During Golden Week, I try to avoid restaurants in the Karuizawa area as much as possible, so I often escape to Saku instead.
For my ramen choices, I prefer affordable options within a 15-minute drive that also help avoid traffic. The places I usually go to are Ogiya Ramen along the bypass, Akatsuki in Oiwake, and Bozo. However, today I decided to go a bit further and visit Ramen Daigaku. I opted out of Yokochan-tei nearby since the portions are usually too large, especially with my wife around.
Since I figured they wouldn't skip the top item on the menu, I chose the rich miso flavor. Here, instead of chashu, it seems to be the norm to have boiled pork as a topping.
The miso ramen is wonderfully rich, mixed with back fat, and very delicious.
The half fried rice comes with diced green peppers by default, and as someone who dislikes them, I slightly regret not ordering a mini bowl instead.
It was a great meal.
