Curry Udon with a gentle flavor, yet it hits you hard!
I visited Masu Ei Shokudo in Miyota for the first time in a while. For some reason, I had been avoiding it. The cramped parking space was likely one of the reasons. I squeezed my car into the little space in front of the shop and entered. It was almost full, but since it was around 1:00 PM, the previous customers were starting to leave. I sat at a unique corner table for two and took another look at the menu. I decided on the curry udon.
After a short wait, my bowl arrived. It was a classic style, with curry powder blended into a broth featuring pork, onions, and long green onions—essentially a curry nanban dish. I wasn’t disappointed. One bite nearly made me jump. The rich, thick sauce hit me like an attack, causing an impressive 83 points of damage. I made the mistake of being careless, ending up with a messy mouth. I had to eat cautiously. The curry flavor from the broth combined with the tender udon was soothing, gradually restoring my health points.
I quietly resisted the temptation to order an extra bowl of rice. Haha.
Delicious and affordable Katsudon
There's a casual diner near the municipal office in Miyota Town that I've wanted to visit for a while. I never went in before due to the limited parking, but luckily this time, I found a spot easily. Upon entering through the noren curtain, I was surprised to find a spacious area with both table and tatami seating.
I chose a couple's table with two chairs placed at a 90-degree angle and sat down alone. Looking through the menu, I noticed that prices were quite affordable. I decided on the Katsudon and placed my order. More customers started coming in shortly after.
When my dish arrived, I immediately noticed the impressive portion size. The lid was even floating off the bowl! Lifting the lid revealed a classic bowl filled with five pieces of freshly fried tonkatsu, along with onions and eggs. The tonkatsu was thick and piping hot. The rice was delicious as well. The sauce was on the lighter side, which might be a point of contention for some, but it was exactly what I prefer; I’m not a fan of overly soupy bowls where the rice gets soggy. The soup, made from chicken bones and containing just a hint of cabbage, added a delicate salty flavor with a rich chicken taste.
I feel like I've discovered a great place. I’d love to try their other menu items too.

This is a diner located in Miyota Town, but the parking lot is small, so I try to avoid lunchtime. Today, I arrived a bit late and was lucky to find a spot right in front of the restaurant. I went in and ordered the large Tanmen, and it was quite affordable.
When my bowl arrived, it was topped generously with vegetables, looking delicious. The broth was a straightforward salt-based flavor. The noodles were medium-thick, slightly wavy, a bit soft, and not too glossy. The combination of the crunchy vegetables, the salty broth, and the noodles was great. Come to think of it, this might be my first time eating ramen here.
So far, I haven't had any major disappointments. If this place were closer, I might find myself coming here too often.
