Despite the scorching heat in Kanto continuing into September, I decided to escape to Karuizawa.
However, it was still hot in Karuizawa as well...
The restaurant is about a 10-minute walk from the station, making it a pleasant distance for a stroll (definitely needed an umbrella).
I appreciated that I could make a reservation online, even for a solo lunch.
It was fully booked even on a weekday, so I recommend making a reservation.
I had the JPY 4500 lunch course, accompanied by a glass of white wine (Rueda Verdejo).
Everything was delicious, and the variety of dishes left me completely satisfied.
The salad was amusingly served with a half-cutted lettuce just plopped in, which took me by surprise.
I had imagined it would be cut lettuce, so it caught me off guard...
I ended up cutting it with a knife while eating, but surprisingly, I found it easier to eat than typical cut lettuce.
The pasta paella was something I had never tried before. I didn’t even know it existed.
I always thought paella meant rice, but I learned it can also be made with pasta.
The flavor of the shrimp was rich and delicious.
The Basque cheesecake for dessert was thick and tasty, and I was extremely full afterwards.
I hope to come back for dinner next time.
It was a great meal!

After a day of hiking, I visited this restaurant.
I had made a reservation for the JOSE Course at JPY 9000.
Since my husband was driving, he opted for soft drinks while I enjoyed some wine.
Every dish was delicious and beautifully presented.
The venison was particularly tender and tasty.
The mackerel in the ajillo and the smoked tuna in the salad were also delightful.
The staff provided attentive service, and the timing for bringing out the dishes was perfect—there was hardly any wait.
When booking through Tabelog, I could only choose between 17:00 and 19:30 on weekends, so I went with 17:00.
However, the restaurant wasn't fully booked, and I believe they would accommodate other times if you called.
The parking lot is a bit of a walk from the restaurant, about a 2-minute walk towards the station, next to the Hachijuni Bank.
I will definitely visit again when I come back to Karuizawa. It was a great meal!
