April 2018 Nagano Series 4
A friend from Nagano invited me to visit Tsuruya, a supermarket, because I love cooking.
Honestly, I have passed by here many times in the past but never stopped (laughs).
It seems to be a popular supermarket chain known for its own brand in Karuizawa.
I wish we had a similar supermarket chain in Aichi!
When I go to Nagano, I always make sure to stop by.
Here’s a list of some of my favorite items:
Black Soybean Kinako
Green Soybean Kinako
Jams
Ginger (used in fruit sauté with pork)
Blueberries
Apples
Walnuts
I take a quick look at all the vegetables.
Wild plants are also inexpensive!
The vegetables are cheap, and they’re grown well!
This supermarket makes me want to say that it's just unfair for Nagano!
Black Soybean Kinako and Green Soybean Kinako are great for yogurt, warabi mochi, and rusk.
With sweet potatoes, I make sweet potato miso.
The walnut dressing isn’t great.
Honey nuts go well with cream cheese.
Tsuruya's store-made white miso is very versatile.
