This is a place I had been curious about ever since it was featured on local TV.
The Tsuruya in Karuizawa is always packed, and I typically just pass through this area on the bypass, so I was finally able to stop by.
Even though it was off-season, there were already a group of young tourists ahead of me.
The display case on the counter was empty, and I thought, "Oh no, they've sold out..." but then I saw that they were preparing each donut one by one after taking orders from the back.
I had been intrigued by the lemon cream, but this time I went with brown sugar and homemade custard.
As expected, just like its name suggests, it was rich and delicious!
It was a type of custard cream unlike any I have ever had before.
The brown sugar version was like a simple donut before they filled it with cream and other contents.
There were also two seasonal options, which I will have to look forward to next time.
Since it was takeout, I only got the donuts, but the drink menu, including cordial and homemade lemonade, looked really appealing as well.
There is also a space outside the building where you can sit and eat, so it would be nice to stop by in pleasant weather for a snack break.
