At the end of our trip, a friend guided us to this cafe and bakery, which seems to be a renovated traditional Japanese house. I've recently developed a liking for their bread, and they offered to bring us some as a souvenir.
As we entered the narrow road leading to the shop...
We indeed found a large traditional house, and there were many cars parked in the unpaved lot. It's impressive how well people know places like this!
Upon entering the store, we found a bakery section at the front and a cafe space at the back. A chalkboard inside mentioned that they use yeast that has been slowly fermented without sugar or dairy products.
Here is the bread my friend bought for us:
- Organic Whole Wheat Petit Breads: JPY 190 × 3
- English Muffins: JPY 190 × 3
- Buns: JPY 190 × 3 (Tax Included)
Peeking through the entrance, there was a spacious area with wooden flooring, where 2-3 families with small children were relaxing. It felt nice and inviting.
Back at home, the three of us each enjoyed one of the three types of bread. All of them were chewy and very delicious. If I had to pick a favorite, I would say the petit bread is my top choice, but that’s just personal preference. Given the atmosphere of that place and these breads, it’s easy to understand why it is popular.
It was a great meal.
