I went to Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) that a friend of mine had been to. It's about a 7 minute walk from the station. The entrance was a miso barrel. We toast with a highball and receive a platter of miso oden. I knew that miso oden was a specialty of Nagoya, but I also thought that it could be eaten in Tokyo as well. Fried tofu is good. The miso soup is dripping. Radishes are soft. When you think of Izakaya (Japanese-style bar), you think of fried chicken, sweet and fried young chicken. The taste of miso is good. The batter is soft because it's been boiled, but the flavor of the miso comes through well. The shredded cabbage has a rich flavor and is perfect for resting your chopsticks. I was interested in the miso-marinated tataki Japanese black beef that was on the blackboard menu. I thought it was very reasonable for the volume I received. The meat is soft and sweet. The miso sauce seems to bring out the sweetness of the meat. Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) menu was all about miso, and the variety of miso and cooking methods brought out the flavor of each ingredient. Although it pushes out the miso, I think it plays a supporting role that brings out the ingredients.
