This soba restaurant is located within Hattori Market in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture. It's casual and delicious, and it seemed relatively quiet, so I recommend it.
On the second day of our 1-night, 2-day trip to Karuizawa, we checked out from Harvest Karuizawa and headed to the Stone Church. This is where my wife and I had our wedding. We came here as a family when our daughter was 1 year old, and I feel so happy to be here with her again. We were able to enter the church this day, and I told my daughter, "This is where Mommy and Daddy got married." We also took a commemorative photo in front of the church.
When I asked about Pastor Y, I learned that he had passed away a few years ago. Oh...
After using the restroom at Bleston Court, we moved on to Hattori Market. We decided to have lunch at Oiwake Soba Takumi Kikori. I had added this restaurant to my list of places to visit before the trip. It’s said to be a branch of the soba restaurant that Kimutaku featured in a Banana Man show during the New Year’s holiday. The interior is designed like a service area, but it’s child-friendly and has high chairs available.
Now, what should we eat?
I ordered the Vegetable Tempura Soba, Large Size for JPY 1,760 + JPY 385.
My wife ordered Set A (Mori Soba with Walnut Sauce, Tempura, Small Side, and Dessert) for JPY 1,749.
My plan was to order the large size to share with my daughter.
The soba that arrived looked delicious. It was fresh and crispy, and the tempura was perfectly fried. I was delighted to see my daughter happily eating the soba. My wife was also satisfied with her soba, especially enjoying the walnut sauce.
Hattori Market was relatively quiet overall, making it a comfortable place to be. Although it’s not very big, there aren’t many sights to see, but it’s just right as a stopover for sightseeing in Karuizawa.
Oiwake Soba Takumi Kikori has a limited number of seats, but it’s not too crowded, and you can enjoy delicious soba, so I recommend it.
It was a great meal.
