Karuisawa: A Relaxing Café with an Attached Flower Shop for Breakfast (Revisit)
This year, I made an early morning trip to Karuizawa for a day visit.
I arrived at my favorite café, which serves breakfast starting at 9 AM, right when it opened. Every time I come here, I feel so excited to be in Karuizawa! (Breakfast is available only on weekends and holidays.)
This café has been featured in many coffee books, and recently, it has become popular on Instagram, so be careful as the parking lot fills up quickly.
Surrounded by greenery, this relaxing space is perfect for Instagram photos.
Plus, it’s a dog-friendly café, so there are many visitors with their furry friends.
I settled into a cozy sofa seat in the back.
Here’s what I enjoyed that day:
- Rosemary-flavored galette with roasted vegetables - JPY 1700
Comes with vegetable soup and a drink.
This healthy menu is packed with vegetables. The potatoes are filling, making it just the right portion. The vegetables were delicious.
- Whole baked apple with a drink - JPY 1100
When you think of Karuizawa, you think of apples. It was sweet and delightful.
For drinks, I had homemade apple tea soda, while my companion chose iced coffee.
This year, the hydrangeas from the flower shop were stunning, and it was truly soothing. I highly recommend this green, relaxing café in Karuizawa. I will definitely visit again!
Karuzawa: A Revisit to a Relaxing Cafe with an Attached Flower Shop
It's been 3 years since my last visit, and I came here for breakfast.
I arrived right at the 9 AM opening time.
This café is attached to a flower shop, and the hydrangeas were absolutely beautiful again this year.
What I had that day (tax included):
- Vegan avocado gratin with beet and chickpea cream. Comes with bread. JPY 1600
This is part of the morning menu available until 11 AM, featuring nutrient-rich vegetables known for their antioxidant properties and great for gut health, helping you become beautiful from the inside out.
It's more like a creamy mix of mashed beans, avocado, and vegetables rather than a traditional gratin, but it was delicious.
For the drink, I had Elderflower Cordial.
It's refreshing.
There are also sofa seats, providing a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
This has become one of my favorite spots.
A lovely café with a flower shop surrounded by greenery in Karuizawa
Every year, I visit the lush greenery of Karuizawa.
This time, I drove early in the morning, and the first place I headed to was this lovely café nestled in the woods, complete with a flower shop.
Moreover, it's known for its vegan cuisine, making it a favorite spot among women.
Since I arrived shortly after opening, I was able to sit in the spacious sofa area.
What I had that day (excluding tax):
- French Toast topped with plenty of soy milk and pumpkin: JPY 1200.
With fruit and a drink included, it was quite reasonable.
The French toast came with two slices, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside—absolutely delicious.
There was also an abundance of fruit.
I chose the elderflower soda for my drink.
The pink color was simply lovely.
The food was delicious, the ambiance was incredible, and I felt like I could stay there forever.
The attached flower shop had a stunning display of seasonal hydrangeas, which were so beautiful and soothing to look at.
It was my first visit, but I definitely want to come back someday.
The parking lot is quite small and doesn't hold many cars, so I recommend going early to secure a spot.

This year, I set off early in the morning for a day trip to Karuizawa.
First, I headed to RK GARDEN for breakfast (available only on weekends and holidays from 9 to 11 AM). I arrived just in time for the 9 AM opening. This café, surrounded by greenery and featuring a flower shop, has been my favorite since my first visit seven years ago, and I’ve returned many times since.
Whenever I visit this time of year, the flower shop is usually filled with hydrangeas, but perhaps due to the weather, there were none this time.
The breakfast menu offers four options, all vegan dishes packed with high-nutrient vegetables known for their antioxidant and skin-beautifying properties.
On this day, I had:
- Fava Bean Oat Milk Potage
Comes with special bread, a mini salad, and a drink for JPY 1700.
I chose the Elderflower Soda (+JPY 100).
My companion ordered a homemade lemonade a la carte for JPY 750.
The fava bean potage, made with oat milk, has a gentle flavor that highlights the creamy texture of the fava beans. It’s delicious even when paired with the bread! It’s healthy and packed with vegetables.
I love the refreshing taste of the elderflower soda, and the homemade lemonade is also delightful.
I tried everything on the breakfast menu, and each dish was healthy and delicious. Above all, I adore the atmosphere here. It’s also dog-friendly, which adds to the charm.
Please note that the dedicated parking lot that used to be available is no longer there, so I used the nearby Oiwake-juku municipal parking lot.
If you’re looking for breakfast in Karuizawa, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be back!
