This course is operated by the Seibu Group and is located in Karuizawa. Every August, it hosts a women's tournament. Karuizawa 72 is known for its 72 holes spread across the East, West, South, and North courses. Each course has its own unique features, and it seems that the typical way to enjoy it is to stay for one or two nights and play different courses each time.
I have only played the North Course, but I found the clubhouse surprisingly modest, and there is no practice range for the course. The restaurant doesn’t have a heavy atmosphere, and it feels reminiscent of golf courses in Hawaii, despite the different climate.
The food is neither particularly good nor bad. It’s definitely not a course you come to primarily for the dining experience, haha. However, the course itself is truly prestigious. While there are no significant elevation changes, the distances are substantial, and I often found myself challenged by the subtle undulations. The greens felt much faster than the stimp meter indicated. I would love to play here again next year.
