I arrived early and was lucky to find a table available right away. The French toast is reservation-only, but they had one serving available, so I ordered that. This French toast was wonderfully soaked in milk, which is my favorite style, and I generously drizzled it with syrup. It was a delightful autumn morning meal in the highlands.

This café is perfect for breakfast in the highlands. It's conveniently located for those driving to Karuizawa. If you head straight toward Karuizawa Station after exiting the Karuizawa interchange, you’ll find it on the right side, just past the Karuizawa 72. I believe the owner lives on the second floor, while the first floor serves as the café space. The interior is somewhat dim, filled with bicycle books as the owner is an avid cyclist, and there are even bicycles on display outside.
While there is a terrace seating area, the view isn’t great. However, if you want to enjoy the fresh air, the terrace might be a nice option.
Their fluffy egg sandwich is delicious, featuring a plain omelet with a small amount of mustard that adds a good accent. Both the French toast and pancakes are also tasty, although the menu states that the French toast needs to be reserved a day in advance, you might be able to order it on the spot during the summer. The pancakes are quite traditional, but they come with very tasty butter to accompany the syrup.
As for drinks, I highly recommend the coffee. It’s served in a pot and is brewed excellently. I believe the beans are good quality, and with such a great brew, it’s worth coming just for the coffee.
The location is along a main street, so it's not particularly special in that regard, but it opens in the morning, which is quite convenient. If you're looking to enjoy the highlands starting in the morning, this place is a great choice.
