Remarks |
We will be closed from March 25th (Monday) due to "reconstruction work due to deterioration of the building" scheduled to begin in April 2024. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we would appreciate it if you would consider making a reservation or visiting the nearby Shinjuku Unatetsu Hanare. https://tabelog.com/tokyo/A1304/A130401/13239102/ Reopening is scheduled for spring 2025. |
Visited ``Shinjuku Unatetsu'' in Kabukicho. This is a long-established eel restaurant that suddenly appears in the middle of Japan's largest entertainment district. I found out about this store while reading reviews from my followers. Moreover, I learned that the store would be temporarily closed on the 25th of this month for rebuilding work, so I thought, ``This is it!'' and visited. I made a reservation in advance via Tabelog and visited. The entrance is a calm Japanese space, including the yellow building and white lanterns. The contradiction that such a store exists in Kabukicho, the city of desire, is indescribable. Recently, there is also a Godzilla, so many children and tourists visit here, so in that sense I feel safe. Since I had made a reservation, I was called ahead and taken to a counter seat. Jazz music is playing on the dark counter. The grill is right in front of you, and the bright chef takes orders while cooking the eel with great skill. I ordered while looking at the menu. Below, in order. □ Unajyu (special grade) (5,082 yen including tax) A wonderfully fluffy grilled eel. It's soft and doesn't hit the bone at all. The seasoning was exquisite, and the eel was really delicious. The amount of rice was also appropriate, which I personally thought was just right. The flavor of the egg tofu that came with it was a bit strong, but the juiciness of the liver and the subtle taste of the pickles were amazing. □ Grilled liver (396 yen including tax) Grilled liver with a good balance of heat and bitterness and umami. I enjoyed it and thought to myself, ``This is eel skewer.'' □ Liver (440 yen including tax) The liver was plump and had no odor at all, with a faint sweetness and flavor. This is also a craftsmanship. □ Kurikara (440 yen including tax) A piece with exquisite wasabi and fluffy meat. I gratefully accepted this, thinking again that it was actually an eel skewer. This is a general review. This is a very talented eel restaurant! I never expected to find such delicious eel in the middle of Kabukicho, so I was a little impressed. All of the eels are well-seasoned, and the heat is well absorbed. On top of that, it was exquisitely cooked to preserve the flavor and fat, making it a truly satisfying dish! I apologize for the recent comparison, but this is what I would call ``eel,'' and I was able to enjoy the skill of a long-established ``professional.'' Additionally, it seems that there is also a ``Hanare'' store in Kabukicho, so you may be able to visit there while the main store is being rebuilt. I vowed that I would definitely visit. Payment was made by credit card. Receipts are invoiced. It was delicious. I would like to visit again when it is new. Thank you for the meal.
