This is a wonderful restaurant nestled in the spacious nature of Karuizawa.
This time, I enjoyed a course with two main dishes for JPY 8,400.
The meal included a variety of plates: two appetizers, fish, meat, and dessert.
I believe there was one more dish, but I regret not taking a photo...
The amuse-bouche was a corn mousse, which had a delightful sweetness and tsubu-tsubu texture.
While it didn't leave a deep impression, it was perfect as a cold amuse-bouche for the hot summer.
The first dish was something like gazpacho, but the cucumber flavor was a bit strong for my liking, even though it was refreshing.
The fish didn’t particularly impress me...
However, I ordered the duck for my meat dish, and it was a winner!
It had a delightful caramelized almond topping that at first seemed unconventional, but it paired beautifully with the duck!
My partner's duck was also tender and flavorful without any gamey taste.
We also opened a bottle of wine:
2000 Chambolle Musigny.
While there were still a few dishes left, the server recommended some cheese, so we tried about three types.
I can't remember their names...
I felt this place is perfect for special occasions.
The layout of the restaurant isn't very moody, and since we were seated at a table close to the entrance, I would like to be shown to a room further inside next time.
It was a lovely restaurant.
