut. The house specialty, "tori tororo nabe (chicken yam Hot Pot)," is packed with vegetables and chicken for a very filling dish! The soup, rich with chicken flavor, gets tororo (grated yam) added to create a mild, full-bodied taste.

・5-skewer assortment of charcoal-grilled young chicken yakitori (grilled chicken skewers)
I went with the 5-skewer assortment for the grilled items. I was happy to see seseri (chicken neck) included, since it is one of my personal favorite cuts. It has a unique chewy texture. You can really taste the good flavor of the chicken, and it is delicious.
