Excellent Sports Training Facility
This is a comprehensive sports training facility located at an elevation of 1350 meters in the Nobe Yamakoen area. It features an ice skating rink, archery range, kendo hall, training gym, accommodation building, and an auto-camping site.
I've visited this place about three times now, and the meals are served buffet-style for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I forgot to take a picture of the dinner, but I remember the fried foods being quite delicious, like shrimp tempura and mapo eggplant. I can't recall everything that was served, but I do remember enjoying some wine from Katsunuma and forgetting about dinner afterward.
Breakfast offered both Japanese and Western options, but since I don't usually eat much in the morning, I leaned toward the Western dishes. For lunch, there was a rice bowl with simmered beef, chicken soboro, and bean namul. Perhaps because the ingredients are sourced very locally, the lettuce was exceptionally tasty. They also had a coffee machine that brewed a fresh cup each time, which was a nice touch.
The cost for a 1-night stay with 3 meals in a room for three people, including facility usage fees, is JPY 13,000.
